  1. Or, hear me out, they were either doing switching or compatibility tests (not like it could even happen in the first place due to the SIR in-cab signaling and 5-car consist lengths
  2. So basically the return of the / but short-turning
  3. I’m aware that this is a bit old, but wouldn’t it be better to make the Local to prevent further delays by not merging the at 63rd
  4. But, the cost doesn’t have to be directly correlated with ridership. Sure it needs to be able to hold up under the weight of hundreds of thousands of riders a day but it shouldn’t be as expensive as Phase 1
  5. Why would you make it just S? SIR riders already are used to “Tottenville/Great Kills Express/Local” and the orange and blue “bullets” (squares)
  6. It won’t work until Broadway and 6th Avenue also get CBTC to time arrivals and switches on 4th Avenue
  7. so, when should we expect it to be in proper revenue service
  8. Why not at least let the conductors use it, or if need be, create a new position that rides on the end or forward middle cab that watches the CCTV
  9. The MTA only says to pull the emergency brakes if the train being in motion threatens someone, but wouldn’t the train going BIE threaten the surfers just as much
  10. Jokes aside, what makes the R32s more reliable than their counterparts that they’re such a good replacement if other trains break down
  11. They’re doing track work one direction at a time, right?
  12. And they get unretired for the what, 4th, 5th time?
  13. Hold up, 493 stations? Does that include PATH and commuter?
  14. I would like comments about my idea, the T to St George https://www.quora.com/How-would-you-improve-NYCs-subway-system/answer/Just-A-Person-327?no_redirect=1
  15. How would you extend the 5 to South Ferry though? the old platform was taken out of service for a reason…
  16. Just read the CBTC page on Wikipedia Flushing isn’t listed as Active and QBL isn’t even on there, can someone go fix that?
  17. I’d assume it involves a lot of reversing. here’s how I see it: Corona to 207 Queensboro - transfer to Astoria line 57th/7ave - transfer to the uptown Q tracks Lex/63rd - transfer to the F tracks, switch over in the tunnel, head back downtown 47/50 - transfer for the B or D tracks uptown 145/135 junction - get on the goddamn A and haul ass
  18. Doesn’t south Brooklyn date back to the 1880s?
  19. That’s why I said they should have made them interoperable
  20. The MTA should have made the NTTs interoperable with each other, or even the R46/68s. Imagine an R68 consist pulling into Canal with the other half being an R179, or an R46 leading an R211
  21. Just watching these discussions makes me wanna become a politician just to get these through
  22. Wait what do you mean "they can't hack it" Something like just being able to stay on your phone the whole time without having to get up?
