  1. Do you not understand the reasons for not electrifying?? 1. Money 2. Environment 3. Lack of Ridership 4. etc. Do some PROPER research before talking...
  2. Alon does in fact pull information out of his ass. He lack knowledge of how railroads work. He once said that trains LIRR should through run into NJ under current circumstances and only hold at the station for 1 minute. He clearly lacks knowledge of how railroads operate. Has it crossed your mind to study rr ops and maybe talk to workers before spewing incorrect information?
  3. 1. FLIRTs don't work because they are not married pairs. 2. FLIRTS only work for low level boarding. 3. If you were to jack up the platform height, it wouldn't fit in the 63rd street tunnels. 4. Off the shelf European trains will never work. The FRA allowing off the shelf european trains only works in certain situations.
  4. This article is complete bullshit. The author does not know what he is talking about and lack zero knowledge of railroad operations. The people he interviewed also do not know anything about how railroad ops work and have been eurobrained to the max. This article is completely false.
  5. It will not. GCT will shut down between 2-4 or something around that time.
  6. The signal system is the same. It is ACSES and LIRR's form of ATC...
  7. Metro North doesn't lease Port Jervis. They co-own it with Norfolk Southern. RROWNER MNCW RROWNER2NS RROWNER3 TRKRGHTS1NYSW SUBDIVPORT JERVIS LINE FRFRANODE‎487942 TOFRANODE‎488632 NETM PASSNGRC
  8. Everything involving money is covered by MNRR. I don't see why NJT would want to buy it.
  9. The station itself is in NJ and is owned by NJT. The yard is in NY but NJT owns it.
  10. MNRR owns the trackage and station in New York. MNRR contracts NJT to run it since it is much easier that way and much cheaper.
  11. I have stated this before... Belmont Park shuttles are extremely hard to run. Running mass amounts of BP Shuttle trains requires Hempstead to be shut down which is not very reasonable...
  12. You cannot put M9 features in them...
  13. There still is a rush. They want to open as soon as possible. They are following all FRA orders so I does not matter.
  14. The FRA requires this kind of system to be installed. For example, this system is installed on NYAR locomotives. It prevents NYAR locomotives from entering zone 1.
  15. There is no point of the Beacon line anymore plus they ripped up all the tracks.
  16. 1. There is not enough money to electrify the whole system. 2. Environmental conditions prevent electrification. 3. There is no point…
  17. If the politicians didn't exist, the LIRR would have long abandoned West Hemp.
  18. JAY is Johnson Avenue yard which doesn't really conflict with rush hour trains since it has its own yard lead. I think you mean JAM which is Jamaica itself unless you are talking about DUNTON or HALL interlockings.
  19. JAY and JAM are 2 different things. There are really no conflicting moves in JAY...
  20. West Hempstead does not have any ridership. You're running empty trains for no reason and its just taking up slots.
  21. The whole M9 order won't fully replace all the M3s. The M9A order will fully replace the M3s. Since the M9A is heavily delayed and there is no manufacturer willing to build, the M3s will stay for quite some time.
  22. The LIRR doesn't like running Belmont Park shuttles because they have to shut down the Hempstead branch to do it since the curve is 5 MPH... Elmont streamlines operations and allows more trains to serve the stadium. It is much more reasonable to build a station on the ML than shutting down an entire branch.
