  1. That’s terrible. I’m running the risk of having the same exact problem trying to go to TA as a B/O. It seems like changing divisions or job titles in recent months has been secretly frowned upon. I tried to switch from MTA Bus Company to mabstoa and TA. I’m on 3 lists. 2 for mabstoa and 1 for TA. I did 3 day 1 processings and drug tests, and I never hear anything back not even to take a 2nd drug test. it’s been over 90 days for two of those exams. And nothing no matter how many emails I send and how many times I call them.
  2. I’m a B/O so 120k is normal if you’re in top pay and get a 10.5-11 hour run every pick. I don’t know how it works in T/O land.
  3. Yeah I don’t understand what the drama is about. All you need is a GED, for a job that gives you full benefits and 120k a year, and literally all MTA asks of you is to not call out sick and not make any mistakes just like any job. Idk what these guys expect from the agency. It’s like this in almost all government agencies where people with seniority can legally screw you.
  4. I already know what the deal is. extra list for 3-5 years, no sleep between shifts, never get called into the office for any reason at all whatsoever or you’re terminated. Easy as that
  5. I spoke to someone in Livingston about this problem because I did two day 1 processing for separate mabstoa exams, and I never received an email back and 3 months passed and nothing. I was told to email employmentcenter@nyct.com and type “URGENT” with your name, exam and list number on the subject. I didn’t get any response back but it may be different for you. Maybe someone on the thread would have a person or number to contact but you can try that for now.
  6. They recycled a lot of questions from the TA exam I took last year.
  7. For sleep apnea, if you’re over the BMI, but your neck is smaller than 16 inches and you don’t snore or have any other problems, do they still hold you for an apnea test?
  8. That’s how they been going the past 6 months. If they gave you your results it’s because they’re ready to hire you.
  9. Almost all the exams I took I actually got an email from 180 Livingston to show up for day 1 of processing and then I got the envelope from the mail telling me my list number but I scored high on the exams.
  10. Dude, you really won’t know what you’re gonna see until you go. Some would say it’s a waste of time while others might say they’re giving jobs on the spot. I know for a fact that LIRR employees aren’t really here to share secrets.
  11. What is a “bad day” for a Train operator. I’m still trying to understand why this job sucks. All I’m hearing is a bunch of NYC transit crap that is applicable in all positions in transit. Transit is transit no matter what position you have with them, of course management holds you accountable for literally everything. Yeah you’re just a warm body and nobody cares about you and they will always find a replacement for you. Yeah you’re gonna be on the extra list for like 5 years before you get to pick a steady schedule/route instead of 1 year with B/O. Fine. Yeah they will have you working the weirdest times everyday where you’ll barely get any sleep for 5 years straight, understandable. But I’m not really seeing any other reasons why the job sucks all I’m hearing is transit stuff that applies to all other titles. Is there anything particularly broad or specific that you guys can give me other than how good the senior guys have it compared to the new people?
  12. Yeah, I would rather just be in a more controlled environment than outside in the streets where people are cutting you off from the furthest left lane without using turn signals and immediately stopping 10 feet away from you just to double park while you’re going 20mph with 100passengers standing behind you, not to mention the illegal E-bikes in the street that literally come from any blind spot imaginable and you’re responsible for them on the road even though most of them aren’t sharing the road responsibly and are breaking the law by not being registered even though they go 40mph
  13. If it’s so bad why don’t you take the test and cross over? I’m not attacking you, I’m just curious. How is T/O such a terrible job compared to B/O?
  14. I sure Hope that’s the case. I thought they would just DQ you off any small incident.
  15. Im already a B/O, it happened while on duty. on the NOE for 7604 it says any accidents may be a DQ also.
  16. My question is what type of accidents have candidates been DQ’d for?
  17. I just applied to 4605, they state any accident is a disqualification. It’s a bummer because I had an accident where it’s not on my abstract and the damages were less than $1,000. I am gonna take my chances anyway but I’m sure they’re gonna tell me to get lost after taking the exam and going to 180 Livingston afterwards.
  18. If you already have experience, LIRR is open right now
  19. Yeah that should be fine while you’re in Zerega and line training, but by graduation you should have a link from the union to get shoes. You will get 2 free pairs and Transit wants you to pick from the shoes they provide, if you wear the ACG’s while driving, you can get written up if you get a spotter on your bus. God forbid you get into an accident, the first thing they will do is look at your shoes even if the accident wasn’t your fault.
