I’m not sure they even did that when they switched the (B) and (C). I read the reason for the switch was because they wanted to cut back on the extra miles put on the R32s and R38s on the (C) deadheading to 207th St Yard. It also made it easier to store and do minor repairs on the R68As that had been assigned to the (B) months earlier (previously, the (B) had used R40s since

That's not entirely true. It was done for the following reasons.

    1. To save money on the deadheads because they would used to have to send three (C) Trains from Concourse Yard Friday evenings to 135th Street spur and deadhead to 174th Street Yard which also caused delays. Same vice versa on Sunday Nights

    2. Because the (C) Train shared its R32/R38 Equipment with the (A), it was easier to swap equipment if needed. It was also easier to do maintenance and work on the equipment.

    3. Easier for the (B)(D) to used each other equipment if needed.

    4. Weekend (C) Trains was initially supposed to run OPTO with R44s since weekend (C) Train service used to run 4 Cars R32/R38. That plan was scrapped and weekend (C) Trains were extended to 8 Cars.

  2. Seems like we're going back to the old days of the (D) Trains running in two sections

    TRACK MAINTENANCE
Jul 2 - 6, Fri 9:45 PM to Tue 5 AM (includes holiday)
    (D) Service runs in two sections and is rerouted in Manhattan

No downtown  service at 7 Av, 47-50 Sts, 42 St-Bryant Pk and 34 St-Herald Sq.

    (D) trains run in two sections:
     1. Between 205 St and W 4 St, and via the (E) to/from World Trade Center, the last stop
         • Downtown trains run via the (A) local from 59 St-Columbus Circle to Canal St.
         • Uptown trains run via the (E) from World Trade Center to W 4 St then local to 34 St-Herald Sq, resuming normal service.
     2. Between W 4 St and Stillwell Av

They were gone from the (G) from June 2011 until December 2019, when the swap started (except for brief periods in 2018 when station work at Court Sq reduced passenger space and required extra (G) service to operate in the mornings (shuttles from Bedford Nostrand Avs), Hurricane Sandy, and one other incident where several R68s were out of service due to a derailment)

I know that. I was talking about ever since R46s came to Coney Island Yard.

There aren’t 8-Car conductor boards on the concourse line so there will NOT be any 8-car R179’s via concourse. The (C) will have a few R46’s as per usual and some R68’s. And to all concerned: Be sensible, mindful, and careful when you go fanning this weekend. 😊

Well about that. The last several northbound (C) Trains for the night per supplement is actually going all the way to 205th Street and two of the trains so far are in fact R179s.

    ^^^

Some (N) NB trains were running via West End

    (D) trains on West End or 4th Ave either got turned (at Atlantic maybe) or sent up to 96th Street/2nd Avenue.

Most of those (D) Trains got turned at Atlantic Avenue. I know two got sent to 96th Street.

And most of the (B) Trains from 145th Street ended up turning at 2nd Avenue running 6th Avenue local in both directions.

Norwood to Far Rockaway would be 35 miles. But Jamaica-179th Street to Far Rockaway would be almost 37 miles.

Are you sure about that? Because the old <C> between Bedford Park Blvd and Rockaway Park Route was actually longer than the old (E) route between Jamaica-179th Street and Rockaway Park by a couple of miles.

IIRC there's no way to get from the SB local to the middle track at 145th St.

Umm you do realized that the (D) Train can relay at 145th Street. It was done several times when Central Park West was shutdown for incidents and it was even done during a weekend G.O when they were doing track replacement south of 145th Street back in 2002-2003.

Sounds about right. Even when the (Q) was going to Astoria on weekends, they tried not running the (Q) via lower manhattan because it just made the line too long, kind of like the (R) to Jamaica-179 St.

in the case of the (A) and this GO, they would have had to run the night (A) service to Lefferts and have a shuttle run the Far Rockaway portion. This GO just goes to show how low ridership is on weekends now that the MTA can get away with running only two routes on Central Park west. Otherwise they would have ran the (D) from 205 St to World Trade Center or 2 Av

The 2nd weekend of the G.O, WTC is not available as a terminal with the (E) ending at 2nd Avenue

And let us not forget from August 2013 to September 2014 during the (R) train tunnel reconstruction. The (R) was all R160s and the (F) had 35 R46s + 10 R160s, and the (F) ran fine.

Ugh the (R) being R160s entirely during that closure isn't true at all. Yes it was for like the first few months or so of the closure but R46s started appearing again occasionally. I even remember there was a couple of times when a set or 2 of R46s was used in the Brooklyn section.

Why not? Without the (B) you have (C) headways of 12-15 minutes when it can become 6 minutes or better with the shortened (C) route. No (B) , shortened (C) and extended (E) should save a lot of money.

No you won't because you would have to now add extra crews for the (E) Train to have it extend to Euclid Avenue and the cuts is supposed to lay off workers. On top of that the (E) extension to Euclid Avenue will be longer than the current (C) Train route.
