8th Avenue CBTC design was under 15-19 and that was already completed. Construction is under 20-24 which is being held.

    Nope not according to this.

The damage ranges from the enormous gap in the MTA’s operating budget to projects from the $30 billion 2015-2019 capital program that were scheduled to start this year. Among them are:

Signal modernization along the A/C/E subway lines

Elevator installations at more than a dozen subway stations to bring them into compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act

Structural repairs along the No. 7 line, including renovation at seven stops

The hold also includes the MTA’s entire $51 billion 2020-2024 capital program. While not yet funded, the largest capital plan in agency history laid out an ambitious roadmap.

They are under the 2015-19 capital plan. 2020-24 is what got delayed.

Actually some projects from the 2015-2019 Capital Plan is also on the delayed list including CBTC installation on 8th Avenue due to the current situation. It's not just the 2020-24 Capital Plan projects.

As far as both Cuomo and .DeBlasio are concerned, they both achieved their goals. Cuomo with having his face in  front in  the media  for three months. Cuomo has been lucky as the phony media never asked him the key questions about why he acted in the way he did with the nursing home patients even though it was known as early as March 25. DeBlasio has got  his wish of destroying his predecessor's legacy which is what was his goal ever since he was elected.

Actually Cuomo has been grilled about the nursing homes deaths by the media in the last few weeks. I remember there was one briefing where he actually got really defensive when he was grilled by a couple reporters over it.

On another note the agency is already running out of the $3.9 Billion dollars from the Cares Act which is not even surprising.

After the last few days of upheaval in the city it would premature and rather presumptive to make any definitive decision about full subway service. The virus is still with us, who knows how many have been newly exposed during the unrest, and the equipment still must be sanitized overnight. I think safety is the number 1 priority going forward. Just my opinion. Carry on.

And on top of it, there's still a good amount of crews unavailable.

They likely won't be able to have enough bus operators to have people separated enough from themselves, hence why they're running the reduced train service instead. They might be able to get away with those frequencies over the bridge. However, if it's the entire line, then that's a different story.

The entire line is running every 24 minutes that weekend as well as the weekend of the 20th.

I was thinking about the express tracks in the system that are not used in regular service.  I wonder how often are some of them actually used, both in revenue service for G.O.'s or singular train reroutes, or for out of service trains to/from the yard, or for work trains.  Which are the most and least used?  Below is my complete list.  I left out some small portions like on the (A) past Grant where the configuration of the crossovers mean the express track isn't useable for revenue service.

    (1) between 96th Street and 137th Street, and between Dyckman Street and 242nd Street

    (2) between Gun Hill Road and 241st Street (East 180th to Gun Hill is used by some 5 trains on the regular schedule now)

    (4) between 149th Street and 170th Street, and between Burnside Avenue and Woodlawn.

    (5) between East 180th Street and Dyre Avenue

    (6) between Parkchester and Pelham Bay Park

    (D) between 36th Street and Coney Island

    (F) between Church Avenue and Avenue X

    (J) between Myrtle Avenue and Broadway Junction

    (N) between Astoria Ditmars Boulevard and Queensboro Plaza, and between 59th Street and Coney Island

I'd say the Astoria Express and Dyre Express are used the least since they can't be used to take out of service trains to the yard.  Meanwhile, the West End and Sea Beach express tracks I think are used every day for (R) put ins.  I also don't see how the (J) express track between Myrtle Avenue and Broadway Junction is used often.

You're wrong on Astoria. The Middle tracks has been used a bunch of times especially on a normal weekday when they would send a late (N) and/or (W) Train Express for being late. It's also used for Overnights/Weekend layups.

  7. Well due to the whole coronavirus thing going on, it's really not worth railfanning right now so with that said, here's older photos I recent decided to go over. Well enjoy.

Another unauthorized person at the same location?

    PART SUSPENDED  Posted: 04/29/2020  4:43PM

There are delays and multiple impacts to (J) and (M) trains while NYPD responds to an unauthorized person on the tracks at Flushing Av.

    (J) trains run in two sections: Broad St to Delancey St - Essex St and Broadway Jct to Jamaica Center - Parsons/Archer.

    (M) trains run in two sections: Forest Hills - 71 Av to 2 Av on the (F) line and Myrtle - Wyckoff Avs to Middle Village - Metropolitan Av.

For service between Broadway Jct and Manhattan, consider (A) , (C) , or (L) train service.

For service between Myrtle - Wyckoff Avs and Manhattan, consider (L) train service.

For local travel within Brooklyn, consider B46 or Q24 bus service.

There is (J) train shuttle bus service between Broadway Jct and Marcy Av in both directions because of NYPD activity on Broadway at Marcus Garvey Blvd. Buses will travel along Fulton St and no stops will be missed along the detoured route.

    No. Same person.

The Siemens between Jamaica and C.I are 1/2 scrambled and a straight number movement:

    At Jamaica Yard, 8843-8887, 8893-8912, 8918-8937, 8943-8977, 8983-9002 with 5-car breaks: 9013-9017 and 9053-9057.

    Coney Island has 9003-9012, 9018-9052, 9058-9102. Scrambled 5-car sets: 8888-8892, 8913-8917, 8938-8942, 8978-8982.

Also, noticing that, the swap moved quickly compared to the (6) and (7) .

Well to be fair the reason why it took longer with the (6) and (7) swap was that they needed to modified the R142As and ordered B Cars as well as brand new R188s in order to make 11 car trains and on top of they had to do testing when the trains were modify which obviously takes time.

Quick questions  for everyone. Is the Empire State Building observation deck open or closed ? I promised my youngest nephews that I’d take them on a LIRR trip to visit there and Macy’s Herald Square this summer. I made the promise Christmas Day. I think the 12 year old might understand but the 10 year old is a tough customer. He’s actually angry that his school is closed. He misses his classmates.

    Closed under the PAUSE order.

*Only 10-11 10-car siemens trains at Coney Island will be kept, mainly on the (Q) (the (N) is a 2% rate from it's current fleet rotation).

Incorrect. According to the leak assignment documents, the R160s that are left at Coney Island Yard will be mainly on the (N)(W) Lines.

So it seems we lost the (C) some time ago.  Like starting March 27.

That means 3150-3237 are having a long vacation.

    Can't use the 8-car R-179s on the (A)

The (C) wasn't suspended until the early evening of the 29th. Prior to that every other (A) Train went local.

On another note bunch of those R179s are laid up at 207th Street Yard.

It might for this weekend (and any others where there aren't enough crews). On twitter, they've said that they will continue running the (M) to 96th Street, but less frequent than usual.

It wasn't just for this weekend. It was the same thing last weekend too due to crew shortages.

  14. Weekend of 5/9/2020, the (D) and (F) Trains are supposed to swap routes between Manhattan and Brooklyn which is hinted under this (D) Train Service change. However with the whole coronavirus epidemic I wouldn't be surprised if the G.O ends up being canceled.

    TRACK MAINTENANCE
    May 9 - 10, Sat and Sun, 6:45 AM to 7 PM
    (D) Manhattan-bound trains skip Avenue U, Avenue P, Avenue N, Bay Pkwy, Avenue I and Ditmas Av (F)  stations

For service to these stations, take the (D) to Kings Hwy, 18 Av or Church Av and transfer to a Coney Island-bound (D) .

For service from these stations, take the (D) to 18 Av, Kings Hwy or Avenue X and transfer to a Manhattan-bound (D) .
