The airlines are in a similar boat, and if anything they're taking new deliveries as fast as possible because their older planes are more expensive to run.

There may not be new orders (so goodbye R262, we hardly knew ye) but the R179s and 211s already ordered are more or less already paid for.

Only the base order of the R211s were paid for. The option orders were not.

Yes, I believe one was a work train along 4th Avenue Exp. The other one was an R68A (B) between Dekalb and Atlantic.

That (B) Train derailment was actually at DeKalb Avenue by the switch and it was R68 on June 20 2000.

Car numbers was 2804-2807 with 2888-2891.

  3. (D) Service is rerouted in Manhattan and Brooklyn

    (D) trains run between Norwood-205 St and 145 St and via the (C) to/from W 4 St and via the (F) to/from Church Av, the last stop.

    (F) trains replace the (D) between 47-50 Sts and Stillwell Av.

For 7 Av, use nearby 50 St (C)(E) station or take an uptown (E)

    • Transfer at W 4 St (D) , uptown (E)(F) , or 42 St/Port Authority (D) , uptown (E) .

Thats not why, its because only some people knew that the (J) was running to Prospect as an alternative to the (4) and (5).

Would you rather take a crush loaded (N) or (Q) (especially in COVID times) or a somewhat empty (J) train? I really think they should try this service pattern one more time and see if it gains ridership.

What are you talking about? He's right that the reason why they stopped doing that was because it barely carried passengers. Majority of the riders used the (2)(3)(N)(Q)(R) during the G.O

Yes actually, I believe that becomes one of the AM (A) trips to 59th St from Rockaway Park.

You do realize those AM trips to 59th Street hasn't happened since 2004? They were extended to 168th Street and Dyckman Street and as of 2013 to 207th Street.

Cause it probably wasn't in service and and most likely was an minor derailment?

Trains probably have minor derailments in yards all the time, and never make the news or railfan sites.

It wasn't a minor derailment. The train itself didn't suffer terrible damage but the tracks, signals and switches, well that's another story...

Funny that this was mentioned; two weekends ago I caught an R68A in regular D service.

This used to be a common thing to use 1-2, occasionally 3 sets from the B on weekends around 2011-2 I recall.

It wasn't a weekend only thing. From Late 2010 through April 2012, the R68s from Concourse Yard were going through major SMS work so around 2-3 Coney Island R68s were officially assigned to the (D) Line.

IIRC on the weekend of the 25th-28th, uptown (D) trains are running on the (C) from West 4th to 145th (this G.O. obviously isn’t rare), so it seems the 6th Avenue Line will be taking over the uptown 8th Avenue local for those two days while the (A) and (C) are running express, and the (E) will be the sole uptown service on the 6th Avenue Line.

The (D) via the (C) Local to 145th Street is happening every weekend this month as well as the first weekend in October but I didn't put it up because the G.O isn't really rare.

At Ave J on the (Q) on the Manhattan bound platform, the countdown clock is showing the (B) train as stopping there when it's clearly running express smh lol

There was originally supposed to be G.O on the Brighton Line having Coney Island Bound (Q) Trains Express and 145th Street Bound (B) Trains local that ended up being canceled

I don't think it will be until the end of September, because there is another (F) train G.O. coming up, that is rendering the Kings Highway middle track unable to turn trains back up to 179 St, unless transit decides to end those (F) trains at Church Av, like when the Culver Station Rehabs were going on, further clogging up the Coney Island-bound (F) trains.

Actually somewhat normal (F) Train headways are scheduled to return on August 31st. That upcoming G.O you're talking about is just for two weeks. The week of August 31st northbound and the week of September 21st southbound. Some of those (F) Trains are supposed to turn at Church Avenue.

Right now there's (B) and (D) trains going along 8th Avenue going wherever they're going (whether uptown or Downtown).

Only 1 (B) and (D) Train went down via 8th Avenue during that mess. That (D) Train went all the way to Euclid and the (B) Train went via 8th Avenue to World Trade Center and went back Uptown via 8th Avenue all the way to Bedford Park Blvd. It all had to do with a signal problem between West 4th Street and Broadway Lafayette Street on the southbound tracks.

Interesting though is that the Southbound (B) Trains ended at five different locations during the whole mess before it was suspended entirely. Two went via West End (D) to Bay Parkway, one turned at Prospect Park, then 2nd Avenue obviously, the one that went to World Trade Center and one turned at 34th Street-Herald Square due to the Broadway-Lafayette Street incident.

That's not how it works. You should know this by now.

That's a completely different scenario. Part of it has to do with ridership patterns, as you'll have quite a chunk of people wanting to go into Brooklyn along the upper portion of the WPR line, so it would make sense to have the (5) operate to Wakefield and the (2) to Dyre Avenue, with any transfers being done at East 180th Street. Also, you can't easily walk from an WPR line to Dyre Avenue line station easily (north of 180th Street).

Actually that's not the main reason. During the Clark Street G.O, the (2) Train crews worked/signed up as (5) Trains between 241st Street and Flatbush Avenue while the (5) Train crews worked/signed up as (2) Trains between Dyre Avenue and South Ferry. It's done to balance out the crews without having causing many reassignment jobs and really has very little to do with ridership patterns.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but what I got from the article was the the (E) was going to be rerouted during the weeknights/weekends that work is done. I know they say select for both, but I took the (E) reroutes as falling on the same days as the tunnel work. It just doesn't make sense to be inconsistent like that with the service pattern when the tunnel is out for repairs. But then again, anything flies with this agency.

Even if the (C)(E) and (F) end up sharing the same tracks, they're all running about every 12 minutes on weekends, and 10-12 in the evenings(so roughly a train every 3-4 minutes). It's not like the Broadway Express tracks south of Prince Street where service is more frequent.

Work being done along 6th Avenue on select weekends during the closures is why.

Rutgers Tube work will start in August during weekends:

    (F)  trains will be traveling over the 8 Av local line between 36 St and Jay St-Metrotech.

    (E) trains over the (F), 6 Av line between 36 St in Queens and a temporary terminal, Delancey-Essex St in Manhattan.  East Broadway and York St will be closed at that time.

Actually the (E) being rerouted via 6th Avenue is only on select weekends/nights of the closure. Other weekends/nights during the closures the (E) is staying on normal route
