  1. 19 years later and in her original depot. 5018 is a rocketship! Doing a B15 survey on layover....
  2. MV to GA. Not FP It's on the defect line at MV, so it won't be going anywhere until it's fixed.
  3. 2611 back to YU if not mentioned. That is correct as far as MTA Bus goes. TA Staten Island and Queens are also ATU depots for those that didn't know.
  4. They were always getting XD's for the Shuttle, then later in the future for the crosstown SBS. I posted that 6009, 6111, and 6113 were assigned to Grand, then diverted to Tuskeguee because they had 6 artic's in the shop and needed them immediate. The buses were delivered to the depot and assigned immediate. I hit The Real up and let him know what was going on, he headed over to the depot and sure enough they were all running back to back as they were assigned drivers almost immediately after pulling up to the depot. 6087 is assigned for training. Just in case someone hits something, at least it won't be a new bus, and can now be prepared at Grand. Simone once mentioned that they saw a D60 come out of maintenance at Grand. That's not true. That bus was there for movement around the depot in case they ever shipped any that way. An LFSA has been through there as well. Grand Av officially started artic maintenance this month with the first 2 jobs being on OH's XD60's. ZA is and has always been the artic maintenance base for OH's artic's. Also note there is going to be a very slow introduction of artic's on the M shuttle because of Tuskeguee's emergency need for them.
  5. 4007-4009 to to FP 2826, 2907 to EC 6087 to GA As for SC it was determined that for logistic reasons all Bus Company depots would be Queens and Bronx division. When the merger is complete, LGA depot will be Queens North Division Headquarters, and Queensvillage will become Queens South Division HQ. With SC added in the borough will have extra work, and for that reason things will be divided up by north and south division. It's also good for fleet coordination with SC and and CP, which is MTA Bus Company HQ. We will most likely see future mileage swaps between the Depots as the C40's age. One day quite sometime ago when the change first went into affect, The Real hit me up and said look at the Queens Division Depot roster. It's been an ongoing saga for years since I posted the first thread on the official merger. This is just one of the many steps as all the final pieces to the puzzle are in the works now. We have a standard MTA New York City Bus (but without the titles) brand for the public, but internally it will remain TA/OA/BC divisions of MTA Bus Operations. There was talk of the Q7, Q8, and a QM route going to SC. It wouldn't happen before a merger and there would have to be union issues. Another reason SC went to Queens is because it's logistic partner is a TWU depot. Many don't know but SC is no longer ATU as of a few short weeks ago. It is now officially becoming TWU 100A.
  6. Yes that's how all new bus deliveries work. There are 2 to 8 pilot buses per MTA order historically. Once the pilot buses pass a test phase, the production buses are delivered. Most every agency in America does this, however most only have 1 or 2 pilot buses per order. 677 wasn't actually the only bus delivered. It's just the only one you all saw. This order had 5 pilot. 673-677. 674 was actually the first one delivered. 674-676 were validation testing pilots. 677 was the in-service pilot. 673 had to be modified as well. I can't remember which bus was the configuration audit bus, but I'm pretty sure it was 676. 673 was supposed to be the in-service pilot. As Turtle said, the buses failed, and 677 ended up being the configuration MTA was pleased with. The others were used for systems testing or modified to MTA's approved spec change.
  7. Good morning world! I was able to confirm some details on the previously mentioned M14SBS. We can get into the preliminary details later on today as I do a bit if background and try to see what the fleet plastic will be. Just for a quick background, the 14A and 14D will remain. The SBS will make L trains stops and will continue to run after the train service has resumed. At this time, the MTA is pushing hard to make part or all of 14th street bus only during the L trim shutdown. All SBS buses will connect to the free East River Ferry, and the M23SBS. This means Quill will in fact need more buses, and local service will be adjusted accordingly.
  8. Yes, and preliminary plans call for some type of access to one or the other of you have a specific type of unlimited card.
  9. 285 if you include the XDE60's. And those are actually 10 official Pilots each. They will likely be split between ENY and MHV for test and evaluation. Now don't forget for all that don't know, and I'm not sure If I ever posted this, but if Nova lowers the price on their hybrids they could get in the game too. Well according to the converted order from diesel to hybrid, and what I know about Planning Ops, I can see MV now getting about 120 now, and the other 155 end up at Quill, Hale, East New York, Flatbush, and Ulmer Park. If Nova gets in on it, I see QV and Gun Hill for the pilot, and of course Bronx and SI if there was an order placed. But until further notice, the 285 total hybrids will be Xcelsiors. The BYD 60 Foot electric pilot will likely go to Quill as well unless they decide on somewhere in the Bronx to spread things out. However with a new technology such as that, I personally don't see 60 Foot electric buses going anywhere other than Quill, Grand or possibly East New York. Then there is still the Question on where the XDE60's will go. I don't even have a clue on that one, and until I example the optimal routes I won't even speculate. I am being told MTA already has an idea of where they want them though.
  10. Facts Cait! I just hope they choose the pass and go option which will be faster than the tap and go as long as the proximity scanner is set up correctly. This is pure speculation, but I could see our sytem ending up very similar to that of the LAC MTA. And for the record, my speculations have been 95% correct over the last 9 years....
  11. Buses can fit in there guys. It's politics. Quill doesn't wanna get rid of the RTS until it retires, and that's why along with East New York they have notoriously has the best RTS fleets since the 80's. A piece of history will be gone, so a long time ago someone floated the rumor online that other buses can't go through there. It's true the RTS is the lowest and for safety reasons especially when I comes to inexperienced drivers, MTA has granted Quill's request and keep them all RTS runs. That day however is coming to an end in 2019 and completely in 2020. Unless MTA overhauled some buses that era is coming to an end. The only buses that we have are hybrids, the LFS and the XD40. Something will going on those lines. East New York cried like babies when they brought the LFS in and took the RTS. Now EN went from having 0 to having more that 50 of the best buses in the city. Quill drivers would probably call in sick if they did it there! Lol Hell, EC drivers sure did and demanded they keep a few RTS or they weren't coming in to work..... People don't play about these buses have have lied or made up rumors just to get them.... Quill was supposed to be RTS free almost 4 years ago. Then again, the only buses that are supposed to still be here are 4900-5249, but we still have 21 years old buses running out of Queens. MTA told them you can get new buses or keep these and have been really against sending any 94/95/9600 series buses. They said fine... We will keep the old stuff then. A veteran driver at JK always keeps an RTS out late and they are not even wantwd on the streets after rush. They aren't even needed at EN, Quill or Ulmer at night, but whoever wants them can usually get them... This is the most iconic bus ever, even more so than the Fishbowl at this point and MTA has has tried to keep them as long as possible and will now go down in history as the best maintainer of the RTS AND the Detroit Diesel ever. I'm gonna miss that damn bus in recenue...... But it's ok, I've consulted with TMC, and Nova and worked as a contractor for Millennium. I've had one of my own and I'm getting another one so I will be A-OK! #DreamsFulfilled
  12. The thing is if MTA chooses the tap and go option we are still going to have people fumbling for SmartCards at the trains and at the buses. Even if it's on our Smart Phones, there's are ways going to be someone who isn't ready, and delays everyone else. I huff and puff at these types of people on buses, at turnstiles, and at MVM's almost every single day.
  13. This thread was actually created for any general discussion about moves and transfers. We allow any type of discussion relating to or around the fleet and transfers. The official DOB roster (TTMG) is always posted in title post of the Fleet & Depots thread. That will always be 100% accurate at the time of posting with with a disclaimer of any typos. The reference roster (Ricks) roster which is mostly based of the official roster and posts here, and is also linked in that thread. We have all been pretty lax with that, and allow for speculation and any civil conversations. If you ever have a question about where something is, you missed it, or didn't see it on one of the rosters you can always feel free to send me a PM and I will gladly check the roster for you. Also please reference the TTMG roster and see when it was last updated. Once you do that then see if anyone has posted after the timestamp. That way you don't really have to weed through the general discussions. Because we sometimes have moves that are posted long before they may occur like the LaGuardia/Eastchester swap for example we leave this as an open discussion. This thread was created by TJ, and meant for general discussion about major moves, transfers, and swaps, and to update the forum reference roster by Rick. It was never intended as a report all moves thread for he roster, but that's been merged into it at this point.
  14. LACMTA has fare enforcement agents with handheld verifying machines which we will likely have in the future as well. Especially with the new fare payment setup. My whole thing is if we add rear door payment, and we will be the only agency with it, the associated costs will rise even more. I know the tech is there because I have used it myself. Thing is, the number one issue is as you said enforcement. It's just not a smart move for any of the 4 largest agencies in the country to have rear door payment on a local bus unless they have money to blow. How would we possibly need less people than we have now? If this was introduced into 6,000 buses it's going to cause operating costs to skyrocket. Adding 1-2 people to a bus with a reader is not feasible unless it's restricted to SBS which will still need 3-4 people. Some of this shouldn't even be an argument since it's on the horizon anyway. Adding this to local would cause for a need of at least 5,000 to 10,000 new fare enforcement officers. And raising the fine will just cause less people to pay it. Plenty of people don't even pay the $100 fine now. If you raise that time the number of people who don't pay will skyrocket. Not only that, MTA is not willing to nor is it interested in not accepting coins. Ever other large agency does and it's still millions of dollars worth of ok income each week. Service is supposed to be convenient for any and everyone. Not just for a few. Some people don't have smart phones and therefore do not have access to BusTime. You can't force someone to do something but you can push it... Why force a visitor to pay for a card that they don't need? Hundreds of millions of people visit NYC each year and many of them prefer to save a dollar and use change.
  15. What we will likely end up with is some custom MTA spec fare payment system. The thing is, it will likely be able to accept change as well. Not everyone will have immediate access to a SmartCard if they are not near an MVM. There are two types of fare payment system options. Front door, and multi-door. You can tap and go or simply pass and go at either door, however the new farebox itself will still be in the front of the bus. With back door option, it opens an entry way loophole for even more farebeaters. If they slip though with a paying passenger the who's to know they are on the bus other than the auto-counters? In cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, and Detroit where there are lots of farebeaters these agencies have elected to keep the tap and go at the front location only in the front. We will likely be going in the same direction, however the farebox will still accept coins most likely and tap and go will just be added to the SBS vending machines. Farebox don't have to accept doing but they do. Almost everywhere. You are shutting people out who may not travel enough to need a card, they are visiting and don't want a card, or maybe an elderly person in a wheelchair decides to get on the bus and still has change and not a card. This would now mean non of them can get on the bus until they go find a vending machine. That's not fair accessable transit. We are trying to attract rides and that type of thinking is why the MTA is having so many problem right now. For decades they haven't taken into account everyone or every factor in each scenario. So yee, we can have rear door access, but the farebox isn't going anywhere, and it will open the door to a wave of new farebeaters. Who's going to be checking to make sure people are paying at the back door?
  16. First of all, I am a bit confused as to what you are talking about. Nothing in what I said was arrogant. I simply posted the facts. Period. MTA has evaluated all of that, however the last report I saw said that even if all door boarding was introduced it would be anytime soon. MTA is at least 2 times larger than the second largest agency which is LACMTA. You are the one who took this as being condescending which is something ENY is not. If I was, none of you would like me and quite frankly this forum may not even be here. I'm am quite well aware of how things operate and it's blatantly obvious the boarding through all door is faster. With the new fareboxes, it will be harder to enforce payment at a rear door and MTA has to make some decisions when it comes to that.... What I said was valid, and obviously you can't take a joke. Clearly anyone who knows anything about the MTA knows my Transparacy comment was a shot at the MTA. So why are you taking things personal when they have nothing to do with you? My joke at the same time is a valid comment. Good luck getting transparency from anywhere other than MTA.info right now. You make it sound as if I'm the one who's the cause for them not being better when it's quite obvious. Many of the improvements today were direct results of my contributions and consulting with the MTA So please tell me what about my comments was arrogant or condescending when I'm only posting facts???
  17. That's actually 100% NOT True..... That's why no one has made the claim at a board meeting, and if they do it will be shot down immediately. The SmartCard is meant to speed up local service. Everyone will still have to tap and go. You also have to factor in how many people per day many have to actually take the card out of their walled because it won't register. If anyone has the new RFID safe wallet you will have to take it out. That will never be faster than tap and go at a MVM and jumping on the bus at all doors at anytime. With SmartCard, everyone will still have to wait in line and board the front door. Even though it will be faster it still could never be as fast as off-board payment. Period. MTA gets the revenue from all the fines, and it is added to the On-Hand operating funds. And you ask for transparency from an agency that's run by a state! Other than MTA.info and East New York....Good luck with that! Lol
  18. I usually would wait till the morning, but this is all very of interesting to me, and since I just got the info at 2am I'm going to just post. OH needs artics bad! Lol. Check out my post http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/50578-updated-nymta-depot-roster-61717/?p=930079 And with that being said, 6107 is assigned to OH. Note: At time when I post assignments I'm just telling you all what is on the official DOB roster. Example; even though 6107 is now assigned to OH, it won't arrive at the depot until tomorrow. In addition to that, even though 6063 is assigned to OH, it is still in the shop at Grand as of my posting.
  19. Everything in the system 2010 and newer, and all the LFSA's are supposed to get full upgrades including USB. Only new buses will come in the new colors. That's what I just mentioned was now being considered lol. Flambush however doesn't have room for more than a few, and most of their drivers have not been trained on the D60. I don't know which one will win. It could be any of them, or there could be a third pilot. Nothing was confirmed to me. I was simply pointing out that New Flyer is installing. I do not know the manufacturer at this point.
  20. That is true, if someone misses the bus that's the risk. They may have to wait for the next. It's happened lall the time all over the city daily. As far as the increased costs, some of them will be offset by the hundreds of fines they pass out weekly.
