  1. Do you think the 188's will have the same sound too then?
  2. They will slowly be displaced as the entire R188/R142C order will go to the line. I dont have a clue as to what line the 62's will go to. I'm still learning which lines use what trains!
  3. NYCTF Exclusive! The MTA has awarded a base contract for 33 R188's for the Flushing line. The order includes 23 standard R188's, and 10 converted R142A's. The contract total is more than $87 Million. Kawasaki will convert the cab (A cars) within it's Yonkers facility. The B cars will be converted jointly with the MTA, at the 207th Street Overhaul Shop. R142(46 eleven car set inserts) - The R142A is a 10 car train set. Therefore the 11th car will be added to each set to make a converted R188 or R142C. The first conversion set is to be completed by this time next year. R188(10 eleven car sets) - Delivery is slated for the 4th quarter of 2012. These 23 cars, will make up 2 new 11 car trains. The 23rd car will be inserted with a converted R142A. MTA also holds options for an additional 473 cars. (123 new cars, and 350 R142A converted cars.) The option contract is already set to be awarded, as previously mentioned in another thread. Today, the MTA Board approved an expedited change order procedure. I'm not sure what the technical details were. The order will go to Kawasaki for all 506 cars. Delivery of these cars, including options that will be exercised will, run through 2015:cool:
  4. That is correct! You are up! You mean their cousin the MD-90. The 717 was the MD-95. And in terms of branding, united is number one. But Lufthansa operates BMI, Austrian, and Swiss Int'l airlines under their old branding. So technically LH is number one.
  5. Wow. I just guessed at that one too! What is the largest airline in the US?
  6. The 4G is the best, but I only turned it on one time. It kills the battery, and I think with basic 3G the EVO is already fast as lightening at times. If anyone needs a new phone, you may want to check wirefly.com right now because they are having a huge sale on phones! I use them all the time! Evo 4G $150 including shipping HD7 $150 G2 $130 Blackberry Bold $100 or FREE with AT&T service MyTouch 4G $80 Motorola Droid 2 FREE Blackberry Storm 2 FREE Plus see about 200 free phones from all manufactures of Android, Blackberry, Symbian and Windows models.
  7. On another side note: As of October 1, 2010, Continental ceased operations as an independant airline. It is now a sudsidiary of United Airlines. On that same day, parent company UAL Corp. changed it's name to United Continental Holdings, Inc.
  8. On a side note, SWA did operate DC-9's and MD-80's for a very brief moment when they took over some airline back in the day. I can't remember the name.
  9. "C-130 Rollin down the strip...... Ooh Rah!" Go ahead 7-11. I know you got one! Edit: oops! I'm late!
  10. OMFG! If my professors, and drill instructors knew I couldn't answer this they would have a cow! I know exactly what it is! It's still in production to this day and holds the title as longest in production aircraft ever!
  11. You got me on this one! Can't be. The first flight of the B-52, then known as the XB-52 was in 1952. IIRC "BUFF" production ended in the 1962.
  12. Nope. Not that one either. Clue: This is the only fighter not available for export to foreign countries.
  13. No. Those are both incorrect. Note the F-14 was a Navy fighter, which has been retired.
