Man those AM jobs that drop out at Burnside are the ish, those are usually the heavy hitter penalty jobs and the WAA is beautiful lol.

Am crews atleast when I worked one of those jobs start up at Woodlawn make a trip down to Utica and on our way back we drop out at Burnside. Midnight crew go from WDL-NLTS and on their last half (2nd trip) from Utica they drop out at Burnside.

Yeah, But The pAssengers will never understand it! LoL

    In terms of the crewing.

Well they could be a regular crew during the Night but the end the trip with a Lay Up!.. That one train probably been on the road all night and its getting put into the yard to be serviced. A lot of Trains rotate!.  Like one of my Trips, i report  to Mosholu Tower, But Instead of going to Mosh Yard , I go to Concourse Yard to get My train, Then i go Straight into Service from the Yard to Kingsbridge. But Ill end my day at Woodlawn! all schedules are different

    Northbound.

It is an issue in that it increases dwell times and slows trains down (the curves)

I know it isn't a major issue in terms of that for the (4), but the main issue is when delays cascade, resulting from the junction.

Well The Thing with the Northbound trains, It those burnside stops are actually not short turns! 80% of those guys doing those runs are Midnight guys who are bringing the train back to the yard. Not a lot of those trains are going back south! same with trains that terminate at Beford Park

And yes.. those T/O create those Gap filler problems because the went past the mark, or the went out too fastened CHOW!

Yeah, it's not a big issue. It depends though. But if they let the (3) be held for the (5) to go through first, the (2) behind that (3) will be held in the tunnel before Franklin. Reverse is true if they held the (5) to let the (3) go first, holding up the (4) in the tunnel before Franklin.

Bottom Line TRAINS WITH GET HELDNO MATTER WHAT! THERES NO WAY AROUND IT!

If you want to deal with issues with the (4), there are the following:

    • Slow speeds enter Woodlawn-track layout
    • 149th Street Jct.-you could end the (5) merge
    • Variations in operation between T/Os - how they take timers
    • Crowding at 59th
    • Dwells at Grand Central
    • Gap Fillers at Union Square
    • Slow speeds in Lower Manhattan-close stop spacing and timers
    • Merges at Bowling Green with short-turn (5)s
    • Nostrand Junction
    • Utica -fumigation-supposedly ended

@RR503 Any others that I am missing?

Yeah!!!!! This is pretty much accurate. The Gap Fillers are really not a big issue thou........... Unless a T/O Decides he wanna wrap it up and CHOW!!!!!

Nostrand Junction is not a big Issue for the (4) either because it doesn't have to wait for anybody to get past... Normally the would stop the (3) and let a (5) go!.. that way the following (2) & (4) goes thru. But sometimes they even screw that up!

It's not impossible, it just needs to be worked on. You can do a similar (6)<6> setup by adding a switch at Burnside Avenue.

Theres already  switches at burnside!!!!!! The (4) goes express everyday in the bronx........ you just gotta be lucky to catch that 1 thats going express! LoL...

Real talk, the Jerome line should just be destroyed and rebuilt again. I feel like the (4) and (D) up in the Bronx really needs help. The (4) just makes lots of stops and the (D) is so infrequent.

im baffled by this!!!!! :Lots of stops???? Really????

Look into that with your West Farms connect. Cuz technically Bx41 is strictly Gun Hill I’m just a bit curious on how they will maneuver the 39/41 split on the late night.

right but you know on some runs the 41 then turns into a 39 up to 241, so i don't see it being hard to do but ill look into that!..

crazy I'm a train operator and know more about the buses.. lol

Accurate. In a way it makes sense. I wanna see how the Bx27 and Bx39 do as far as interlining. Possibly they extend the 39 to the Ferry. Will Kingsbridge or Gun Hill retain the overnight Bx39? Or that’s West Farms 100%. H will still have it

you know... thats a good question but i think the Bx41 will continue to turn into a Bx39 at night.. that being said, I'm assuming

I will say this to you. Depending on how the Bronx re-design and alignment goes I wouldn’t hold my breath on that just yet. Sometimes hearsay is accurate with the correct people reporting the information. As in reliable personnel who are in trenches everyday getting the information and vetting for accuracy.

I will not say that the Bx15 will be fully KB and the Bx39 will be fully West Farms. However, just by hearing this right now that swap won’t go in effect unless concrete sources indicate that.

Its gonna happen! it was said in a board meeting at WF !

How come the Bronx keep on having their routes converted into artic ops? Last year it was the Bx6 and SBS, The Bx36 and now the Bx35. We knew about the B38 and the Q12 was a rumor until now, but this is just out of left field.

i know y'all people don't like Hearsay so i don't say much because theres nothing for me to back it up on, but my best friend is a B/O out of WF, and he told me about this happening earlier this year of the BX35 going artic. plus i live on the Bx35 route. I've seen artics on it once in a blue.......

im gonna drop some more "hearsay" that he told me.

he said "Kingsbridge will get all of the Bx15, while WF will get the Bx39" and he said "while at a meeting at WF they brought up the possibility of getting the Q44!" while i don't have nothing to back this up, just wait and see what happens down the line!

I don’t think M25 would work with how Manhattan bus routes are numbered. Majority of their routes are numbered based off the streets they run on like M14, M23, M34, M42, and so on. M125 makes much more sense.

Hell. I say just bring the damn Bx55 back and in stead of calling the the M125, just leave it as the Bx15.   Smh. Transit always doing something weird.  I do say the Bx11 change could be a lot of help to the Bx36.

Eastbound Exp to Lcl switch at 75th avenue is the largest cause PM E/F delays. Its BRAND NEW as of 2017 timer clears at 3-5 mph. Most T/Os just stop and wait. CBTC won't fix 5 mph timers on mainline, that was a policy decision. Timers on CBTC are FAR WORSE than block timers, since a CBTC timer won't clear till the front axle leaves the "zone", while when block GTs clear, the T/O can notch 3 it. The L train is a a mixed result. There are no timers on death curves in ATO.  But L has very low TPH that never pushes the capacity of CBTC system.

On 7's CBTC, which is still ATPM mode, not ATO. CBTC allow for "ST 5" ANYWHERE. 5-6PM West bound looks like LIE of R188s. I counted every train door close to door close, is 1:40-1:50 or 2:10 to 2:25. Sometimes 2-3 1:40 headways pull in right after another. CBTC lets trains pull upto 100 feet/2 car lengths from coupler of next train, anywhere on the 7 elevated. There is a capacity restriction policy by the MTA, that no train can pull into a station at all unless it has the whole platform vacated by next train, unlike LIRR/MNRR. So 7 trains will often be waiting 1-2 train cars apart, right before the station platform starts, even if the next train is 50% pulled out, the previous 7 will not move until next train is 75% or 100% gone from the platform. CBTC's movement authorities are calculated 100 feet at a time I think.  So really quickly 200 or 300 feet to "red" can accumulate as next train pulls out, but rear T/O wont move till he has whole platform empty. Its a policy to never have a half pulled in train at a platform, but it kills capacity.

    BINGO!!

You really like to make something out of nothing not that I care despite what others (more you vg8) would say

Nonetheless, let's say this is happening. How could the Bx17 move to KB without a standard route in return? Unless the Bx39 uses more 40 fters than I give credit to.

who knows! WF is expected to get more new buses thou

LOL... Yes, take such conversations with a grain of salt.  I had a B/O buddy out of Yonkers who swore up and down that they were cutting service on the BxM2.  He's like YEAH, I think they cut some trips, and I'm like really?  I went to check the new schedule and it was the same as it has been for years. I'm not saying what they talked about can't happen, but sometimes these guys fall over themselves with random chatter.

yeah but one of the guys talking was a superintendent...... Must be some truth

  16. Wassup y'all.. On My brake today, i went to hang out with my B/O friend at West Farms and i've heard some interesting things thats about to happen and somethings that are being talked about.

    - starting on Sept 2 (the New Pick) The Bx36 will be all Artics

    - The next line to go SBS might Be the Bx19

    - Might Be sending The Bx15 and Bx17 to KB, and The Bx39 to West Farms. (Another Friend the drives out of GH said It was talks about the Bx15 going to GH)

    - The Bx35 MIGHT have Artics on some rush hour runs.

Now before anybody try to attack my post, AS I SAID THIS WAS THE CONVO THE DRIVERS AT THE DEPOT WAS HAVING... The only thing that seems like its happening is the Bx36 all Artics.
