Because if a bus is scheduled to arrive at the terminal at 7:02 but normally arrives at 6;59, and the ferry leaves at 7...

    -----

I'll reiterate my issue: that bus I complained about - with the NORMAL driver we arrive at 6:58-59. We have to run to the ferry from the Ramp D drop-off, but we get on the 7am ferry.

So it's obvious - especially since the bus has maybe 13 people on it at most - that it can easily do it regularly, despite (MTA) scheduling it to arrive at 7:02 - TWO MINUTES after the ferry departs, as if it makes any sort of sense.

The guy who ran the bus that day idled at the temp stop on Bay Pkwy right before the ferry because he was early. So instead of having to run for that 7am ferry we're on at least 3/5 times a week, we're now waiting til 7:15 because of some stupid anti-customer rule of "B/Os can't be more than 2 minutes early to St George." Yet, the issue remains that there's no reason for the bus to arrive 2 minutes after the ferry leaves when it's passenger load is getting on the ferry at 7 by preference.

This ain't like the trains. Someone complains about the train being off-schedule is nitpicking for the sake of it. Someone complaining about the train not showing up for 18 minutes during rush hour has a point, as does the one complaining about 8 minute headways through midtown on Lex or B-way or 6th Av.

But the ancillary, yet amazing issue, is that you're mad at me for putting my man's CID in my complaint - as if I'm supposed to get this man in trouble for not doing the job. It's not my job to advocate for the Macy's clerk for not getting a lunch when I'm just trying to buy a shirt, and if you're not operating the transit vehicle I need to get to where I'm going, I'm not advocating for you either. You have a union, I have Twitter. Who speaks for me when that (MTA) employee does some shit to not get in trouble that results in my getting in trouble and/or fired?

That's, honestly, (MTA)'s problem from front-line to Cuomo - we're just supposed to adapt to you versus you adapting to us. That's why you get @Via Garibaldi 8 and millions of others complaining about service - because your priorities are wrong - we riders don't owe you anything except not to assault you.

Real talk from an ex-union guy here: I'll side with union every day until I see folks not doing their job. He didn't do his job; he didn't rail against a stupid rule that even he knows was stupid. He didn't get his union to rail against a stupid rule that even it knows is stupid. He parked the f**king bus and made 13 of us late to work.

Two types of union people from my years in SEIU - folks who make it better, and folks who make it worse. The former see the stupid rules and exploit them or rail against them. The latter just obey to keep the direct deposit going. If you're wondering why NYers complain regularly and viciously about (MTA) employees, it's because too many of y'all are in the latter and too few in the former.

    i hear you

His co-worker manages to connect to the ferry, but yet he can't.  Please.  This is not a novelty.  Staten Island bus drivers know the routine, and it's been the same nonsense going back to when I lived out there. Most of the buses are scheduled to connect to the ferry.  The drivers know this; the passengers know this.  No big secret here.  Drive the bus and meet the ferry. It's that simple.

well as somebody said in another post, maybe that trip wasn't schedule for that ferry and he was running extra hot! y'all really thing y'all know everything, and don't know the reason why certain things get done!

  3. 2 minutes ago, Via Garibaldi 8 said:

Obviously you do care since you insist on telling passengers how they should commute to work... <_< The reality is we PAY for a service, and we have a right to complain when the service isn't up to par and I will continue to do so, regardless of what an (MTA) worker may think. In this case, the schedule should be fixed to meet the ferry. It's absolutely foolish to park the bus a few stops from the ferry during rush hour knowing damn well that people are trying to catch the ferry, while the regular driver somehow manages to catch the ferry each and every day.  As I said before, if the union gave a damn, they would speak out against nonsense like this.

oh, so he should have took the bus to the ferry IF HE WAS EARLY and risk the chance of getting written up?!?!?! Yeah ok!

and i really don't care, but as a train operator its my job to tell people how to get around! you don't like it, UBER!

Actually, you complain about the riders endlessly, so yes, you do complain. I complain about things shouldn't be like missing buses.  If there was a viable alternative, believe me, I'd take it.  Quite frankly if the fare goes up again, I may very well switch to Uber, especially for what I pay a month in transportation.  If I can manage to get through the congestion, it may make sense to Uber to and from my office or take an Uber pool and walk to my office.

Oh! and if you want to continue and be petty and immature and give a thumbs down to all my post, i can be petty with you!

No! the only time i "Complain" is when i see you people on here complaining about something a co worker did or done when half of y'all on here don't know WHY IT WAS DONE BECAUSE YOU DONT KNOW THE RULES so i'll center attack with something y'all do that might have effected whatever might have happened.... and what ever way you take to get to work, what are you telling me for? i don't even care... hope it works for you!

Plenty of people have cars.  It's simply unfeasible for everyone to drive into Manhattan to work.  You don't even make any sense.  My job isn't the problem. It's miserable (MTA) workers like you that the (MTA) needs to get rid of!!

Lmao!! I make a lot of sense thou!

I am nowhere where miserable killa! I love my life and i love my job! Its workers like me who keep the system running for miserable people like you! I don't call out, Im never late and i never argue with my assignments! Thats what i signed up for.

I don't complain about anything unlike you. you never have anything POSITIVE TO SAY ON HERE!!!!! But since you have all that answers, why don't you apply for a job in upper management and do something about service since you have ALL THE ANSWERS SWAY!

I wouldn't even bother with this guy.  This is an example of why ridership continues to decline.  What I find funny is this is something that the union (if they really gave a damn about riders) could speak up about, but they won't.  They'll yell about safety, but they won't say a damn thing about how they can make the passenger experience better.

Oh and you want a better experience?!?!?!? GET A CAR AND DRIVE TO WORK!

I knew yo miserable ass would comment! Mr Anti MTA, But still ride it and complain everyday about something!

P.S. i get holding Lights Everyday On My (1) trips! you should praise me for being on time to get you to your miserable job so you can come on here and complain about my co workers! lol!

If it's a choice between his job and mine, since I don't see B/Os sacrificing their jobs for me...

Problem is ultimately that the rule is beyond stupid and inconveniencing the folks who make his job possible - the fare payers. And there's a simple way to fix it on the buses - stop scheduling trips to arrive right as the ferry leaves when it could arrive right before, and adjust the "Are you on time" measurement to not base it on the end of a run. (I put in earlier how it'd be "smarter" to use points midway through the route instead of penalizing for arriving at terminals 2 minutes early, since that inconveniences US more than TA - especially when buses are running every 10 minutes during 15 minute ferry service).

SO!!!!! If the B/O is DOING HIS JOB, How is HE inconveniencing the folk that makes his job possible?!?!?! Blame TA for that!

It's the latter. We asked why he stopped and his reply was some crap about the bus being early and having broken parts.

That's why I got off and snapped his control ID and tweeted it. If only I knew Andy Byford's Twitter and was confident I'd get his attention...

So You put this man job at risk?!?!?!?!?! Not Cool!

Smh This bullshit happened to me before... a Assenger reported my hard stops on the train via Twitter. But she didn't know what was wrong with the train or what was going on! Just tried to put me on blast! Thank god i Logged that trip in and reported it to the RCI because days later the superintendent came bothering me about that trip!

My legal last name on my birth certificate, ssc and every government ID consists of both my parents' surnames since I'm from another country.

When came to America and started school from 5th grade, my parents went along with American naming conventions and dropped my mother's surname. Incidentally, the name of my HS diploma doesn't fully match my legal full name (just missing 1 surname).

I can already see this is going to be an issue according to what you've recounted about MTA being meticulous about matching and on point. Would you know who I would talk to now to pre-emptively prepare for judgment day?

you might be ok because you are from another country.. just have all ur documents

Whatever DCAS knows, Transit WILL KNOW.  They are willing to give you an opportunity to operate a $20mil consist carrying over 2000 passengers for 8 hours.

If you were a parent, would you hire a babysitter that lied on their resume?

    Pretty Much!

Getting arrested and getting convicted are totally different things. You should prob still disclose both though.

to a certain point you are correct. pending on what you got convicted for, you are going to jail... that's neither here not there.... The way Transit operate you would have thought you was applying for NYPD!. they want to know everything... they will hire convicted felons that did time. They just want know know is the case CLOSED! They won't fire you because you was convicted of something and you showed them. They will fire you because you LIED about it!

If your arrest/convictions records are sealed I'm pretty sure you don't have to disclose them for this position.  Nypd, FDNY, court officer you do regardless of you were convicted or not

You wanna withhold that information GO AHEAD! I seen people get let go because they lied on The app! But i don't know anything.. i just been here 3 years going on 4.. what do i know!

  16. 2 hours ago, Physcoles said:

I thought it only asks to list convictions? Arrests only applies to hiring for NYPD

if you get arrested, you was convicted right?!?!?!? But maybe arrested was the wrong word, but if you have any convictions like i said, make sure you have them disposition letters because it may not hurt you know but if they find out you lied.... that your ass!

They will not force you to start if you go to orientation.  Orientation is only day 1 and the first step of the hiring process which is paperwork, drug test, and giving you the 21 page booklet to take home and fill out.  You still have to do day 2 at Livingston which is more paperwork the medical, returning the 21 page booklet from day 1, and taking a photo for your employee pass. It's on this day, after you pass the medical, they will offer you a class to start.  They don't force you into a class.  They work with you and will let you know what classes are available. I'm currently a Bus Operator and the process was the same when I was hired. I was at Livingston for Train Operator on May 15th.  Waiting for the email to come in for the medical.

Actually Orientation is 3 days. the first 3 days you will be At TWU doing orientation.. and its long and BORING. LOL But they are very Strict with paper work. EVERYTHING HAS TO MATCH AND BE ON POINT! When they called me, It was In april, but due to having to get another social Security card and My name was spelled wrong on my diploma, I didn't officially get hired till July 11 and started July 27th... they will work with you.. just make sure you have everything.. if you been arrested, have ur disposition letters too! Thats important!

I've heard that you can push your start date back, but I'm not too sure if it's true and how it works. I did my pre employment already for Conductor and was told I was going to start on the June 4th class, but I won't be able to start on that date due to school obligations so I'm hoping I can push it to July.

Would it be possible if you could find out if you could push back your start date without taking for name off the list for the both of us if y9u decide to go tomorrow? Lol.

Yes. its possible. Just let them know watch the reason, and your name will still be on the list. you just may have to call To resubmit your name to the list

you will fine! the are plenty of people with sleeves and the big ear lope piercings

I checked, top pay is $36.25 but it is still 5 yrs of service at the same progression scale (70>75>80>85>90>100)

this is not accurate for train operators!... when i started in 2015 i started with 31.84 so i know this is wrong.... it may work like that for bus ops, but not train ops
