  1. More simulated stop testing, courtesy of DJ Hammers:
  2. No, the more likely scenario is that the fleet has split propulsion systems, like the R160s do.
  3. Might take some time to get used to, but from first glance, the bright background color is throwing me off. I guess I'm just still used to the darker background of the old forum layout. Right now, I still feel like I'm being blinded lol. Otherwise, I'm pretty indifferent to the interface change.
  4. Wondering how this will affect who gets the R211 contract: http://business.financialpost.com/transportation/rail/siemens-likely-to-pick-alstom-for-rail-merger-on-tuesday-sources
  5. The Coney Island R6 Revenue Collection cars were moved up to 207th Street Yard a few days ago. Remains to be seen what will happen to them.
  6. The 6 inches thing is complete bullshit. Pay it no heed.
  7. Only the LIRR will have M9As.
  8. ... the option orders were deleted from the contract YEARS ago. The order was originally for 290 cars base, 50 cars option 1, and 80 cars option 2 (SAS Phase 1). Somewhere down the line, someone decided we didn't need the "growth cars" [LOL] and had the contract amended to just 300 cars base, no options. Whoever is spouting nonsense about this right now is simply conveying unsubstantiated rumors.
  9. Additional R9 sound updates; new air brake application & release, compressor, and fan sounds:
  10. Sometime during Q4 of 2017 if the schedule holds.
  11. No. Once again, to facilitate maximum possible service on the / / during the shutdown, all SMEEs are coming off the Jamaica El lines. It is statistical fact that NTTs have a faster run time (compared to SMEEs) over the Williamsburg Bridge, which is the bottleneck along that line, therefore, making Jamaica El services 100% NTT will allow for maximum passenger capacity on lines that will desperately need the capacity once the L shuts down in Manhattan.
  12. And IINM, that's the definition of "CBTC ready", so yes, the R179s are CBTC ready.
  13. Showcasing updates made to both the A line to Far Rock and the R9. Several signals were fixed on the route, and two sets of SMEE announcements have been added. On the R9, several sounds were added (brake handle) and updated (whistle). Physics were also adjusted. You can download the updated A line here (remember to read the readme.txt file): http://www.mediafire.com/file/4azf7y2966jigd7/NYCT-A+Line+%28207th+St+to+Far+Rockaway%29+%5BRe-Signaled%5D.rar Remember you must have downloaded the objects from the following link for this re-signaled route file to load properly: http://openbveconnect.com//index.php?action=downloads;cat=15 Enjoy, and remember to visit the NYTM for openBVE weekends to check out exclusive unreleased content =)
  14. Fall Excursions are posted online and will be up for sale on the 16th of August. Includes Linden Shop Tours and AB Standard & D-Type trip from 96th Street Second Avenue to 9th Avenue and back (Green-Wood Cemetery Tour). Hop on these before they sell out and support the NYTM: http://www.nytransitmuseum.org/programs/?tribe_paged=1&tribe_event_display=list&tribe_eventcategory%5B%5D=7
  15. Looks like CRRC is having some problems lol: https://qz.com/724156/the-chinese-company-making-boston-and-chicagos-new-subway-cars-has-big-problems-in-singapore/
  16. If they want to expand the C to 600-foot length trains in the *near* future, expect a fleet swap of some sort to accomplish that goal. Although I wouldn't rule it out, another change-order to the R179 contract at this stage is highly unlikely.
  17. The nostalgia trip today was awesome. Here's a little preview of today's action, and many thanks to the crew at 207 yard who have been working hard to restore and maintain the museum equipment:
  18. The R179 order was changed so many times; the earlier iterations DID have option orders, and did call for a different balance of 4-car and 5-car sets. You can thank whichever smart person decided that it would be better to delete all the option orders from the contract lol.
  19. I can just barely hear the propulsion. For now, it sounds like a close variation to the sounds found on the M8.
  20. So apparently the remainder of the CT order is going to be Detroit powered starting with 18036. 17185 is the demo unit and is going to NJT for training.
  21. You're forgetting that the R160 contract was worth over $2 billion with all the options exercised...
