  1. I believe the first full train arrives at the end of this year right? Testing to go on throughout most of 2013?
  2. I did not want to make a thread about this so I'll just leave it here. Last night, I received news on the 76th Street IND station that can not only put the rumors to rest, but can explain why there is no real evidence of it's existence. Simply put, It's been filled back in. Yes, behind the cinder block walls, is just dirt. Which made me not only satisfied to hear that, but also a little pissed that theres absolutely no way to see it ever again. Would love to have seen a picture or two.
  3. So yeah, Last night I noticed the only remains of the Southbound Myrtle Avenue Platforms coming off the Manhattan Bridge. The tiling on the divider wall is still there but I think you can only see it when the construction lights in the tunnel are on.
  4. Who cares. Really, who cares what goes where? Why is it that every two days when I come back, it's the same comments re-worded in every way possible? What makes the most sense is what will most likely be, and most likely have been, already decided. GET OVER IT.
  5. Aaaaaaaanywhoooooo, how 'bout that MITRAC? Ehhhh? Ehhh?
  6. I never said it was a problem. You forget that the MTA went back to the design of the Redbirds for the construction of the R62/As after the design of the R44s and 46s proved to be less reliable. The body, stainless steel, can last the 40 years. The parts on the other hand, reliable yes, were obsolete when they were constructed and are just beginning to show their age.
  7. Technically, they are old. Since their parts are like the redbirds parts, they really aren't supposed to last more than 35 years. And we already have the flickering lights on the 3 line, which btw, I approve lol
  8. It was about the politicians INFLUENCE on some of the TAs decisions.
  9. That's why it was an example.....wiseguy. This is just Level 2 of the game called CBTC. Queens Boulevard being Level 3 and the first Boss. Yes I said it.
  10. A prime example of politicians effects on what goes where are when the R42s first arrived. Before that, subway cars were usually restricted to one yard. Since they were the first cars with AC in the entire fleet, it was politicians that said to spread the cars around. Giving most of the voting subway riders access to that "luxury".
  11. Then why can't that be done for other propulsions?
  12. How can ONIX be desidned specifically for NYCT equipment of MetroRail cars in DC have it?
  13. ONIX can return to his PokeBall. It had it's turn. Shared it with Siemens for a bit, now let MITRAC have a go.
  14. I saw 3 trains of R42 for the A. 2 running and one layed up at Dyckman Street.
  15. I think they will. The only reason the R160As had Kawasaki's trucks was because Alstom was working with them. I doubt that'll happen here. As weird as that'll look.
  16. Personally, the important thing to me is the propulsion. Finally, after the Alstom Onix infection, we have MITRAC. That will literally be music to my ears.
  17. We all know they are so drop it now lol
  18. So the Port Authority has completed integrating the line into the new WTC Transit hub and has begun the actual station reconstruction of Cortlant Street.
  19. The R143s were basically test cars for CBTC and replacements for the R27/R30s. They were never meant to be anywhere else other than the line. Not counting the shuttle back when they were new.
  20. That makes no sense whatsoever. What's the point of being 99% identical if they aren't compatible? To the person above, the R179 will be R160s with cameras and Bombardiers trucks. The propulsion may be different as well.
  21. Last time I checked, the R160 and R143 are compatible. THe reason they don't run together are because the propulsion packages are different. It is known that trains run better when the two halves share the same propulsion.
  22. Two Words. SERVICE EXPANSION. Have you forgotten that the extension to 11th Avenue will require 4 more trains to be squeezed onto the line?
  23. Stylish? For canada maybe. IMO, the LFS takes the title of stylish. It actually looks like a bus that belongs in this era of transit.
  24. You said the one thing that people seem to bypass.
