  1. Was this a weekday or a weekend? If it were the first Far Rock train from ATL on a weekday, then by the time the KO connection gets to CI, the wait at CI for the first southbound S42 is only around 35min. The next KO train won't get to CI until the 8am hour. If he wanted to go to Islip, he would have to wait at Jamaica for a good 90min. The S42 would get to Islip station 47min before the next train. CI and Islip are in the same fare zone. He couldn't have missed the Babylon train, for the previous train to diesel territory left Jamaica 5 hours ago.
  2. I believe there's switch/interlocking work going on there.
  3. Fairly standard GO, but its odd timing (peak of the holiday season, less than a full day) makes me wonder as to its reason...
  4. This is serious. The MTA just sent out an email alert saying that service will be impacted for tomorrow morning's rush.
  5. "Very limited" service is now running from Bway Jct to Canarsie. Buses still out.
  6. Any more details? Must be big for the MTA to call out the shuttle buses.
  7. oops..I didn't notice the top said Van Wyck Blvd to WTC, I thought it read Jamaica Center.
  8. That makes no sense. If every other goes to 179 how is that "additional service"? I think it's the continuation of the work that required shuttle busing, just singletracking now.
  9. That's news to me...I thought all 468 stations were 24/7 staffed. Any other exceptions?
  10. Does Morris Park have a 24/7 booth? Looking at Street View and some photos online, the sign atop the main entrance says the it is only staffed weekdays 5:00-20:10, Sat 6:30-21:29, and Sun 8:00-22:29.
  11. Here's an ugly one. And during the holiday week at that!!!
  12. I assume the is still going over the Bridge on Thursday, even though there probably won't be any work going on?
  13. There exists a GTFS schedule viewer which makes it much easier to interpret the feed. https://googletransitdatafeed.googlecode.com/files/transitfeed-windows-binary-1.2.12.zip Download, extract, drag and drop the GTFS zip on schedule_viewer.exe, ignore the warnings, go to localhost:8765 in your browser when it says so. Note: the calendar doesn't work, enter a date in yyyymmdd form. Comparing train numbers is tricky when it comes to certain situations, especially Huntington/Port Jeff connections since only the number of the easternmost leg is listed.
  14. The Thanksgiving iteration of the GO has been pulled from the website. The same outage for the weekend after is still listed. Perhaps the MTA couldn't find enough shuttle bus drivers willing to work the holiday?
  15. Those are temporary highlights used in the editing process that somebody probably forgot to remove.
  16. How did last night go? 32 FASTRACK outages planned next year. Details not known yet. Last FASTRACK of 2013 posted. Dec 2-6. Note: starts at 22:15. via Cranberry in both directions Buses between Jay St & York St (really necessary?!) Buses between Broadway-Lafayette & East Broadway
  17. Interns can do a decent job if trained properly. It is somebody's fault, but let's not blame the interns themselves yet.
  18. Who knows, there might be another (not yet posted) GO that turns (B)'s back at Kings Highway or something.
  19. Use the to the to the to the to the AirTrain if you don't want busing. Because the is out at Jamaica Center too.
  20. The GO repeats the weekend after (although obviously it doesn't go into the weekdays then). I wonder if they'll pull a London Underground and do a Christmas Eve through New Years' Day out of phase closure somewhere.
  21. Where do you think those passengers went? The Q72?
  22. How's Bx46 ridership doing, now that it's been running for a while? Also, how's Q70 ridership?
  23. Nov 16/17...they restored the outage. So that makes: - 8 Av-Myrtle - 161-Woodlawn - Willets-Main - Chambers-Essex - Van Wyck-Jamaica - Church-57/7 -Various minor express runs Note: The Jamaica outage also occurs on Thanksgiving weekend. I predict some problems w/ AirTrain-bound luggage-toting passengers.
