  1. IMO, evening service (bidirectionaly until 8-9pm on most routes) should come before Sunday service on all but the busiest routes. Last buses at 5-6pm are unacceptable. They seem to be providing more early morning Saturday service than I would expect (prior to 8am), can it be pared or eliminated on some routes?
  2. The fact you're singling out Saturdays leads me to think you're saying that the S66 is overserved on Saturdays (and underserved on weekdays)?
  3. New schedules for the S27 and S66 went into effect yesterday. Added S66 trip, revisions in Saturday S27 service, maybe more.
  4. NYCT and BusCo are two different GTFS's. NYCT's is usually released a couple weeks before the service change, IIRC Bus Co's is updated somewhat infrequently.
  5. The map is posted. Passengers will apparently get the Bx19 and a totally different shuttle bus as an alternative. The bus, appears to run as follows, based purely on the map: -Start Columbus Circle -West on 110th -Left on 8th Ave, stop at 110, 116, 125, 135 -Right on 135, stop at station -Onto the Harlem River Drive (?) (probably Lenox to 145 to Adam Clayton Powell) -Onto 155 St, stop at the and stations -Right Broadway, terminate at 168 . I fail to see the purpose of the shuttle bus. Also I wouldn't want to be ANYWHERE near the last M10 trips of the night!
  6. The page is up but very skeletonized. http://web.mta.info/nyct/service/fastrack_ACBD.htm turns at 59 turns at 168 end early turns at 59 turns at 161 Passengers are being told to take the , as well as shuttle buses which appear to be running along the Bx19.
  7. Request, R160 style. Where the bullet would be, fill in a solid rectangle of blue. All text standard red TO LIBRARY THE NEXT STOP IS KILLARNEY STOP REQUESTED
  8. Explored the PAT system yesterday: rode the entire East Busway, the whole light rail, and both inclines. A very nice system, with a bunch of quirks, and a slightly significant learning curve especially if you include the fares I wasn't paying!

  9. Learning PAT (Pittsburgh) slowly...all these suffixes and schedule combinations remind me of NJT. Unfortunately its a system I have to be able to rely on on a whim for the next 4 years...

  10. I've gotten the 3 way transfer going westbound, but never eastbound. Heck, a subway-LIRR-NICE trip (eastbound) doesn't take a transfer even if the two ends are less than 2 hours apart, if the NICE route in question doesn't serve a subway station.
  11. In what shape are the LIRR work engines? They're quite old, and I don't really remember much fanfare about an overhaul like MNR is doing with their GP35's.
  12. New schedules are posted: the n6x extension is reverse peak only, N47 has been merged into the N48/49 timetable. Note that the timetable cover is wrong.
  13. (or Mondays—unless I absolutely had to be there 8min earlier I took 613 or 2309 on summer Mondays, avoiding 2703 as much as possible!)
  14. From the point of view of someone on the platform, that would be true. From that of someone in the train, the C3's are an exception.
  15. I found the 2009 route study online, I thought it was taken down: Open this link: http://o4.aolcdn.com/hss/storage/patch/ab6b11b09dc2b9bf0cc941753984cc84 When the file downloads, rename it to a .PDF extension and open it.
  16. I used to commute by M7 daily for a couple months. The cars were noisy and rode very roughly, especially over switches and if you're not in the center of the car (between vestibules). Even then, the ride wasn't as good as the corresponding location on a C3. By unfortunate coincidence, that means most of the standing room in the car isn't smooth. The electrics have middle seats, while diesels don't. There's also no gasket (?) between A-ends of M7's, so when walking between pairs in the rain you'll get wet. The downside with diesels is their poor reliability and limited service, but they don't have any of the problems mentioned above, at least in my experience.
  17. The GO for this weekend was shortened, running only until 5AM Sunday.
  18. Note that at the same time as this FASTRACK, downtown runs via 53rd St and uptown runs via 6 Av (53 St).
  19. I saw another one with a back wrap but didn't take a picture of it, it was an old Gillig.
  20. When did SCT start back of bus wraps? Taken today at Walt Whitman
  21. Why are there conductor boards at 179th? Did it once go there?
  22. Right at the closure limits. EB 25A L Gnarled Hollow Rd R Upper Depot Rd L WB 25A
  23. The detour was smooth, traffic was very light. No announcement. Clever Devices still worked past detour zone so its GPS based and not wheel rotation based. I am sure the sign said S58, as I also thought it was a 5A at first. The bus was empty. 5A service at Port Jeff doesn't begin until 8:40 anyway, 30min after I left.
  24. Well, I had to be at Stony Brook by 9am, the train got there at 7:46 and the next one was at 9:43. So I just took the first train to Port Jeff and SCT back to kill time. The scheduled 5min connection was more like 7-8min between the slightly early train and slightly late bus so I didn't have to run. The seats were also a lot more comfortable than NICE's. Also it was my first time on a <40ft transit bus (excluding cutaways). I paid a $3.75 fare on the Pittsburgh farebox type pictured last year. It wasn't easy, it timed out a few times as I tried to stick bills in at the right angle with one hand holding luggage.
