  1. Some moron was running around on the bridge. trains terminate at Whitehall by going through the Tunnel via DeKalb. I was late to work this morning because of this.
  2. Good day on the . Got slow on the last trip due to the broken rail at 34 St. Jamaica Yard tomorrow for posting on the . Yes, I still call it the .
  3. Monday morning, did a trip on the and one on the . Lessons learned: 1. Getting up at 2 in the morning SUCKS, and I have to do it again tomorrow. 2. I do not like the R68As. 3. I like the R68s. 4. The R32s still are my favorite trains to operate. 4a. The best way to operate the R32 is to do so standing. Today, did a job on the . No issues. Not my class. Same induction date, but in the other B Division Class. And I'm not surprised at who it is. Pleasure to meet ya, RTO.
  4. Thanks, Trainmaster. Tonight was my best night. Did 2 trips on the , and my motorman was very happy with my operation. I'm not gonna lie; I felt like a little kid when I was on the West End Line, doing something I wanted to do when I was growing up there.
  5. Interesting experience last night. Did a job; did a trip on the 21 St Shuttle, then went down to Coney later. Our train was the last one through before the signals went dark at Ditmas. Got stuck at Coney for about 45 mins; ended up getting out 3 hrs late. It's like EMS, only without carrying the land whales from the 5th floor. Road posting on the tonight, starting at BPB.
  6. Congrats!! A good night on the . Rush hour passengers really do change the braking of the train.....
  7. After every trip, I make it a point to ask the Conductor how my operation was. So far, no complaints.
  8. Congrats. Excellent night road posting on the . My motorman got me to perfect my stopping on the R46s. Did 2 trips; he piloted the first one while I took notes, and I piloted the second. from Coney tonight.
  9. Survived my first night of Road Posting. No signals hit, no overruns. Did 1 trip on the with a R160, one on the with a R160, and the last one one the with a shitbox, er, R42. I really want to push them into the ocean. So far, so good. My motormen (since that's what all 3 came in as) were helpful and knowledgeable. Up on the tonight, starting at 207 at around midnight.
  10. First night of Road Posting will commence shortly. Starting at Parsons/Archer; I am required to do a trip on the and 2 on the . Here goes nothing.
  11. I spent most of my EMS career on nightshift. I'm naturally nocturnal. This week, I've been dragging since we did night ops last week and are back on A.M.s this week. Joyride from 71 Av to Euclid and back on the R46. Not my best, not my worst. Coney tomorrow for another joyride with a 'junkbox'. (Name the Motor Instructor).
  12. Did some switching at 205 and 168 today, along with some familiarization along the Concourse and Upper Manhattan. Taking a joyride tomorrow, starting at Jamaica Yard. Probably a 46 down to Kings Hwy via the . Got our posting papers. Midnights next week, then AMs the week after.
  13. Not my division, Dave. Relays at Euclid and Broad St., with a tour of Fresh Pond Yard in between. There is no pond there. FACT: It is 72 steps from street level to the platform at Broadway Junction. (Yet I still beat my classmates and Instructors who took the escalator, starting at the same time, while carrying all my crap in my bag on my back.)
  14. Passed my Signal Test. (No, I will not tell you what is on the test. No, I will not tell you how the test goes. You will find out on your own, just like I did.) It's hard to believe that 2/3 of Schoolcar is done. Next week we start Road Posting.
  15. Last night was our last night of Road Operations. Took a R46 from Continental to 95 St to Continental to Whitehall to Continental. The 46s out of Jamaica are a helluva lot better than the ones out of Pitkin. Good brakes, receptive train. I got all of my station stops in. Signal test on Monday.
  16. Tonight we took an R68 from Stillwell to Astoria via the Brighton, to Whitehall to Astoria to Coney via the Sea Beach. 19/19 on my station stops. I made that train my bitch. Twice. Tomorrow night, We go down the from Continental in a R46. It's our last night of Night Road Operations, and I want to end on a high note. The 46 made me its bitch last week; I don't plan on letting it happen again. I had Welsh-El for a class, and for my Final Yard Practical. Very smart, very thorough, very patient.
  17. Last night sucked. We were on the from Parsons/Archer to Broad and back. The R42 kicked my ass, in that I couldn't get it to stop where I wanted it to. The rest of my operation was fine, including the Willy B. Then, the yard kept asking us to bring the train back sooner; we got screwed out of a trip due to it. Tonight we're on the starting at Stillwell. I'm the same way. If someone knows me and I don't know them, I tend to get suspicious, until it is known how they know me.
  18. Yeahp. I was the one who quipped "When they make something stupid-proof, they make better stupid." (Assuming it was around 2am) It's OK. I know I'm scary-looking and all. Usually I'll reply to "medic," usually with something snarky or witty. Last night we took an R160 out from Jamaica Center to WTC and back twice. I was perfect on all my stops, but it was a 160. Tonight, we'll be back at Parsons/Archer, this time for a .
  19. Yeahp, that was us there around 1900 and 0200. I was the bald goateed one without glasses.
  20. Another good night at Schoolcar. 22/25 on my station stops with our R32. Tomorrow we start at Parsons/Archer on the . Where we go, I don't know.
  21. Last night I had my bedt night. Took an R68 from Coney to Astoria to Whitehall to Astoria to Coney. 19/20 on my stops. Crossed off the Bucket List: operating over the Manny B.
  22. You will learn it all in Schoolcar. Right now, Not In Service. We start Road Posting in a couple of weeks. That'd make me shake also. Did a trip from Coney to Bedford Park to WTC to Bedford Park back to Coney last night on the R68. My TSS told me to experiment with the braking, and I did. I have the idea down. I think I did better last night, so it's just gonna require practice, practice, practice.
  23. Went on the from Coney to 179 and back, then from Coney to Court Square via . My stopping was better than the past 2 nights (above 50%), but still need to finesse it a bit.
  24. That was us, Snowblock. If it was S/B, I was playing Conductor. Last night we took the R68A from Bedford Park to Coney. My operation was a little better; however, I was still stopping about 2 feet short. My last 2 stops though, I had my 'Ah-ha!' moment, and made good, fast stops at 9 St and Union St. Starting at Coney tonight via the . We may get a 46, which is what I need practice on.
  25. Haven't heard anything yet about that being confirmed; that the idea is being toyed with. There was also an idea floating around that for the first 3 months, you'll have 3 days yard/2 days road. I won't worry/care until something official comes out. May 8th is my last day of Schoolcar.
