  1. Some posters here praising the RTS’ retirement will be the same exact ones complaining that newer buses don’t last as long and how “old equipment” is always better. Then there will be several members out of nowhere will suddenly going on about how they were “the best buses we had”. Just give it time....

That's good, but that 5:30 is still missing. I spoke with David Weprin again the other day. He's going to write a letter to Darryl Irick about what in the hell is going on with the QM1 at night.  I showed him various posts from QM1 riders in the group too.

I just want to say that you're doing an excellent job helping express bus riders get the service they deserve. We need more individuals like you to stand up and fight for what's right. Things aren't perfect, but your efforts have and are making an impact. Keep it up!

I know I’ve been taking about this a lot. However I want to know . Is there anything that can be done about the train With brakes activated. It seems like there is a bunch of emails a day about it, I mean can something be done about it?

The thing is, it isn’t always the trains themselves. Sometimes, they hit things on the road that cause them to go BIE.

And do what about platform crowding and ridership disruption risk that results from load concentration?

Forty, fifty years ago, we had more peak hour riders and generally more even ridership distribution across trunks. One of the many factors at play in the current state of affairs is that we’ve completely failed to distribute ridership during growth — corridors like Lex and 7th have been growing beyond capacity while we let CPW, Montague etc lie fallow. That’s just bad planning.

So yeah, the (J) will be more likely to be disrupted if it goes to South Brooklyn. But it would provide some service diversity. The focus should be on enabling routes like that to function — in your words, “fix their signals and terminals” — not sacrificing passenger convenience for operational expedience.

Crowding will happen during the rush no matter what you do. Extending the (J) would not provide “service diversity” as you put. You’re just throwing another issue into the mix.

I’m all for improving passenger service, but  not if it entails extending a line aimlessly. It didn’t work with the brown M and it won’t work with the (J).

  6. Absolutely negative on the (J) to Bay Ridge as it’ll just make the line more unreliable. It already has long intervals to begin with. The last thing we need is it being even more delayed due to signal trouble, sick passengers, etc in South Brooklyn.

If you want to lesson crowding on the IRT, here’s what you do: Fix their signals and terminals to increase capacity.

The Nova LFS might be delayed due to what the MTA has in store for Staten Island since they are planning to have the new OMNY on those buses starting April or June

The LFS are delayed due to a failed audit as ENY pointed out. It has nothing to do with OMNY. YU is still set to receive the LFS as transit wants the hybrids off the island.

Not in SI, maybe they put up the wrong signs by accident but all limiteds were instructed to make all local stops (minus the 93 and 89 of course) from at least 0430hrs and still on going.

You sure? I did see some SI LTD’s on bustime, unless the wrong signs were put up like you suggested.

Note to SI LTD bus riders

Don't expect to see any LTD service running tommorow, save the S89 and S93. The snowstorm has made SI give alot of their LFS buses to Manhattan. This will make a shortage of buses for tommorow which would ultimately lead to the (MTA) cancelling LTD service.

    Most LTD’s ran this morning.

Saw an R142A on the (5) today! It went express from E 180 St to Pelham Parkway, and it then came back down out of service. Not sure how/why it ended up on the (5), but I did manage to grab a photo of it:

The (5) usually borrows sets from the (4) when it’s split due to GOs. Such was the case this morning for just over two hours.

So no one is gonna ask why most to all of East New York’s R179’s were all OOS today...

That can’t be. I rode one on the (J) and saw another set in service earlier this afternoon.

Y'all are making this much more complicated than it needs to be. The simplest solution is to extend the (J) or (W) to 95th Street to provide additional service. I would advocate for the (J) because extending it would mean that Williamsburg is a simple cross platform transfer away from all of the BMT Southern Division lines. Creating a stub line in this case would be simply wasteful.

I read at some point that 95th Street is restricted to turning 10 trains per hour. Since the (R) is scheduled at that, any additional service would require some kind of change at the terminal, assuming the restriction is true. It could be false information for all I know, though.

Extended the (J)? Absolutely not. I don’t need it delayed when I’m going home because of potential setbacks from increasing the route length. Simply fix 95 Street to allow more trains to turn, extend some rush hour (W) trips and call it a day.

In my honest opinion, I would run the R62As on the (S) till they die. I don't see the need to scrap Livonia's R62A's since the line it only has two stops. I can see R62As (on the shuttle) running along side with the new R262s. Granted, if the 62As begin to prove unreliable than yeah, give it some tech. But if the oldest R32s can run on the :A: (the longest route) than I'm pretty sure a couple of R62As can do the (S) (the shortest).

Although the (S) 42 St is only two stops, remember that it’s R62As see heavy usage every day and it’s completely underground.

R-46's on (C) are missing on weekdays for now, likely pending a better reliability from the R-179's, but are still present on weekends, albeit one or two.

They’re still out there on weekdays too. Spotted one on the (C) just a few minutes ago at a Broadway Junction.

At Rector Street where Trinity Street intersects Morris Street and an off ramp from the tunnel, you can see the entrances to the (1) train stop and the (R)/(W) stop across the street from each other. And I've been wondering "why wasn't a transfer built here?"

There’s already a transfer between those lines at South Ferry, so it isn’t needed.
