Is any of the LFS's at Yukon trackable yet? If they don't get tracking soon, you'll have alot of buses not showing up leading to complaints and lost ridership.

I know, I was mainly talking about the non-bus faners and the regular riders who take the bus. If they don't see a bus on BusTime coming for a while, they might be more inclined to take an Uber or something.

Bro, it’s not that serious. YU only has a handful of the new LFS. Not to mention, you have some SI folk who either don’t know how or care to use Bustime.

I don't think I've seen 3252 mentioned in this thread, but it looks like somebody on reddit spotted it on its way down to the city yesterday: https://www.reddit.com/r/nycrail/comments/bju07h/new_subway_car_coming_down_i87/

That link doesn’t work. I copied and pasted it a few times.

  3. Which bus lines are or have been your home routes?

    For me:

    Staten Island: S40, S42, S44, S52, S74, S76, S78

    Brooklyn: B13, B26, B43, B44, B52, Q24, Q56

And now that I just moved to NJ: 13 and 27

On the subject of getting rare catches without using Bustime, I can recall the following:

-Catching an MCI or Prevost on the S89 before it became common

-Riding an RTS on the S62 (the summer of 2013 when SI was really short) and on the S78 back when YU had RTSes

There’s probably more that I can’t remember at the moment.

That would be irrelevant because the (Q) uses the Manhattan Bridge not the montague tunnel.

Not quite. If any incident or planned work occurs on or near the bridge, then the (Q) gets rerouted through the tunnel, which happens every now and then. TA doesn’t want to risk that.

The R32s have definitely begun to show their age with a myriad of mechanical problems recently, while some R179s have been having similar issues too. The R179s were pulled from service a few months ago for mechanical issues as well.

Those issues were fixed as more 179s have been delivered and placed into service on the (C).

Question: When SI receives there new LFS buses (not anytime soon at this rate), will some NG's stay on SI after all of the LFS's have been delivered? There are 82 NG's at Yukon, while the LFS delivery calls for 77 new buses, meaning that Yukon would have 5 fewer buses if all of the NG's were to go.

None of the NGs are staying as the incoming LFS’ will be a bus-for-bus replacement. TA wants all the hybrids off the island. YU should be fine with five less buses since the summer pick is only just over two months away.

According to BusTime, an S94 LTD trip left the ferry at 7 PM tonight, the 6:45 PM wasn't late and came on time, so I'm assuming that this is an extra trip since no S94 buses are scheduled between 6:45 PM and 9 PM.

I noticed that a few days ago too. Maybe there is  scheduled 7:00pm trip and it just wasn’t added to the schedule.

Correct me if I’m wrong , but I think they decided to add more service to make up for not lengthening the G

As for part of the revised (L) tunnel closure, yes. Trains will run every 8 minutes instead of every 10.

Most likely some r46's displaced by the 10 car r179's could be used to add service to the G as 4 car trains.

I may be wrong, but I have a feeling that the A will keep a good chunk of the r46's plus the 10 car r179's, while the C will keep the 8 car r32's plus the 8 car r179's. The G won't need a lot of r46's, since it will stay as 300 ft, and the r68's will most likely stay in the G.

The (G) isn’t getting R46s. If anything, they’ll throw an extra R68 set or two.

I miss the R44's, they had so much more pop (acceleration wise) than the 46s do. The 44s A/C was better as well. 44s were such an underrated subway car. I like the 46s cars but they would be so much better if the field shunting got put back in em.

That last summer the (A) line had 44s I remember riding them from Midtown to Nostrand Ave and man it was such an pleasant ride, good A/C, fast, etc.

I certainly don’t miss them. Their A/C was crap, doors opened and closed too slowly, and their structural issues don’t help them either. I’m glad they’re gone.
