The small marginal maintenance/crew cost incurred w/ 600' trains would likely be outweighed by the runtime savings incurred through shorter dwells b/c less end-loading.

Let’s be realistic here, transit isn’t going to spend any extra money they don’t feel they need to.

Are R160’s on the (J) rare? I took that line today for the first time in a while, expecting an R179 but ended up getting an R160 (I didn’t mind at all, I love the 160’s 🙂).

How many R179 trains are on the (J) and how many R160’s are on the (J)?

The (J) uses R160s more than anything else. They sometimes run back to back.

As far as assignments, I believe it uses 8-10 sets of 160s and almost the same for 179s.

On a separate note, is there any reason Subway time shows the (7) running at 8-minute headways when it’s scheduled to run every 4-6? I checked and there are no GOs or any planned work along the line for this weekend. There isn’t the first time I’ve noticed either.

Does anyone know how extremely inconvenient the GO buses are (GO25 only running on Rush Hours and the GO28 being completely unreliable at of the time as it only runs every half-hour at all times even though they have 10 Suburbans assigned to it and the fact that both don't have dedicated bus lanes)

The GO28 operates at its current frequency because ridership isn’t high enough.

    "TRACK MAINTENANCE
    Oct 19 - 20, Saturday & Sunday
    (D) Trains run approximately every 12 minutes, days and evenings

    (D) service runs on a modified schedule because trains are running on a single track at Bedford Park Blvd in the Bronx."

By that logic, the (B) and (W) need to run every 12 minutes also, because they run on a single track at 145 Street and Whitehall Street respectively.

    Classic slippery slope scenario.

Probably single tracking between Bedford Park Blvd and 205 St.

Now if you used an example such as someone going to work during rush hour, explain to me why would a person always take a Lyft or Uber when they literally charge more during those times? Even going to another borough such as manhattan or to an airport they charged very high. I can get to the city or another borough for $2.75 opposed to paying $6-60.

Some folks would rather spend the extra money, use their personal vehicle, or even carpool to reach their destination quicker without being delayed or stuck in traffic. As it was noted, it boils down to comfort and convenience.

I miss the last Q44 bus by one light for 20 minutes because one stupid “Baby On Board” FUV didn’t want to move fast enough...and I now have to just miss the train from Jamaica to Cedarhurst, wait an hour for the next one, AND be late to work...because no advocacy group on here wants to care about the most underserved part of Queens/LI. Enjoy your stupid Patriot Day!

The last Q44 bus? It runs 24/7.

The (MTA) be like: Screw it, let's do the shutdown anyway while Prince Bollocks isn't watching. f1079cec8f0c7ace5ecce85fdc63c140-50x50.j

edit: Waitaminute, doesn't the (L) only run every 24 minutes for this? Man, they're gonna save a fortune keeping the whole (L) fleet in the yard.

That’s when it’s split at Broadway Junction. Usually if it runs only between south of the station, it’s every 10 minutes.
