  1. "1" huge problem IRT. NIMBYS and Central Brooklyn riders refusing this drastic changes to several lines.

    Bump

A host of ideas to clean up the B44 SBS plan by allowing the B44 local to go up Rogers with the SBS:

-Southbound B15 rerouted via Stuyvesant Ave between Broadway and Fulton St, via Schenectady between Fulton and Dean (uses Park Ave to get over to Broadway from Woodhull terminal like southbound B47)

-Southbound B43 replaces southbound B15 along Marcus Garvey Blvd (Sumner Ave) by being rerouted via Sumner between Broadway and Fulton, via Albany Ave between Fulton and Empire

-Northbound B44 local rerouted via Rogers between Flatbush and Dean, via Bedford north of Dean all the way to Flushing Ave (daytime) or Bridge Plaza (overnight)

-Northbound B49 replaces northbound B44 local by being rerouted via NY Ave between Foster or "D" and Fulton, will still go over to Franklin Ave terminal like it does now

-Southbound B49 replaces part of southbound B43 by being rerouted via Brooklyn Ave between Dean and ENY Ave, runs southbound via NY Ave from ENY to "D" or Foster (bidirectional service on NY Ave between ENY and Foster or "D"), then gets back over to Ocean via either of those last two east-west streets

-B57 replaces other part of southbound B43 by being rerouted via Tompkins/Marcy Aves between Flushing Ave and Fulton St, terminates at Franklin/Fulton

-That proposed DUMBO/Navy Yard line could replace part of the B57 by terminating at Woodhull

This proposal leaves Court/Smith Sts and much of Bedford Ave without bus service, but East FB now has southbound service on a block other than Nostrand or Utica Ave. The only issue is that the B49 will need to be more frequent if it proves incapable of handling the loads along NY Ave at its current frequencies after the B44 SBS is created (and the B44 local is moved to Rogers with the SBS)

  2. After hearing a million times over last few weeks on radio, I now like this current smash hit. Actually i thought the 'background vocals" on this was from Katy Perry when i first heard it this spring. The background vocals is really a new comer from New Zeland named Kimba Johnson aka "Kimba" Cool video. Also to date, the #1 song for 2012 in US and much of the world. No accident after this was performed on '"The Voice" and American Idol 2012" it went straight to top of the charts. Enjoy

  3. JW have you thought a carrer as Casey Kasem(not sure you heard of him lol)or Ryan Seacrest lol. Question is how far is your Billboard knowledge going pre-2000 lol.

Nicki Minaj has made Billboard Hot 100 history. Possibly outshining a fifth week at #1 for "Call Me Maybe", "Starships" lands at #9 on the chart this week. This marks 21 weeks since Minaj made a #9 debut with that track. That is a record Top 10 reign for a song that made it's debut in the Top 10. The current #2 track, "Payphone" poses a strong challenge to that record having spent it's first 12 weeks within the Top 3. "Payphone" remains the Top Pop song and Top Radio Song in the US.

The question is who is your favorite singer within the Billboard Top 10? Is it...

Usher who lands a third week at #10 with "Scream"

Nicki Minaj who has her "Starships" flying at #9

Fun. who is still going strong with "We Are Young" at #8

David Guetta who uses the voice of Sia to achieve #7 (Titanium)

Rihanna who wants to know "Where Have You Been" at #6

Ellie Goulding who storms into the Top 5 with "Lights"

Katy Perry who is "Wide Awake" at #4

Gotye who refuses to become "Somebody That I Used To Know" at #3

Maroon 5 who is taking over the radio world with "Payphone" at #2

or the chart-topper Carly Rae Jepsen. "Call Me Maybe" if you want a "Good Time" lol

  4. LOL at Threxxx as he counting down for 5-6 years from now from his college internship at (MTA) opeartions planning. And down the road being a future Mod on this boards.

@College Point. I agree. The (MTA) instead of new routes should first consider modernzing existing low usage lines. Or as (B35) suggested think of a region/boro of NYC as a jigsaw puzzle.

I just making point, a Q19 is 99% certain not to be extended to the Bronx.

  5. The Bronx excluding Staten island is the only borough that doesn't have any service to an airport which can bring out many options. You can either mess up the Q50 more than it already is or try using a current route. Seriously u want to try extending Q50 with the bad headways it has and have ppl kill at LGA airport. The Q50 has a decent amount of riders. Why not try the Q19 to the Bronx and open up another alternative. This can help increase ridership and when that happens service will improve. Have it go up 94st and follow the Q48 back down to Astoria blvd after it served LGA.

college point. Right before the doomsday cuts made a proposal for several new routes including a LGA-Bronx route in 2007. I stiill think within 3 years it will still happen but it wont be a Q19 extension though.

  6. Actually I am a huge Police/Sting fan. I like a few Chicago songs especially my favorites "Hard habit to Break" "if you leave me now" but not a hardcore fan as i am with the police.

    Still good picks NYCtrainfan.

Time to bring back the 80's with these songs! B) I'd bet Shortline would like these songs too:

Love Me Tomorrow by Chicago (1982)

Wrapped Around Your Finger by The Police (1983)

  7. The Bxm4A didn't work because there isn't much on W Gun Hill, The stop at Sedgwick & Dickenson isn't that far from the Bxm3 which has better service and lastly despite it saying it ended at Lehman College, it ended at 205 & Paul which is a dead area outside of school hours. Woodlawn riders kept the 4B alive but if you tried to take it off the concourse I doubt it'd get enough ridership (hence why those Super Express runs got canned).

Theres no real way to get an express route from Manhattan to Woodlawn without using the Concourse. You can't run the route through the W. Bronx because there's the Bxm3 (plus no need for service south of Fordham) and you can't run it through the East Bronx because it's going overlap the Bxm11 which people already complain about overlapping the 2 train. Webster and 3rd Avenue are the only other 2 major N-S thoroughfares and I'd doubt express service would fly over there. I don't know where you read that express buses are supposed to use the highway because a good portion of the QM routes don't E/B, the difference is that they aren't on the service road. Which IMO is the issue: running buses that are supposed to have shorter rides (i.e limiteds and expresses) on the service road is ineffective. If the cost per ride for the express bus was a bit more reasonable more riders on the Concourse would use it but thats another discussion

Re: The Bx13 you can still have some runs go to 161/3rd but really they should just add more Bx6 service.

I suggested switching the Bx7 and Bx10 because the latter's winding route causes most of its delays and it needs to be streamlined

VG8: Cutting 220 St is one thing, cutting the Inwood service altogether... I don't think so. While it may still be in Manhattan there's no direct service to the East Side. And telling someone to take the (1) uptown to get Metro North to go downtown wouldn't help them if they needed to go between 125-42. Thats 2 fares and Metro north ticket as opposed one express bus which pass through the neighborhood anyway.

I guess VG8 does not want the "riff-raff" from Inwood to board his buses lol. I let him explain further.
