  1. Wednesday coming home was really weird. I was waiting at Nevins St coming off a , and then a Flatbush-bound train came a few minutes later... on the local track. Fair enough, train get re-routed sometimes. The train was really crowded, as in you-have-to-run-down-to other-cars-and-barely-squeeze-yourself-in crowded. At Atlantic Av we switch to the express track, and the train empties out, but it fills up again somewhat. We sit in Atlantic for a minute or two, and another rerouted train comes up next to us on the local track. But wait! It gets better. At Winthrop St, the C/R announces that the train will run non-stop to Flatbush Av. Not gonna lie, I half thought he was misspeaking, but us skipping Church Avenue was a completely foreign concept to me. (It reminded me of this other incident, where a C/R said that we would be running non-stop from Preisdent St to Flatbush Av, but then a woman, who I'm guessing was the T/O, contradicted him and said that the train would be stopping at Church Av, which it did) So I decided to stay on the train, and see what would happen this time. He wasn't lying, we actually skipped Church Avenue. Hey, there's a first time for everything. B)
  2. Hey Gorgor, how did you get the symbols for Limited stops and SBS stops on the Inkscape maps to stick together. Whenever I try to move a SBS or Limited stops symbol that's not from the one you provided, I can only move the individual components and not the whole symbol. Which means I can't really use symbols of colors other than the ones you provided efficiently. Any help would be appreciated.

  3. For the 8th Avenue closure I wonder if the will be sent over 6th Avenue between West 4th St and 59 St.
  4. I've started blanking the Brooklyn Bus Map on Inkscape. Like Gorgor's Manhattan map I'll be removing everything (the subway lines, symbols, etc.) I'll have it up soon I want to clean the Bronx, SI, and Queens maps next (in that order), but if anyone wants to be me to the punch with those three maps, which would be really great, all you have to do on Inkscape is delete stuff with the "Edit Path by Nodes" button. Although some stuff like the subway lines have to be deleted twice to fully remove it.
  5. He means the viaduct from Carroll St to 4th Av-9th St. That's IND, right?
  6. No way 63rd Street can handle the , , and . I already said something similar in another thread, I'd send the via 6th Av/63rd St, and the would be sent up 8th Avenue to 168th Street or something. The Q32 and the M4 would have to be alternatives to the from Midtown to the East Side. Imagine if the Brooklyn IRT underwent some changes... Since it's a little hard to see... - There's a new track leading straight from the downtown local track to the Flatbush-bound track. So the downtown local trains can go to Flatbush, and the downtown express trains can run express to Utica or local to New Lots with no crossing at all. The runs local to New Lots (some trains run express to Utica), and the express to Utica Avenue. Going toward the Bronx, the and both stop at Kingston Avenue and Nostrand Avenue. The Manhattan-bound platforms at those stations are extended to reach the old express track. So the and are already on the express track, and the and from Flatbush end up on the local track, with no trains crossing in front of each other. The local track from New Lots Avenue is used by trains from New Lots Avenue, and right after Utica Avenue they switch onto the 'express' track. The 'local' track continues as a lay-up track right up until it ends before Kingston Avenue. The uses R142s coming from the . The uses the (3)'s R62s and the few R142 sets it has left. The only problem is, like B35 via Church once said, Franklin Avenue would look like Times Square.
  7. Combined it with the Bx27 like you mentioned above
  8. I made it on MS Paint, it's sloppy, sue me. Added the Bx19A, basically a Bx19 supplement between Riverside Park and Simpson Street that serves Gateway Mall up to 158th St. Some of the other changes I made were mainly for the lols.
  9. So here's the list of Bx1 and Bx2 stops. It's a little-long winded since the two split from each other for a while, but I tried to make it concise. Next up will be the Bx55 and/or Bx15.
  10. If you don't mind me asking, how exactly do you delete the routes and all that to get the blank map on Inkscape?
  11. He uploaded it in Inkscape and then got rid of all the routes... which I'm still trying to do.
  12. Speaking of late trains... Does anyone of any incidents on the this morning, around maybe 6:30-ish? At Fulton St, I passed up the to wait for the , which was a bad choice, seeing as how the arrived almost 10 minutes later than it normally does. But when the train did come, it was deerted, a total ghost town. Definitely nothing you'd expect from a late train. So I'm guessing it was a gap train placed into service at Jay St or something. By the time we got to 145th, we were almost 15 minutes late, and the was long gone.
  13. Ahhh... I love catching buses in traffic. Whenever I come from Kings Plaza during PM Rush Hour, I always catch the Q35 this way. Usually, I'll be waiting for the B41 to take it up to the Junction, but it won't come. Let me explain. The local and limited 41 are only scheduled to run every 10 minutes combined around this time (let's say ~6 PM) but they aren't scheduled to run evenly every 10 minutes, so you can potentially be waiting for 15 minutes for a single bus going Downtown. Seeing 1 or 2 B41 buses come by, drop off people, and head off to the depot as a crowd forms on the B2 and B41's island is just the icing on the cake. Speaking of the B2, even it comes more consistently than the B41. The B9 is arriving so-so, and the B46 is lining up and laying over in groups of 4 or 5. So after waiting for a few minutes I see the Q35, and I run up to the stop on the far side of Avenue U. Since cars usually build up at Avenue U waiting for the light to change, that gives me time to run up to the stop. The Q35 is faster, even faster than the B41 Limited. It's funny how B41 service to Kings Plaza is so much better on weekends than on weekdays. Thing is, it's usually better for me to go to Kings Plaza during the week than during the weekend. I complained about this already, but nobody remembers that B) Even if the isn't going to increase reverse-peak B41 service out of the plaza, can't they at least have the 41 local and limited scheduled to leave evenly?
  14. List of B46 stops. Let me know if there's an error or an omission!
  15. You forgot B44 SBS The B7 and B82 running briefly on Avenue P has been in effect for a while now. I don't know how it came about. The re-routing of the B47 was mainly to fill the gap left by the B100. Hmmm... any favorite flavor in particular?

  17. Ladies and Gentlemen, it's time for another round of "Spot the Service Cuts!" Wanna win a cookie? Do your best.

  19. I don't even know why any LFSAs were doled out for the shuttle; you'd think they would go to the or shuttle routes first. I'm not complaining, though
  20. I just saw an LFSA on the shuttle!! Bus #1273, one of the wrapped-up buses! I can die in peace now. I'm trying to edit the bus map on Adobe Illustrator, but it's not going quite so well. I'll get the hang of it, though. And when I do, my first map will be an SBS-filled abomination EDIT: Saw another LFSA. 1252 this time.
  21. If I'm not mistaken it's when a bus passes you by when you're waiting at a bus stop. trainfan22 seems to have a disproportionate number of flagging experiences with the B8.
  22. I like how there are five subway shuttle buses running this weekend. , since you're probably going to be using Fresh Pond buses on the shuttle and LFSAs on the shuttle, use lots of LFSes on the shuttle, m'kay?
