  1. Apparently a stalled train this morning necessitated rerouting of service to 7th Av and shortening of service (I don't know the full story.) How fitting that today was the one time I took the instead of the .
  2. Off-peak, the two branches of the Q11 have service every hour each. The Q11 and Q21 are both every half-hour. (Although, this had only been in effect for a little while.) While Limited service gets better, local service gets worse.... I remember someone on Subchat complaining that there'll be 4 routes of Woodhaven Blvd soon (Q11, 21, 52, and 53), never mind the fact that the 11 and 21 have crappy headaways and the 52 probably will too (but don't quote me on that)
  3. Just realized this error. The Q21 LTD doesn't actually stop at Pitkin Av. I doubt anybody got on thinking it would stop at Pitkin Av anyway. Although, it'll probably be fixed when the Q21 LTD is re-named in June. Well, not so much "fixed" as the Q52 will have a brand new schedule entirely or probably share one with the Q53.
  4. I also saw a couple of other 1200s but the numbers escape me right now.
  5. Right as I was walking to the store, I saw an LFSA on the shuttle.
  6. I was on a that got turned at Bowling Green for that very reason (but I didn't know it at the time) So I got on a , it was held at Franklin Av for the better part of 10 minutes but eventually we went to Flatbush like normal
  7. There's only one Q21 trip starting at Liberty Av, 6:33 AM to Arverne on weekdays. It'll probably become a Q52 trip.
  8. Here's a 1999 map with the old B18: http://web.archive.org/web/20000823062216/www.lirr.org//nyct/maps/busbkln.pdf
  9. Yes, but those Q35s are absolutely packed. There's a reason people are suggesting extra service to the Rockaways. The can't even be bothered to add extra Q35 trips for the season.
  10. @B35: These Q35 short-turns would drop people off at Kings Plaza and dead-head to Avenue S, right? Or would it end at Avenue S? About the Q52 to Far Rockaway, I dunno, is it needed? Playing devil's advocate here, but the deadhead distance for the Q52 would go up a lot and the route in general would become pretty long. Is it really bringing anything to the table the isn't already? I mean, the Q53 takes just about the same time as the shuttle to get to Broad Channel from 116th St and actually goes somewhere, but from Far Rockaway the Q22 to the Q21 takes almost twice as long as the [12 mins vs. 25 mins, not including wait time transferring between the Q22 and Q21, and the bus would probably take even longer during busier travel periods anyway...] The Q52 would be somewhat faster, but are people really going to take the bus when they could take the faster train instead? I do have to say, the idea of a faster trip on the Eastern end of the peninsula could prove to be kinda popular. How frequent will the Q52 be anyway? Right now the Q21 LTD is 15 minutes during Peak Rush Hour and the Q21 Local is all day, every day. We have no indication as to how fequent the Q52 will be, except that there will be "minor schedule adjustments" to the Q11 and Q53. Personally, I don't think there will be too much change compared to current Q21 service to Arverne. I do think a Q53 Express could work in tandem with the current 52 and 53, but I don't know if it could its own weight all-year long or just during summer.
  11. The Q35 is Limited on Flatbush Av currently, but the Q35X Shortline proposes would still skip a good 5 or so stops over the current Q35. As for this Q53 express of yours, would it serve Broad Channel? The original Q53 express did.
  12. I don't know if someone's proposed an idea like this: The B2 would be "eliminated", and there'd be two routes, the B100 and B101, running between Bay Ridge and Mill Basin. The B100 and B101 use the B2 proposed routing in Borough Park on Avenue P and E 65th St, etc. The B101 is identical to the B100, except that it serves Kings Plaza and the B100 does not. B101 route deviation: Fillmore Av -> Flatbush Av -> Avenue U -> E 66th St B100 and B101 service combined would represent current B2 and B100 service combined. Not all trips would run all the way to Bay Ridge; some trips would short-turn between Kings Highway station on the Brighton line and Mill Basin. Also, between Gerristen Av and the subway station, the B100 and B101 would run on Avenue R instead of Fillmore Av (via the B2 and B31 routing)
  13. It's for real. It's on the 's site. And this G.O. is only at night, just like FastTrack. http://travel.mtanyc...thod=getstatus4
  14. IAWTP. Maybe, Maybe I could understand the staying at 8 cars if it would mean more service. But I think it's fairly clear the has little desire to increase service, because that would mean more $$ for crews. If you give the 10 car trains but keep headaways the same, that's not a problem and at least there's more capacity. Yes, the could decrease service with full-length trains, but I think full-length trains with current headaways is the best deal. Ideally, the could have full-length trains and more service, but beggars can't be choosers.
  15. There was a stalled Utica Av-bound train at Atlantic this PM Rush, so and were turning at Bowling Green and even Brooklyn Bridge. I think a train or two from Livionia or Unionport was used to fill in the gap; when I got to the IRT platform from the a completely empty to Flatbush pulled up on the local track (The stalled train was still on the express teack)
  16. There's a recently-added grade timer signal right outside Borough Hall approaching Northbound. I guess it was added during the Fastrack back in January.
  17. It's from Scott's Transit Playground ---> http://boerumhillscott.com/transit/index.php It contains stop-by-stop schedules for all the subways, plus the NYCT Bus Routes (but not MTA Bus Co.) and a few other services as of April 2011. It's basically just GTFS data converted into an easily readable format. I'm not too familiar with the whole GTFS data thing; you'd be better off asking Amtrak7.

  18. 'Dem shuttle buses. I'm not fully familiar with the logistics of this, but I would think that Quill, 100th St and 126th St Depots would have enough buses overnight to cover an Upper East Side Lexington Ave Fastrack. Worse comes to worse, I don't think any outer borough trunk (except maybe 4th Av or Queens Blvd) would have trouble getting Shuttle buses for a night fastrack.
  19. Sedgwick Av wasn't an SBS stop initially but it was added in due to complaints. It was kinda weird how it was the last stop on the local bus but the SBS didn't stop there.
  20. The and switch is one of the more common unplanned service changes. I usually see one every few weeks, and it probably occurs more often than that. I mean, there are so many different scenarios that can necessitate a switch, it's not a big deal.
