  1. Don't you love inconsistent bus service....

Once again, the Q28 has been terrible.

I wanted to go to the movie theater at Bay Terrace, and my stop, which is along the beginning of the Bayside stretch of the route (the other side of Francis Lewis Blvd), is quite far from Flushing. Why would I say that? Because on bus time, the next bus just left Flushing. So, knowing that I'd miss my two hour transfer from before (had to go home to get something), I decided to walk there. I checked on the Q28 when I arrived, finding that the next bus was only at the stop that I am supposed to get on. At 4:00, the start of rush hour, that is unacceptable.

Once again, Q28 service proves to be terrible. My mom waited 35 mins the other day on the Q28 in the middle of rush hour, for three buses to come and crawl the way home.

Something has to be done, the bus service on this line has gotten terrible over the past year or two. Buses used to arrive on time towards Bay Terrace, now, one bus can be just leaving Flushing while the next one is at Bay Terrace. Just to piss me off even more, when I take the bus to Flushing, I see buses towards Bay Terrace 2-3 times before one towards Flushing arrives.

  2. This may not be the norm but I actually have a favored car I like to ride on when I'm taking the subway. I like to ride the 7th car from the front on southbound trains and the 2nd car from the front on northbound trains. I'm talking about IRT trains so we're dealing with 10 cars. My logic is that I want to be closest to the middle (where the action is at the major stops) without dealing with the space constraint of the conductor cab. Going northbound (or home I shall say) the exits at the stops I use most are positioned at the front of an incoming train so to reduce my walking coming out of the subway I position myself at the front. Again I don't like the motorman's cab so I take the car behind it meaning the second. One cool thing is that when I get on the (6) at 23rd before they closed the main entrance due to some damn construction is that the turnstiles were actually positioned in the front half of the train so when I paid I only had to walk a few feet to make the second car.

I like to ride either the 5th or 6th car on the Main Street-bound  <7> at stations such as Queensboro Plaza, Court Square, or even Grand Central. People at the front don't get off usually until Main Street, while people in the middle get off at Woodside and Junction Blvd.

  3. Delays  Posted: 06/22/2015  8:03PM

Q28 and Q32 buses are running with delays in both directions, due to a vehicular accident on 32 Av and Jordan St.

    Allow additional travel time.

The Q28 and Q32 run no where near each other.... It should be the Q31. Typical (MTA)

  4. I saw 6895 when it came back into service....it had the same labeling as 6701 from CMF when it was pulled back into service. Saw it in Flushing the day it was back.

Some of QV's OGs are starting to get really dogged down.....6431 has such horrible takeoff.

The Belmont Stakes specials saw a lot of interesting buses, artics and Orion Vs on the Q2 and 2 JFK RTSs(from what I saw) on the Q110. So mad I missed 5820 just by a few seconds. Didn't know there was a Q2 express.

So 6895 was repainted... Huh, unless I'm crazy or something, I remember seeing it a few weeks ago, maybe even a month, still running with that black back.

  5. I find the Q28 unreliable all times of the day, regardless what day it is. I've used it several times in the morning and afternoon (primarily weekdays), service always late. The lines at Flushing are long as hell too. Northern Blvd I guess is to blame.

I mean, Q13 service is much more frequent than the Q28 and the Q13 line today had 10 people, while the Q28 was a mess.. I think the MTA should so something about Q28 service, it is absolutely horrible.

  6. Q28 bus service in the weekend PM is awful.

Last week, I waited 40 minutes for a bus to come - the line stretching all the way past the Q13. The bus I was on was packed like sardines, and the next bus ended up passing us with 5 people on it.

This week, as I walk to the stop I see a line longer than the one last week, and when the bus finally comes another Q13 does. Unsurprisingly, at the same time, the next Q28 comes and bypasses the stop because of the Q13, and as we all pack onto the bus I come to find out that the driver is the slowest I've ever ridden on. I don't think he exceeded 20mph the whole ride. This elderly woman was complaining about how she waited 35 minutes for the bus, then how the driver drives SOOOOOOOOOOO slow.

My dad, who works at Flushing, comes back every Saturday & Sunday with a story about how waiting for the bus is always taking forever, and how service is so poor.

Like, what is happening? There is always a 40 minute wait for the next bus and then two come at the same time, one packed like sardines, the other one empty...

  7. Random thought, the other day I was riding an R188 <7> train and I was using a speedometer on my phone to check it's speed. The fastest point was between  Woodside-61 St and Junction Blvd, where it hit 46.9 mph. There were many other times where it hit 40...I should do that one day with the (N) in the 60th St Tubes.

  8. There's only two days left until it is one year after they ran the R188's on the (7). I hope they send out 7811, because it has been months since I've last rode that set (obviously because there are literally 10 more R188's out now other than it... :P )

7221 and company been in service for about a week now

I think you mean 7211, right?

  9. At the time I posted that, it had already been at least 4 hours since I had been on the 7. I didn't see, or ride, any new or converted R188 set. I only saw and rode R62As. They probably were sent out at rush hour, maybe they were all in a row and I missed them.

I was out at mid-day (yesterday) around 12PM to 1PM. I got a ride on 7906 and 7832 at that time.

  10. Today, from what I saw, there were no R188s on the 7. Got some good 62A pics including 2093 with the old tan floor instead of the current linoleum floor.

There were quite a few sets running today. 7822, 7844, 7231, 7281 were what I saw. There might have been more.

On another note, it's hard to believe that it has been pretty much a year since the R188's started running. For me, it went by pretty fast as I still remember riding the new and fresh 7821 in the first few days.

  11. Thats faaaast. That's one experienced T/O.

Yep, that was a nice T/O. I've had this T/O on the (7) twice with R188s and he would haul ass into stations, go halfway without braking and then just start braking like hell (OpenBVE style) to a stop.... I loved his rides. Also had one with different T/O who did the same, hauled ASS!

  12. Rode the (7) today. R188s running were:

    7811-21

    7822-32

    7833-43

    7844-54

    7855-59, 71-76

    7877-87

    7888-98

    7221-7900-7230

    7231-7901-7240

    7241-7902-7250

They did a nice job of cleaning 7241-7250. The lights seemed clean and brighter, the seats, floors, walls and doors seemed clean. I stepped aboard 7242 to see what had been done. It didn't look too bad. Only one of the storm doors had rust marks (the brown dots R188 7857 was mentioning) on it. Nice to see that Corona is cleaning up the converts. Didn't step aboard 7241, I was "scared" lol. No, not really, just walked to 7242 which seemed the cleanest.

Should have went on 7241, I'd like to know if they put a subway map in that car yet.... Last time I checked, there was no subway map and not even a plastic covering on it.

  13. The (A) was a mess today. I was waiting at Penn Station for an uptown (A) and let a few pass since I wanted a seat. Next thing I know "After an earlier incident, (A) trains are running with delays. The next 207 Street bound (A) train is at least 20 minutes away". At that point I got pissed (I couldn't take the (C) since I had to go to 207 Street). I got to the platform at 5:30 PM and got on the train at 6:27 PM.

This isn't the first time this is happened too. About a week ago I missed an uptown (A) at Penn Station and then hear there are delays in uptown (A) and (C) service (due to a stalled train at Canal Street). I go to take the (E) to 7 Avenue/53 Street for the (B) or (D) , and then find out there are delays in uptown (B) and (D) service as well. The MTA really needs to stop screwing me over when I take the (A) .

Speaking of the (A) line, they grinded the rails on the SB Express track from 125 Street to around 103 Street. It now makes that whining noise. I guess they are doing this to rails to have better traction (not too sure how this works).

Quick question: Does anyone know when the next pick starts for the subway? I heard the R68/A and R32 (A) are only for this pick. I better get a full length video before it's gone.

From what I initially heard, the R68 and R32 will remain until December (don't quote me on that).
