Why would China instead of Japan Kawasaki manufactures R262?

Because Competition and diversity is a thing with bidding..... #1. You make it sound like it might be a bad thing. #2. Kawasaki is not the confirmed award winners for the 262s.

If you're not aware, up to speed, these R62 replacements are under considerable planning and discussion. With that being said, nothing is said in stone yet. Patience, good sir....

Wait the (A) and (S) are suppose to be getting CBTC? Never knew that.

One thing I never understood is why they dont test CBTC on the 42nd St(S) .

    (A) from Jay St - Metrotech to Lefferts Boulevard and Far Rockaway and Rockaway (S) will be getting CBTC in next 5 years.

Same bro don't know why they don't test CBTC on the 42nd Street (S)

Both of the yards that 42nd Street Shuttle is a part of is R62As and those aren't getting NTTs anytime soon. The (MTA) is likely waiting for the R262s to come in to begin CBTC installation on that line.

    Gentlemen.....

Please give me a fruitless, logical reasoning for why would CBTC hold any obligational demand on a route serving two stations only with it's own tunnels crossing midtown 1/2 mile......???

I'm looking at the track map of said tunnels and wondering WHY!?!?

spoke a little too soon lol. 3070-3073 is still testing afaik with 3146-3149 from ENY. After that passes, then it will be finished.

3238-3242 and 3243-3247 (both 5-car production sets) are both on MTA property, specifically Pitkin Yards. They should be hitting the test track sometime soon, that's if they haven't already.

3070-73 is still on property, it still counts as compilation of delivery. Dude wasn't referring to testing really.....

R32's are dying on the (A) and (C)

As for the R211's I would say

    Base order cars:

220 cars to pitkin- 207th to retire the R32's

220 cars to Jamaica to ether retire the R46's (if still there) or to push 220 R160's back to CI to retire 22 sets of R46's.

    Option order 1:

320 cars to pitkin to retire their remaining R46's

    320 to Coney island

    Option order 2

Tbd but some of this order will be 8 car sets so automatically ENY is getting these for the (L).

    Option #2 = 405 cars (81 five-cars sets) + 32 cars (8 four-car sets)

  5. We cannot rule out the heavy possibility of a mix fleets of 160s and 211s on the (E)(F)(R), that's for sure. And if Jamaica might swap their some 46s with some Coney Island's 160s this later in the year, anything can happen with 211s, especially with fleet expansion. So the possibility of the 211s on the (N)(Q) (W) alongside with the R160s isn't that far-fetched. It depends on the  (MTA) in the 2020s if they choose to replaces a handful of 68s with some 211s and order a equivalent number of 68s replacements in the late 2020s. The chances of the 179s going to the (G) seems possible as well but who knows, we'll have to where the decade truly takes it's course.

    3050-3149: (J)(Z) Jamaica line (12.5 trains)

    3150-3237: (C) Fulton St Local (9/11 trains)

    --

    (A) : 3010-19 (1 10-car train)

    3020-3049, 3238-3327 (12 future trains)

*Each line has 11-12 trains shared.

Fixed, 12 more ten-car sets coming. Total 13 trains. overall fleet total 318 cars..... again.

Wait a goddamn minute..... that is a shameless lie and you know it..... take it from a person that uses the B6 on a regular basis, but it should be obvious to everyone. God, it's like a stolen valor case at this rate....

I haven't been following up, I'll scroll back and read through all the pages soon, but I thought the whole R211 order was gonna have the open gangway cars. That's what they kept advertising. Looks like there's only gonna be 20 cars instead. What's the test for? So that the next IRT NTTs will be 100% open gangway.

When they are exercised to success, the spec will be standard from the first option of the order to moving forward to future successors.

The RFP will be based on the terms and conditions of the QBL contract to purchase CBTC carborne equipment for installation on R179 cars and on the new R211 cars (base and options). The resulting procurement is expected to be in the form of a supplemental agreement to the QBL contract, incorporating that contract’s terms. The CBTC carborne equipment purchase for the R179 cars will provide CBTC carborne equipment to outfit 73 (four- and five-car) operating units that will be installed by NYC Transit personnel in NYC Transit facilities. CBTC carborne equipment will be installed on the first and last car of each train’s two operating units. The original R179 car delivery specification required only that the cars be prepared to later accommodate CBTC installation. The R211 carborne equipment purchase will furnish CBTC equipment to outfit 92 (five-car) operating units under the base contract, 128 (fivecar) operating units under Option 1, and 89 (four- and five-car) operating units under Option 2 to the carbuilder, Kawasaki Rail Car, Inc. (“Kawasaki”). The R211 cars are being designed to have CBTC equipment installed by Kawasaki at its manufacturing facilities. The CBTC contractor(s) will conduct training for installation personnel and will support installation of all the purchased units. Longterm maintenance provisions for CBTC equipment will also be included.

Bro most people in here can read y’all so sensitive when you get called out. Stop jumping so fast to tell people what right or wrong this is a hobby learned to be humble.

You're the one jumping to the conclusion that 10 new buses would replace 125 BUSES of said hybrids. Just sayin' "Bro"..... ☺️

Jesus..... I don't want to hear the "mind your business" bull crap because you walked right into it on a public message board site.... Honestly~

First off, I'm very sorry about that comment. I did not mean to cause any harm there.

Also, even if they were to go to Kingsbridge, keep in mind that there are currently 88 hybrids over there. Do you expect that all 88 hybrids would be displaced from Kingsbridge, and if so, where to?

In addition, why didn't they test them in Staten Island, especially on the S89 over the Bayonne Bridge? For Gods sake they just raised the damn roadway over there.

All I'm saying is that all of them don't really need to be displaced. A small number of buses can be around being that there's four to five years of life the older hybrids have within them. I like the NGs but in the near future they will be picked out into the chopping block and newer buses will be needed in case if age has a significant toll of the vehicles. Obviously, in life nothing lasts forever. DUH!!!! And for the record, it does not matter where they go. All we know is the preliminary details of where they could go and anything can be changed with just a similar command by the Ops 'there' and of course 'here'. It's all a matter of waiting and watching for new developments. Not cheap speculations and assumptions from the ass.

Looks like this bus is testing service at another depot in one of its natural habitats (aka Bronx, Queens, Staten Island).

It's a bus, not a Nat Geo Special.... Youtube

Anyways, after leaving Kingsbridge out of the artic orders, Kingsbridge could use an include in the LFS order, even if it was likely to happen.
