I think that some of these posters have no clue about the procedure, zero, nada and are just making assumptions. I know that the Sperry car operated on NYCT trackage for 25+ years and it damn sure wasn’t on the NYCT roster. I’m talking about the Sperry Rail car and not the TGO cars. I think that my buddy from Maspeth, Bill, RTOman, yourself , DTC, and a few other people understand what I’m trying to point out. Carry on

I always say that history, experience and BETTER direct source always trumps over autopilot assumptions. Salute to Sperry.

    1. You could have quoted me in this instead of talking about me in the 3rd person.

    2. No offense, but you’ve been retired for a while so you wouldn’t know what I was talking about. I was referring to the tracking system NYCT uses, specifically B divisions where everything has to be assigned an ID number to track properly in the system,

LMFAO! Needed that attention that much, huh?

Just so we understand each other better. I wasn’t talking about you, period. I was talking about anything operating on NYCT tracks from the original subway up until the present. You seem to be focusing on today’s operations specifically whereas I am talking about Identifying anything moving along any line at any time. That’s what dispatchers and tower operators have done since day one. Furthermore the Sperry Rail car is not on the transit roster, nor is the Sperry unit that operates on the LIRR occasionally. That’s my point. I’m happily retired but I still have connections with my friends in RTO, CED, and Operations and Planning. Go back and re-read the statement that Kamen Rider made asking about where it was written about operating on NYCT tracks. I was agreeing with the point. Carry on.

What more can I say? It should be easy to understand that not everything in the system is trackable and has to be in public rosters.

Regarding the shared numbering, 'who cares' when they are different builds/fleet statuses/divisions anyways, in my opinion.

What’s the point of covering the number plate? It’s not like the big (SIR) logo gives it away 😂

To keep it clean during it's long 16+-hour journey on the road, obviously.....

103-104 delivered. Kinda odd how they did it backwards but whatever.

But why is it being delivered to 36th St yard and not Clifton shops?

I wouldn't care at all lol it's here, that's all that matters. It gotta start somewhere especially if it needs it's "starting equipment". For all we know it'll go to CI first before it ships to SI

  3. Eight years ago, it was on the planning stage, the agency monitoring Bombardier on the R179s before awarding it to just anyone else. The MTA couldn't even find funding for the contract til further years later and awarded it to KRC in 2019. I really wouldn't say they waited until old subway cars felt apart, tbh. Better late than never. Otherwise, the R262s wouldn't be announced right now. (I'll give that one til the 2030s to get that one started) One major contract at a time, guys. It's just careful planning, nothing can come perfect first time around, not even us.

    foamers are not reliable sources...

Take note, newbs: THIS should be lesson #1 of the forums!

I mean, realistically we don't have any confirmation on this test of the pilot revenue service. Sure, it's possible that the train is still needs performance corrections but it's status on the matter of testing is opaque to all of us and only the (MTA) has access to that information, in question.

It had to redo the test is what i feel like some of you are not getting. It rescheduled to do the tests on April 13th and redid it's first day on April 14th, and I believe day 30 is on May 14th. Also, there are other YouTubers out there that have true info, not just DJ Hammers. I'm still confused on why 4110-4114 are sitting to get picked up and delivered when we don't even have 4090 yet...okay, i feel like I know, nvm

You're under the impression that the order will be delivered in perfect order by the numbers assigned? I almost feel sorry for the members here with OCD. .....Lmfaoo!

Sounds like a 'Kawasaki only' thing! They basically do whatever they want with their rolling stock!

This is not truly exclusive to just one builder, you know.....

    4 hours ago, Ale188 said:

No. It redid the test on April 14th because of breakdowns, homeless people on the train, and malfunctions. I think the test ends on May 13th, then after that, it hopefully will pass.

Why do I feel like you're throwing around rumors without any reliable sources to accompany it?

The first order of R211A’s are for the A/C lines and the R211S for SIRT this is all part of one order. Option 1 will depended on the outcome of R211T test.

Nope, Option 1 is said to be R211As as well, Option 2 will depend on the outcome of R211Ts. Try again.

  7. 3 hours ago, Lawrence St said:

For the R211S, are they going to be arranged in married 4 car or 5 car sets? Or are they going to flexible like the R44's?

    What?

    Five-car sets.... Fifteen Five-car sets.....

Alot of us caught wind of that since the award couple years ago.....

Put a new bulb and be done with it

    LMFAOO!

Nah, but seriously the system just needed a software reset and putting it OOS was the right thing to do. Just a few hours and "alahkazamm" back in service the next day.

I don't know what it is about the (A) that Fs up at least one or two doors on a few of every rolling stock that run on it but it do be happenin' and I've seen it from time to time LMFAO. Mostly the SMEEs. It's hilarious to me when seeing people try to leave through the door when it doesn't open at all. XD

Anyways, small teething issue..... resolved..... moving on..... more sets of coming rapidly anyways. Let's leave it at that.

Isn’t it time for the R142’s to retire? They are almost 25 years old at this point.

They got to be at least 40 years old before the worst units to be considered written off to "Fish housing" and the better units can be used for few more years of storage, then run their courses to follow sue in their demise at the raise of their future successors. Unless something changes with the time, this is a never-ending 40+ year cycle with the (MTA) rolling stock.

And before anyone asks, “midlife rebuilds” are no longer a thing. That’s what we have SMS for, to not need anything that drastic.

Yeah, don't go looking at the R188s and think that should be a thing with the existing fleet. With the (MTA) 's financial track record, that's unrealistically null....

    lol these foamers man

    Worst. Gaslighting. Ever......

A toast and rock out to more R211s and other city-changing NTTs yet to come.

Speaking of the R211A, when will the 90 day revenue service test begin? September has long passed.

Well, you can probably search the sources. In recent updates the service debut was pushed to Spring '23. But as it is always safe to say on the sites, that is subject to change or whatevs....

Why would you want the r68s at pitkin only for the rockaway shuttle when the rockaway shuttle uses whatever the (A) uses meaning the shuttle is going to be R179s/R211s

Some of you don't even think

    Could be worst.

They could be suggesting that a rush hour deadhead between The Rockaways (S) and Coney Island would be feasible every day. I mean, imagine that insanity.... LOL.

Yeah, I know that doesn't make sense either.
