  1. Service Change  Posted: 07/30/2014 11:56AM

Due to FDNY activity at Grand Central-42 St, the following service changes are in effect:

Both directions, there is no 7.png train service between Times Sq-42 St to Hunters Point Av.

Some southbound 7.png trains are terminating at 61 St-Woodside, Queensboro Plaza or Hunters Point Av.

As an alternative, customers are advised to take n.png or q.png trains making nearby station stops.

    Allow additional travel time.

Yet nothing happens on the (4)(5)(6) lines. Probably a track fire.

Due to signal problems at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr:

Northbound 4.png trains are running with delays.

Some northbound 5.png trains are running local from Franklin Av to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, then run on the 2.png line from Nevins St to 149 St-Grand Concourse.

    Allow additional travel time.

Due to signal problems at Bergen St, some southbound f.png and g.png trains are running express from Jay St- MetroTech to 4 Av- 9 St.

    Allow additional travel time.

O RLLY? MTA, first think about whether or not half of that is even possible.

    Delays  Posted: 07/28/2014  8:00AM

Due to a signal problem at Bedford Pk Blvd, southbound b.png and d.png train service delays.

    Allow additional travel time.

  3. Well since nobody replied for like 12 hours...

A medium level track fire spread has caused the entire Broadway Junction station to be evacuated and closed until the fire is extinguished. How would you reroute the (A)(C)(J)(Z)(L) ?

(A): No service b/w Utica Avenue and Euclid Avenue, via Fulton Street Local.

(C): No service b/w 2nd Avenue or World Trade Center and Euclid Avenue.

(J): No service b/w Metropolitan Avenue via the (M) and Crescent Street. Select trains run to Alabama Avenue, laying up via the yard.

(Z): Suspended. All trains in service follow (J) pattern.

(L): No service b/w Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues and Atlantic Avenue.

  4. What is the fuss about what borough Riverdale is in? It is just a neighborhood in the Bronx, and nothing can change that. If you want to be part of Manhattan, move to somewhere in it.

Back on topic, so now that the M60 and the Bx41 are Select Bus Service, I made this:

    http://goo.gl/maps/mcXig

I don't know whether the proposed route is supposed to make all the stops either in the Bronx or Queens, so I made it semi-express.

  5. Since no one has posted here for a few days:

A water main break at Houston and Lafayette Streets has cause big-time problems as BOTH the Lexington Avenue AND 6th Avenue Lines are affected by this.  The water main break caused structural problems in the area that will require a 6-8 week shutdown of both lines in the area.

    Let's say Montague is open.

    (B): Two sections-

Brighton Beach to Forest Hills-71st Avenue, via Queens Blvd Local. ( ( B ) )

West 4th Street to 145 Street or Bedford Park Blvd.

    (D): Two sections-

    Coney Island to 57th Street-7th Avenue via Broadway Express.  ( ( D ) )

West 4th Street to 205th Street.

(F): Via 8th Avenue Local - Cranberry Street Tunnel. Select NB trains run to Delancy Street. Select trains run via Crosstown.

(M): Via Nassau Street to Chambers Street. Transfer at Canal Street for ( B ) and (R) trains.

(N): Via Tunnel - Broadway Local.

(Q): Every other train terminates at 57th Street-7th Avenue.

    (4): Two sections-

    Woodlawn to Grand Central-42nd Street.

Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall to New Lots Avenue.

    (5): Via 7th Avenue Express.

(6): No service b/w Grand Central and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall.

  6. Delays  Posted: 07/16/2014  8:06PM

Due to signal problems at 167 St, the following service changes are in effect:

Southbound 4.png trains are running with delays.

Some southbound 4.png trains are running express from Burnside Av to 149 St-Grand Concourse.

    Allow additional travel time.

  7. Service Change  Posted: 07/16/2014  8:12AM

Due to a sick customer at Canal St:

Southbound c.png trains are running express from 59 St-Columbus Circle to Canal St.

Southbound e.png trains are running express from 42 St-Port Authority to Canal St.

    Allow additional travel time.

    Service Change  Posted: 07/16/2014  8:18AM

Due to FDNY activity between 1 Av and Bedford Av, there is no l.png train service between 8 Av and Bedford Av in both directions.

As an alternative customers are advised to use the M14A or M14D bus service making nearby station stops.

    Allow additional travel time.

  8. Service Change  Posted: 07/13/2014  6:01PM

Due to track obstruction at Brighton Beach, the following service changes are in effect:

Some northbound q.png trains are running on the n.png line from Coney Island-Stillwell Av to DeKalb Av.

Some southbound q.png trains are running on the n.png or d.png line from DeKalb Av to Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

There is no q.png train service between Kings Hwy and Coney Island-Stillwell Av in both directions.

As an alternative, customers are advised to use the B68 bus service.

    Allow additional travel time.

    Service Change  Posted: 07/13/2014  6:01PM

Due to signal problems at Flushing-Main St, some Main St-bound 7.png trains are terminating at 111 St.

    Allow additional travel time.

But they are passing 111th Street aren't they? Probably means Junction Boulevard.

  9. The 6th Avenue line has been closed down. Trains cannot pass between 7th Avenue, 2nd Avenue, the Chrystie Connection, and nowhere where the 63rd Street tracks are close to the 6th Avenue line. I'm not sure if the 8th Avenue line can handle it. Services affected: A B C D E F M. 8th Avenue is delayed unless you steer some 6th Avenue service away from it.

    Let's see:

    (A): Delays.

(B): Via Broadway Express to Queensboro Plaza. Trains already on CPW/Bronx run via Cranberry Street/Culver Exp to Avenue X.

    (C): Via 8th Avenue/CPW Express b/w 145th Street & Canal Street.

    (D): Two sections-

Coney Island-57th Street/7th Avenue via Broadway Express.

World Trade Center-205th Street via 8th Avenue/CPW Local.

(D): Select SB trains terminate at 145th Street.

    (E): Delays.

(F): Via Cranberry Street-8th Avenue Express. Select trains run via Crosstown. Select NB trains run to Delancy Street. Select SB trains run to Lexington Avenue-63rd Street.

(M): Via Nassau Street to Chambers Street.

    8 Av Exp: (A)(C)(F)

    8 Av Lcl: (B)(D)(E)

(B)(D) train riders, transfer at Times Square/Port Authority to continue your journey.

    (M) train riders, transfer at Canal Street to the (B)(D) or other Broadway services.

Use M5 and M7 buses for 6th Avenue. Extra M5 buses run b/w Columbus Circle and South Ferry.

  10. Let's bring this thread back.

The rails at Av U on the Brighton are broken, and trains cannot safely pass. In addition, the switches at Kings Hwy are stuck so that all trains keep going on their current track.

(B): Via 4th Avenue Express - West End Express - CI to Brighton Beach.

(D): Select trains run to Brighton Beach.

(Q): No service b/w Prospect Park & Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue.

  11. Delays Posted: 07/08/2014 5:10PM

Due to track maintenance between Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av and 36 St (QNS), the following service changes are in effect:

    (E) and (F) are running with delays in both directions.

Some northbound (F) trains terminate at Jay St-MetroTech or W 4 St-Washington Square.

    Allow additional travel time.

How could an (F) at either station at this hour of the day.Dosent sound too possible to me.

Maybe 57th st. Even that's not too great.

Still there. I could see the (F) trains terminating at Jay Street, but WEST 4TH STREET? That would delay even MORE trains!

  12. Next:

The Rutgers tunnel has broken rails and is closed.  At the same time, the switch folllowing Jay Street on the (F) is stuck in the position where such trains must go express AND there is also a problem where because of ADDITIONAL broken rails north of the turnoff to the 53rd street crosstown on the local tracks in both directions, all trains on the 6th avenue not turning to/from the 53rd street line (in both directions) must use the express track after 34th Street until 47th-50th.

    (F):

-Via Cranberry Street Tunnel. Select trains run to East Broadway or York Street.

-SB trains run express to Smith/9th Streets.

-Runs on express tracks b/w 34th Street & 57th Street. Select trains run via 6th Av Lcl-53rd St.

  13. Service Change  Posted: 07/02/2014  8:22PM

Due to signal problems at Morris Park, the following service changes are in effect:

There is no 5.png train service between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St in both directions.

Some northbound 5.png trains terminate at E 180 St.

Some northbound 5.png trains are running on the 2.png line from E 180 St to Wakefield-241 St.

Customers are advised to use the 2.png train to connect with the Bx12Bx16Bx28Bx30 and Bx38 crosstown buses for alternate service.

    Allow additional travel time.

  14. Wait, what exactly are out-of-system transfers anyway? They're not really free like they say they are at Lexington Av-63rd Street, are they?

I think that an out-of-system transfer is like a transfer from a train to a bus. It's sort of confusing since if you transfer to the (F) and then get off at a station to transfer to a bus, then you have to pay $2.50 more (that is it I am correct).

    Service Change  Posted: 07/01/2014  8:31PM

Due to signal problems at 149 St-Grand Concourse, the following service changes are in effect:

Northbound 2.png trains are running on the 3.png line from 135 St to Harlem-148 St.

Northbound 5.png trains terminate at 149 St-Grand Concourse

    Allow additional travel time.

    Delays  Posted: 07/01/2014  8:07PM

Due to ongoing signal problems at St Lawrence Av, southbound 6.png trains are running with delays.

    Allow additional travel time.

  16. Signaling and switching at DeKalb Avenue has gone haywire. A (D) train passed a green light when there was an (N) train in front of it, then it nearly crashed. A study showed that there has been short-circuiting, and the entire section at DeKalb Avenue had to be closed down. No service available anywhere where there are switches at DeKalb Avenue. Services affected: (B)(D)(N)(Q)(R). P.S. this is assuming that the Montague Tube is fixed, but DeKalb avenue is still impassible.

    (B): No service b/w West 4th Street & Brooklyn.

(D): No service b/w West 4th Street & 36th Street. Select trains in Manhattan terminate at Grand Street.

    (N): No service b/w Jay Street-Metrotech and 59th Street.

(Q): No service b/w Queens and Atlantic Avenue (by single-tracking). Select trains terminate at Prospect Park.

(R): No service b/w Jay Street-Metrotech and Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center. Northbound trains run local-Southbound trains run express b/w 36th Street & Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center.

Switch from Dekalb Bypass to Brighton is malfunctioning (during the rush hour)

At the same time, Grand Street is closed because of a fire inside the station (nobody got hurt).

    Reroute: (B)(D)(Q) .

There is no switch from DeKalb Bypass to Brighton.

  17. Service Change  Posted: 06/26/2014 10:07PM

Due to a train with mechanical problems at 149 St-Grand Concourse, the following service changes are in effect:

Some southbound 5.png trains are running on the 2.png line from 149 St-Grand Concourse to Chambers St then via the 1.png line toSouth Ferry.

Some southbound 5.png trains are running on the 2.png line from 149 St-Grand Concourse to Nevins St.

    Allow additional travel time.

  18. I was caught up in that situation at 34th Street, but they ended up sending an (A) local uptown. Wonder why.

    Service Change  Posted: 06/26/2014  5:09PM

Due to signal problems at Grand Av, the following service changes are in effect:

m.png trains are suspended in both directions between 71 Av-Forest Hills and Essex St.
