I sure didn't see any shuttle buses at all.
There was a service change on the site that said that trains were running express northbound, but what they didn't mention is that trains were running local as well. Why can't they just add those few extra words onto the site?0 -

There were a million trains operating this morning. I was waiting at 42nd Street and three trains passed by before the first train came. And I think I already missed another train, too. The first and third ones were crowded but the second one was empty. The train had to run express in Brooklyn to Euclid because of the delay. (Then an train behind us ran local instead.)

I rode a northbound that ran via Lexington Av Exp.

Probably switching onto the local track between those stations. There's a switch right after Broadway-Lafayette and another one right after West 4th Street, so that would make sense.

Saw a few northbound 's via Cranberry Street/8th Avenue when I was heading to Brooklyn today.

Due to track maintenance between 14 St and Chambers St the following service changes are in effect:
Southbound 1 trains will terminate at 14 St.
(Shuttle?) Bus service is available from 14 St to South Ferry.
2 and 3 trains are running local between 34 St-Penn Station and Chambers St in both directions.
Some 2 trains will operate on the 5 line from 149 St-Grand Concourse to Nevins St.

WTF. Since when did they do this type of thing on a weekday, and unplanned at that? Wonder how the bus thing is going to go, even though there is still local service from 14th Street to Chambers St.
EDIT: Shuttle buses only run Chambers St-South Ferry.

Yaaaaaas they're back! I saw one when passing into W4 on the .

These seats have been around for a while, at least in Manhattan. I think they're only putting those seats on the buses with the rows in the back (suburban arrangement?).
There was a line of four M42s going westbound. I was on the second one after the first one was too packed, and then it terminated at 7th Avenue (the sign said '8 AV'). I ended up waiting for the next one.
Also saw on BusTime that there were six M11s going southbound within 8 blocks of each other. Did the parade on 42nd Street cause all of these delays?

Something happen on 10th Avenue? I saw an M11 turn right from 42nd Street and it was empty. There were 3 bunched together from 42nd when I checked BusTime. Is the construction that bad, or did something else contribute to this change?

I was on a southbound that ran express on 8th Avenue. Have no idea why it was express. At 14th Street, there was a on the express and a on the local. Wonder what actually happened...
BTW it was an hour earlier than when you posted that.

That doesn't really make any sense how they would run one local and the other express...it's the same express route.
Also earlier there was a "police investigation" at 14th Street-Union Square. I was there when it happened, it was on a train. I was in the car next to the car where the incident happened, I saw police and MTA workers in the car over, and there was a woman (kneeling on the floor?). Then the conductor told everyone that the train was not going to move any time soon and then everyone in the trains were walking out. As expected the and were sent local northbound.
Dang the train that jus pulled in after everyone poured out was really crowded.

Got dam M42. I ride it a lot, and let me just say, the scheduling is off. They never really do leave at specific times. From what I can tell, they just let the passengers build up for a while, then send bunches of buses in groups (2-3 usually, I've seen 4 happen though). They are all held up at 8th Avenue. Literally, at Port Authority every morning, there's a whole line of people waiting for the M42 eastbound. In the afternoon into PM rush, they can send two buses in a group, and both of them will be packed westbound until 8th.
No wonder it's the slowest route. I think that it's the most "frequent" during rush hours, though. I can't really tell because BusTime is always hiding some buses off the radar. Is there any other single, non-branch route (M14A/D, Bx1/2, Bx40/42) that has headways of "3 minutes"? Maybe it would help if the M104 was extended to the U.N. again.
On a side note, saw 380_ on the M14D during the rainy day. Is this what causes artic. routes to have 40 ft buses?

Some and s ran express from 42nd to Canal b/c of a signal problem at 42nd this morning. Personally I didn't see anything wrong with the signal displays and the ran express across from a local. Maybe something with the trip.

It would make sense to extend the S89's hours. I mean, if they were planning to make the West Shore LRT across the bridge or something (which I don't see happening anytime soon), surely you should have had something operate across bridge during the midday first.
The S89's primary existence is to run across the bridge, right? (How did it perform before it was extended) Another option would be to extend the S59 across during non-rush hours. Might mess up the whole route, though.

lol I saw the same driver 2 times in one day on the M42.....it also happened the other day as well. Coincidences are real.
Also whatever happened to those Proterra demo buses? How long does it usually take for a demo bus to go in service, from when it first arrives?
