lilbluefoxie Posted November 30, 2009 Share #10 Posted November 30, 2009 is that Shea Stadium station?
error46146 Posted November 30, 2009 Author Share #11 Posted November 30, 2009 thanks guys, and yes that is the Shea Stadium station. The trains do not stop there except if there is a mets game or other event at Flushing meadows corona park. About the derail sign im assuming a train probably derailed there before

Joe Posted November 30, 2009 Share #13 Posted November 30, 2009 A derail sign attached to the tracks indicates the presence of a derail at that location. A derail (noun) is a device that (as you can guess) derails a railcar that passes over it. While this sounds counterproductive, they are designed to protect the mainline tracks from a roll-away railcar. A railcar that was not properly tied down could roll down a hill to the main and potentially strike a moving train.
