TheKorean Posted April 23, 2010 Share #3 Posted April 23, 2010 I I always wondered, can Genesis run on electricity or strictly diesel?
Y2Julio Posted April 23, 2010 Share #4 Posted April 23, 2010 I I always wondered, can Genesis run on electricity or strictly diesel? Only the P32AC-DM. It can run off power either generated by the on-board diesel engine or collected from a third rail electrification system at 750 volts direct current. TheKorean Posted April 23, 2010 Share #5 Posted April 23, 2010 ^Ah, so thats why they can enter Grand Central. It would be insane to allow disel engines to run underground.

Paul P Posted April 25, 2010 Share #7 Posted April 25, 2010 I believe it switches to diesel north of the Croton-Harmon area. Incorrect, regularly all locomotives switch to diesel power after 125th Street.
