Milan Posted June 13, 2010 Share #1 Posted June 13, 2010 As the (V)/(M)/(W)/(G) changes are going to take place let me revisit decisions after the 63rd st tunnel connection to QB line. 1) diverted to 63rd st tunnel 2) created as QB&6 ave local 3)(G)cut back to court square most of the times. A problem created is the absence of transfer station at the merge(diverge) of the new connection[at 36th street/northern blvd]. MTA should, after the economy rebounds make this station[36th street northern blvd] a 6 track station similar to Dekalb ave station(BMT). Two new tracks straddling the present platforms one in each direction. Have the train use the present local tracks and stop at 36th st station before entering/after leaving 63rd st tunnel line. This way riders can transfer to/from to &(V)/(M). will be unaffected and will use the centermost express tracks. Comments welcome.
LRG Posted June 13, 2010 Share #2 Posted June 13, 2010 You want the MTA to ADD ON to a station, and with what money? Foamer!
MTR Admiralty Posted June 13, 2010 Share #3 Posted June 13, 2010 Six track station? Fund that yourself.
B35 via Church Posted June 13, 2010 Share #4 Posted June 13, 2010 MTA should, after the economy rebounds make this station[36th street northern blvd] a 6 track station similar to Dekalb ave station(BMT). so this station would basically exist for transfer purposes... you do realize that the current 36th st station isn't exactly drawing in passengers... have you ever been around 36th/northern? that's the quietest/subtlest part of northern (outside of hearing trains rumble by, in the distance)....no residences over there, only thing commerical over there is the slew of car dealerships... no room for growth whatsoever.... 6 tracks for this? As if the MTA doesn't piss away enough money on virtually meaningless projects.... some of you have some wild ideas, man.... *dies*
EE Broadway Local Posted June 13, 2010 Share #5 Posted June 13, 2010 I don't think this will work too well. Yes, it's a bit of a inconvience for riders between 65th Street and 36th Street to not have the at Queens Plaza but the does the same as the did, albeit as a local. If you're at 36th Street and really want the , you could take an or to Queens Plaza, transfer to a Roosevelt Avenue and transfer to a Manhattan . vanshnookenraggen Posted June 13, 2010 Share #6 Posted June 13, 2010 If you are going to be expanding a station why not expand Queens Plaza instead? That at least is already a transfer station and new platforms could mean a proper terminal for Crosstown trains or during construction on weekends. Q101viaSteinway Posted June 13, 2010 Share #7 Posted June 13, 2010 36th Street is a dead stop anyway. That will be a waste of money that state need desperately.
