The Tram man Posted February 13, 2011 Share #1 Posted February 13, 2011 Does anybody have any interior shots of the MP70B "Doubledeckers"? I have always wondered what the interiors of those cars looked like.

N-Trizzy2609 Posted February 14, 2011 Share #3 Posted February 14, 2011 It never held more passengers then the MP54s that were closely related to them. A Multilevel make this train look like a joke as a bi Level commuter train. That's why these train became the shit of LIRR and by 1969 all they were doing were Belmont Raceway and Hempsted Runs. Then why woul they build them? They built them to add 5 more seat then a normal MP54. They were used on Belmont Park runs because they would run them in solid sets. Once the M1s hit service these were the first to go, followed by the cleversity roof MP54s, then the round roofs then the rest of the older MUs. The Tram man Posted February 17, 2011 Author Share #8 Posted February 17, 2011 The Pennsylvania liked to try out things, they wanted to be ahead. They also wanted the bleed the LIRR dry for just about every penny the could, and what better way to do that than squeez a couple extra bodies into the car. So the LIRR was Pennsys guinea pig? Joel Up Front Posted February 18, 2011 Share #9 Posted February 18, 2011 Good thing they got rid of it before it got sucked into the Penn Central mess. Unfortunately, a casualty of that was the demolition of old Penn Station. Now it has this ugly underground abyss and shares it with NJT and Amtrak, the latter of which isn't really all that great...
