Queens Surface Posted May 6, 2011 Share #1 Posted May 6, 2011 His place in the rock'n'roll hall of fame is secure, as is Paul McCartney's only slightly dented fortune – and yet still it seems that all he needs is love. Three years after his second marriage ended in an acrimonious divorce, the former Beatle is to take plunge again after announcing his engagement to his girlfriend, Nancy Shevell. McCartney's spokesman, Stuart Bell, confirmed that recent media speculation about an impending engagement was true, but declined to give further details on when and how the musician proposed, saying only: "We're all thrilled for him." The former Beatle, 68, is thought to have started seeing Shevell, a 51-year-old New Yorker, in late 2007, when they were first spotted on romantic outings in the Hamptons on Long Island. McCartney's first wife, Linda Eastman, died of cancer in 1998. A photographer, she was credited with introducing her husband – whom she married in 1969 – to vegetarianism and animal rights activism, and was also in his band Wings. McCartney divorced his second wife, Heather Mills, in 2008 after a separation period. After seeking £125m, she was awarded a £24.3m divorce payout, according to a court judgment. Shevell is said to get on well with McCartney's five children, having appeared at Stella McCartney fashion shows, awards ceremonies and at Sir Paul's concerts. Shevell is also already a fully paid-up member of the global rich. A wealthy individual in her own right, she sits on the board of the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority and is the vice president of a family-owned business conglomerate. She was married for more than 20 years to lawyer Bruce Blakeman, a close friend of former New York governor George Pataki, who appointed her to the MTA board. Grand Concourse Posted May 7, 2011 Share #5 Posted May 7, 2011 If he's 'smart' enough, he'll have a prenup this time so the wife won't take nearly half of what he has. Damn gold diggers...

Amtrak7 Posted May 7, 2011 Share #7 Posted May 7, 2011 When I read the title, I was like WHAT? I thought they were talking about a different Nancy Shevell, but really? MTA board members aren't really celebrities.
