TwoTimer Posted June 20, 2012 Share #101 Posted June 20, 2012 Nope. More 's (back to 8 min headway) will be sufficient. The reason it seems unreasonable because the headway at Woodhaven there is basically half of what it us during the week, so riders feel they are there much longer than they actually are. Going northbound, most lines are prone to some sort of bunching at the end of a line. Back to the previous point, the area is really the only prolonged area in the city (only the area of the between Myrtle and Marcy is similar) that during the day experiences such a drop in service. If you look at all other areas of the city, yes the headway is looser than it is during the week, but not remarkably so.
KeystoneRegional Posted June 20, 2012 Share #102 Posted June 20, 2012 @TwoTimer: I guess the darkness of the station and really the Express Train really makes the time tick slowly, lols. But thanks for the information and clarifications!

Some other examples of lines with at least half (or less than half) the service on weekends vs middays Pelham (3 Av - E 177 St) Astoria Lexington Avenue Local (with no GOs) Central Park West Brighton Nostrand Avenue branch (loses more than half its service on weekends) 6 Av Eastern Parkway express
TwoTimer Posted June 20, 2012 Share #104 Posted June 20, 2012 Answers in red, my responses are based on midday/evening service, not rush hour, then every line qualifies lol. Some other examples of lines with at least half (or less than half) the service on weekends vs middays Pelham (3 Av - E 177 St) - In off-peak direction only. Astoria - Yep Lexington Avenue Local (with no GOs) - Absolutely, and what's there is sufficient. Central Park West - Yep, and that's another crowded corridor since people really hit up the museums on weekends. That was the foundation of the argument for service there, but a similar answer applies there - run full length equipment, as the entire line is fairly packed until it gets to Brooklyn. Brighton - Only the express stops. Nostrand Avenue branch (loses more than half its service on weekends) - Yup, and what's there is sufficent if it only wasn't prone to bunching. 6 Av - Yup, but what's there is sufficient if it wasn't for GO's and flagging. Eastern Parkway express - Yup, but again what's there is sufficient.
