Neil Feldman Posted July 23, 2012 Author Share #4 Posted July 23, 2012 I was lazy in posting, but here are 2 shots from David Whites Lane Crossing in Southampton of Cannonball Train 2798: The rain made a nice distorted effect as you see DM30AC 508 on the rear after crossing CR39 just east of my vantage shot! Neil Feldman Posted August 17, 2012 Author Share #7 Posted August 17, 2012 Thank You, and now a lemony start to my August 17, 2012 at St. James lead by DM30AC 516 8 cars and 505 on the rear (516 only in this pic):
User Posted August 17, 2012 Share #8 Posted August 17, 2012 I really like those pics of the cannonball.
Neil Feldman Posted August 17, 2012 Author Share #9 Posted August 17, 2012 Thanks, and that was a tough location to get a good vantage point because of the greenery blocking stuff, etc.
Quill Depot Posted August 20, 2012 Share #10 Posted August 20, 2012 The photo of DM30AC 508 should win a reward. Same with the first one of 516.
Neil Feldman Posted September 3, 2012 Author Share #11 Posted September 3, 2012 Thanks, It's not easy to know your vantage points, and also takes lots of practice in getting the right type of image to make the shot. I use total manual settings to get these images correct!
Neil Feldman Posted September 4, 2012 Author Share #12 Posted September 4, 2012 Anyways, from Friday, here's 1 shot of each branch: Sayville on the Montauk of Train 2798 with a familiar face at the throttle: Ocean Avenue in Ronkonkoma of a "Grandpa" M3 operating as Train 2062: And St. James on the Port Jeff Branch of Train 658 running 37 minutes late due to another train causing congestion (Train 660 was actually running ahead of him):

Neil Feldman Posted October 14, 2012 Author Share #21 Posted October 14, 2012 After a little hiatus, here's 3 more from Pinelawn Friday (10/12): These Trains were running at 80 MPH when I took them, and trust me, it takes right settings and good eye to get the right shots. Trust me, the last photo which was Train 2058 was taken behind the fence and on the station side of the crossing with my Tamron 70-300 VR lens with my Canon EOS Rebel T4i! Amtrak7 Posted October 14, 2012 Share #22 Posted October 14, 2012 Nice! 2058 with M7's, the way it was the first and probably only time I'll take it.
Neil Feldman Posted October 15, 2012 Author Share #23 Posted October 15, 2012 And usually 2058 on a Friday is an M3, so yes I was not thrilled as I wanted the M3's since they will be retiring within a few years, but I'll take a shot the way I did it!
