GojiMet86 Posted September 21, 2012 Share #2 Posted September 21, 2012 Why do some R143's have indents, like R160's and some don't and what are their purpose? Thnx You mean where the lights are? Hm, I do remember there being a thread or something talking about how they arrived without indents, and now they have them, or something like that. Y2Julio Posted September 21, 2012 Share #3 Posted September 21, 2012 If I recall correctly, crews were getting hurt slipping off the anti-climber while climbing onto the train so those indents were created to allow better footing to get on. Far Rock Depot Posted September 21, 2012 Share #4 Posted September 21, 2012 Those foot hole indents were added. It does indeed make it easier and safer for crews. Not all of them have been retrofitted. They came standard on the 160s
Art Vandelay Posted September 22, 2012 Share #5 Posted September 22, 2012 Are there really any that have not been retrofitted? I remember watching the retrofits happening pretty rapidly, and that was over five years ago.
