lilbluefoxie Posted January 13, 2013 #1 Posted January 13, 2013 Is there a specific typeface or graphic someone created with the numerals from the older train number boards, R1 thru R38 is the last one I remember having that typeface.
mtattrain Posted January 13, 2013 #2 Posted January 13, 2013 Up to R42s had it I believe, but I don't know the font.
mtattrain Posted January 14, 2013 #4 Posted January 14, 2013 Wasn't it Akzidenz-Grotesk? It's not; there's a huge difference between some of the digits.
Guest Lance Posted January 14, 2013 #5 Posted January 14, 2013 Akzidenz is found on most of the rollsigns from the 32s to the 62s. What Jon is looking for is this font, which is Independent Medium.
Eric B Posted January 14, 2013 #6 Posted January 14, 2013 Wasn't it Akzidenz-Grotesk? That was the font of most of the replacement GOH boards for the 32's, 42's, 44's and 46's, and of course, many new cars. I'm sure the original was probably something ade up for as I don't think I've ever seen it anywhere else, though there are similar ones. Those little paper tags with red numbers you can find at cleaner's come very close. Akzidenz is found on most of the rollsigns from the 32s to the 62s. What Jon is looking for is this font, which is Independent Medium. Oh, wow; I never knew it was out as a downloadable font!
