Because ten car 160 has more doors than long eight car 46. They need more doors for passengers along Queens Blvd line. Still nice to see 46 sets on F. RollOver Posted December 16, 2014 Share #82 Posted December 16, 2014 By how much higher? -There's no official data of ridership status for any of the 24 lines in the system at the moment. -There are normally 15 trains (southbound entering 53rd/Lex in the 8:00 a.m. hour and northbound leaving 53rd/Lex in the 5:00 p.m. hour). 12 of them come to/from Jamaica Center and 3 of them come to/from 179 St. Jamaica Center can only handle 12 trains per hour, due to the crossover diamond switch being located midway between Sutphin Blvd and Jamaica Center. -The is actually more crowded than the is because more people head to/from Jamaica Center for connections with buses over there and 53rd is heavily used with commuters coming to/from PABT and Penn Station as well as those transferring to/from the Lexington Av corridor.
