DailyDose Posted January 22, 2017 Share #2 Posted January 22, 2017 Why did they have to have that stupidly huge ramp? Is an elevator too hard to install?

On PATH, there is actually a switch inside the limits of the Exchange Place station. Pay attention to this train leaving the station:
CenSin Posted January 26, 2017 Share #5 Posted January 26, 2017 On PATH, there is actually a switch inside the limits of the Exchange Place station. Pay attention to this train leaving the station: Technically, it’s a railroad, right? But I suppose they could also fence off that area to make it technically not within the platform limits (like 36 Street on the 4 Avenue Line). It’s really poor design to have switches approach too close to platform limits.

I think that section of the platform might be needed for the Newark service in the future, since it is going to be lengthened to 10 cars. The Hoboken service will presumably remain at 7 cars, and therefore will not need to use that part of the platform.
