block signal removal on 7/QBL after CBTC

The L train had its legacy block signal removed after CBTC was installed. Most of the signal heads and trips were removed. I'll assume the shunted track blocks were also made much longer for reduced maintenance of the "AWS" (aux wayside signals). Documents show AWS is limited to 6 TPH on L. Is the Seltrac system on 7 going to get its legacy block signals removed the way the L got them removed? What about QBL Trainguard system, that supposedly is identical to L (but implementation spec for "mainline" CBTC instead of isolated L might be different)?

The wayside signals will stay on the as a backup in case CBTC fails. When CBTC fails on the they can't run service from Broadway Junction to 8th Ave due to the lack of wayside signals.

Wait, then what happens to the trains already between 8th avenue and Bway junction?

So you're either evacuating or you're getting comfortable. 

This seems like a pretty fatal flaw in the CBTC system.
