  1. Because they are garbage and everyone hates them
  2. There's already aboubt 300 r179s in the yards, removing them froms service indefinitely is not an option for the MTA.
  3. It's awful but that's a convo for another time
  4. Well now we know how to grind the entire BMT to a halt.
  5. I've been saying this on this godforsaken forum for YEARSSSSSSSSS. More police are almost never the solution to anything, not only is it costly but it is demonstrably ineffective. Not to mention all of the police on civilian violence that's been occuring in the recent months. Either way, The best way to combat farebeating isn't to ask the question "how do we stop farebeating," whe should be asking "why are people farebeating" and go from there.
  6. It's pretty wild how a small group of people can strong-arm the entire population city into getting what they want.
  7. This very well could just be a shell that didn't pass QC
  8. I wonder how many of those riders are switching to either express bus or LIRR service.
  9. Looks like trains are running as scheduled despite the MTA website.
  10. I know, it's a shame that the service is essentially random though.
  11. This is insanity. It will take longer than the Q70. If Prince Andr*w really was interested in speeding up the trip to LGA he would make improvements to the existing transit options.
  12. The IRT has been a total disaster today, there were signal problems at 59th street earlier also, I wonder what the occasion was.
  13. You could also bring the back to FH71 to fill the gap left by cutting the . It would work because many QBL rider just hop on the express or when they get the chance, or they could get the if they're headed downtown, or they could get the via the .
  14. Tap to pay will eliminate this problem in a handful of years, and even on local buses there are people who just board on the back anyway and don't pay. I ride the B12 all the time and I often see people simply walking by the driver or just getting on in the back. Granted that's just my experience on one line. Having more cops in stations is just senseless security theater. Sure it may be a good optics thing and draw people back to the subway, and if it does do that good, but it is important to realize that this is just for show. I doubt farebeating will go down as past data has shown that police are ineffective at combating it.
  15. Really? I go under the river every day and the lines seems to be fastest in the tubes. 60th street, York Street, SB Joralemon, and Canarsie are quite fast. I'm not sure about the others.
  16. This looks pretty good, it's a shame that the stops on Grand didn't get consolidated but it's NBD. Are there going to be bus lanes up Allen st because that street can get pretty packed.
  17. Yeah I understand that there are timers in place NB by why are they there. Particularly in the tunnel.
  18. Why is NB Franklin avenue to Atlantic Avenue and the Joralemon tunnel on the so much slower that SB?
  19. Has anyone looked into whether or not the HEETs are effective at combating farebeating? Often times I see people who are trying to exit just go for the emergency door to avoid dealing with them which leads to a flow of people bypassing fare control via the door.
  20. Yeah exactly. It's a easy cheap way to make the subway more accessible and meeting ADA standards. Of course that wouldn't work in busy stations but it's a good solution at less used stations. These things don't need to be efficient, they just need to be there as an option.
