Sea Beach Posted February 15, 2009 Share #1 Posted February 15, 2009 The B1 has been using 1993 GM's for 15 years now! Will they ever get new busses, perhaps a hybrid or an arctic?

I Run Trains Posted February 15, 2009 Share #3 Posted February 15, 2009 Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Danger hiptop 4.6; U; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050920) Possibly, if it is a good route than most possibly it'll get some possibly one of the last since the Queens Blvd. Line is one of the best lines so it got R-160's one of the last... Um..... ok!!! I thought we was talking about buses here!

The B1 uses RTS NovaBus only and its run by Ulmer Park Depot...once Ulmer Park gets NG's I'm sure the local routes will use the NG's!

UlmerPark B6 Posted February 15, 2009 Share #9 Posted February 15, 2009 Not just the B1, the entire UPK depot needs a few new buses. And UPK does not run 1993 RTS, they run RTS from 1995-1999, I believe.
MattTrain Posted February 15, 2009 Share #10 Posted February 15, 2009 I like the RTS NovaBuses on the B1, but sometimes they can be a bit dirty, I'd like to see some of the Orion V NG buses on the B1 someday.

Vinster what about the 'other' customers from depot the B1 serves? Like the B3, B6, B36 and B74? They also have to suffer from the oldest bus fleet in NYCT now. Well the good news is that with Flatbush and several depots getting new buses, some 2000 RTS Nova (ie Bus # 9600 and 5000-5100)are now running on the B1 and other Ulmer depot bus lines. The 9600 and 5000# have the soft type padded seats on them.) Not sure when Ulmer and the B1 will get new Orions or any other newer bues. At least now Vinster you now have buses in Ulmer bulit in the 21st Century lol.

1111 Posted February 16, 2009 Share #16 Posted February 16, 2009 Aren't the newer buses bigger than the old ones? Where do you suppose they put it at the depot? They don't have THAT much space to begin with really. They got one side yard and even use an entire closed off street because of the lack of room. And the way school kids on B1 destroy the buses as it is, why bother spending the money to get new buses? As long as the old buses run, does it matter? If you are talking about length, the same, height, the new buses are taller, and width, the new buses are way wider. But there is room.
