The A train poem

Recommended Posts

The (A) train

It’s the fastest way around.

You’ll get from Queens to Brooklyn, in a hurry.

The train with the longest distance

From Inwood 207th Street, Manhattan to Far Rockaway Queens

Thirty-two miles to travel can be quite fun.

The A train

It also goes to Lefferts Boulevard.

The A has a secondary line

The C local is like a little brother

That takes up the slack of the A

So the A doesn’t have to make every stop

Late night, however

The C is too tired.

It wants to sleep,

So the A has to take over for the C.

Making all those stops

And only to the Rockaways

For Lefferts, it has a pet shuttle

From Euclid Avenue to Lefferts

The A train

It can get you to the Kennedy Airport in a hurry.

Lots of people carrying their luggage on the A

People asking “fastest way to the airport”

Riders say “Take the A”

Here’s the catch.

A passes by the Airport around Howard Beach,

Riders should be careful about where they’re heading.

Take only the Far Rockaway bound A train to Howard beach.

Their “train to the Plane” airtrain will be there for them

To get to their planes

Or Lefferts Boulevard for the Q10 bus to JFK airport.

Want a quick ride from Richmond Hill to Downtown Brooklyn?

Take the A train.

Want a quick ride from Inwood to the Financial District?

Take the A train.

Want a one seat ride from Far Rockaway to Manhattan?

Take the A train.

The A has the longest section

Without any stops

Between Howard Beach and Broad Channel

Three miles without a single stop

Good time to speed that train like a bullet!

The A train

It’s the fastest way around the city

If you miss it,

There’s another one on the way.

When you get the A going express

It’ll take you for a ride.

You’ll never forget

Like a roller coaster.

But on the weekends to take the (A) train

You'd have to be poor, or very insane

Cause to fight with the crowds and the many GO's

You'll push and you'll shove cause anything goes

You'll make all local stops, starting from here

Too bad it's illegal to open a beer

When the Duke wrote about the (A) train in his song

He'd had no insight that things'd go so wrong

So to go to Rockaway, of which one is quite Far

Do yourself a favor and go drive your car

Well you did catch the bad side of the (A). Good poem.
