  1. Via Rutgers Terminates at Canal St Via Chambers St middle track.
  2. Downtown_Track_Map_Fantasy by 163CPW, on Flickr My fantasy track map for downtown. This includes new services. New services include a blue , and an express. The is now revived aswell. New routings/tunnels, are on the and , which run in their own tunnel downtown. The and are now extended to Battery Park where a new terminal is built, along with Fulton St on the is re-built to be one level. Cortland St on the is now re-opened. tail tracks are re-connected to the Manehattan Bridge, and the abandoned section is re-configured. West 4th St, has an entirely new layout. With a new Broadway-Lafayette bypass track. There are new tracks and switches just east of 2nd Ave. The also has a new station on Ave B. There are new switches just east of the station, and the lay-up track at 8th Ave is now accessible from 6th Ave. There are also new switches on the at Canal St, along with the Cranberry St Tubes. The uptown platform @Bleecker was also moved south. (Sorry it's so small)

  4. Well here's a question to solve this question. Look at what the MTA is getting, and at what price. In your opinion, do you think that the price seems a bit more expensive then it should be, which means that they will change the motors, or do you think that the price looks OK, so that they aren't changing motors?
  5. Thanks RollOverMyHead! I did't realize that the point of moving the 143's was to have ENY only maintain two fleets! Having said that, seeing how everything besides the 46's at that point would be less than 15-20 years old, and the 68's are staying on the and , means that the cars will very rarely (if it all) be moved around until the 143's retire! Meaning, that it actually might be cheaper to install CBTC on the 179's, if it means it can be a lot more efficient for 20+ years. In addition, because the is a light line, and the will beat cars to death, that would decrease life on the 179's, and increase life on the 143's meaning that they could both be retired with the 160's, so that even more of the fleet will be uniform, thus making maintenance costs go sharply down.
  6. Assuming I can foam: R38 Slants, with R110B interiors. Has rollsigns, and luminators. Has the same RFW from the R40 Slants. It has the Bombardier propulsion from the BART cars. Inside technology: An LCD Strip Map. What that is, is a strip map, but the route, stops, and transfers are all on an LCD screen, to allow it to use multiple routes. Another advantage of an LCD strip map, is that it would double as an information-thingy. Hand-programming. Let's say there's a G.O. that causes the to go to Canarsie, but that program doesn't exist. The C/R. (or T/O) would go in to each station on the strip map one by one, and select the stop they need. This is also useful for unplanned G.O.'s that need the strip map updated on the fly, or even if your'e just bypassing a station. The same also applies for route-name. Take a look at this photo: (Courtesy of GojiMet86) http://media.photobucket.com/image/recent/GojiMet86/The%252520IRT%252520Shuffle%25252010-22-11/DSC01191.jpg Notice how it says Lexington Ave Express? Well not only can you select from bullets that are already routes, you can also add any letter, and add any color. The same goes with the route name. You can choose from pre-determined sets, or type in by hand what you want it to say. Constantly updated maps. Whenever an unplanned G.O., or planned G.O. occurs, the map would be updated to show that change. i.e. if the wasn't running between GCT and TS, then the map would have the 's last stop as GCT. This would also effect the transfers listed on the strip map. Announcements would be automated. There would also be arrows that indicate which door will be opening at the next stop.
  7. Agreed. NOW FOAMERS GET OUTCHA CAMERAS Re-routed Via Mountage, Broadway Express, 63rd St, QBL Express to Jamacia-179th St Re-Routed via CPW Local, and depending on the time, Concourse. Re-Routed Via Mountage
  8. My thoughts: Route #90: On paper, it seems like a great route, but iv'e ridden it a few times and it was EMPTY. (Well actually, every so often it gets really jam packed). I'm surprised though that a route that once had one of the highest ridership counts in the system (Route #17 Mall Circulator, was what it was called before it was extended to Troy and RPI.), is now getting cut. Actually, now that I think about it, except for Wade Road, the 190 will be running the same route as the 17! Route #21: Not surprised Flex Service: I still think that overall, it would be cheaper to run the deviant service, because of the vans used instead of actual buses. I think either way they will still have 1-5 people on them. But I should've seen this coming, after the sever cuts they made to the 611/612 last year. Route #29: Didn't really see that coming. IMO This whole "two part service" is BS, and is just costing riders more money, and this might discourage riders coming from Mechanicville. Even if deadheading is an issue, they could've split it with Troy. Route #82: Iv'e never really taken a good look at this bus besides the last stop, but it's replacement seems decent enough. Route #719(19/21X): I suggested they do this a LONG time ago, seeing how after the buses are merged there still might not be standees, because it can't be cheap to deadhead one diesel 10-20 miles let alone two. Route #35X: Given the cuts on the 22, I am not surprised service remained the same. Route #63: It seems like a waste of money to re-brand it, but ok. Route #70: This should NOT have been re-branded. It goes into Troy and Schenectady, and is considered a "trunk route". The only good reason I could see this re-branding for, is because of the fact that it has hourly headways. But even then, so does the 50, and that wasn't changed during Schenectady Re-Constructing. (Granted, the Schenectady Changes, were primarily made for cuts, but nevertheless) Route #22: hopefully the buses won't leave the same time as the 522.If they don't, then everything here is fine. (As long as they're ready for standees on a regular basis) Route #10: Eh, not really needed. Route #117: See Flex Service Route #155: See Flex Service Route #190: See Route #90 Also, here's what I would've done for Flex Service; Combine all of the routes into one bus called the 600. It would start at Our Lady Of Life Mercy Center, go down Route 20, pulling into 20 mall, Corporate Circle, then go up New Karner Road, then turn down Central Ave, keep going down Central to Colonie Station/Center where it would follow the 610. In this scenario the 114 would be extended down Washington Ave Ext. Another possible solution I had was to have the 600 start from 20 mall, and have the 10 extended to Our Lady Of Life Mercy Center. (Seeing how the signs still have the 10 on there from the few trips a year or two back.)
  9. Route #90 (Crossgates/UAlbany/Latham/Troy/RPI) Will be discontinued due to low ridership. Route #21 (Altamont Shuttle) Will be discontinued due to low ridership. All Flex Service Routes (#610/#611/#612), will be discontinued, and replaced by fixed route service along most of the current routes. Route #29 (Albany/Cohoes Via Route 9) Will be split into two parts; Route #129 (Albany/Latham Via Route 9), and Route #182, (Troy/Cohoes/Latham), and will have a different routing in Cohoes. Route #82 (Troy/Green Island/Cohoes) Will be replaced by Route #182 (Troy/Cohoes/Latham), and will no longer serve Green Island Industrial Park. Route #19 (Voorheesville) Will be re-named Route #719 (Altamont/Voorheesville) and will be extended to Altamont Route #21X (Altamont Express) Will be merged with Route #19 (Voorheesville), and will be re-named Route #719 (Altamont/Voorheesville.) Route #719 Will NOT be providing service on Route 146. Route #35X (Albany/Troy Express Via I-787) Will be re-named Route #522 (Hudson River Express). Route #63 (Route 20) will be re-named Route #763 (Albany/Schenectady Via Route 20). Route #70 (Troy/Schenectady) will be re-named Route #370. Route #22 (Troy/Albany Via Watervilet) Will be re-named (Troy/Albany Via Route 32), and will get service cut back to every 20 minutes. Route #10 (Western Ave) Will now be running every 15 minutes, due to growing ridership on the corridor, and to supplement Route #12 (Washington Ave). NEW ROUTES NOT YET MENTIONED: Route #117 (Wolf/Shaker) This route is essentially, an fixed route version of the 610, but the 117 will also have select trips go to Beltrone (Senior Housing) Route #117 Will no longer serve ITT Tech or Albany County Nursing Homes. Route #155 (Suburban Circulator) Starts at Albany International Airport, goes to Albany County Nursing Homes, ITT Tech, then go down Watervilet Shaker Road, followed by New Karner Road, and will then go down New Karner Road to Route 5, where it will go down Route 5 to have a same-stop transfer at New Karner station for Route's #355 and #905. Buses will then go down Karner Road, New Karner Road, and will then make all EX-611/612 stops on Washington Ave Ext. to Crossgates Mall. Route #155 will NOT serve Crossgates Commons, as there is currently a free shuttle, the 12, and 712 that provide service between Crossgates Mall, and Crossgates Commons. The bus will then go down Western Ave to 20 Mall, with select trips also going to Corporate Circle, and Our Lady Of Life Mercy Center. Route #190 (Fuller/Wolf) Will start at Latham Farms, will then go around to Latham Center, where it will go down Wade Road. The bus will then go down Old Wolf Road, and Wolf Road, to Colonie Center. After Colonie Center, the bus will continue down Central Ave, Fuller Road, UAlbany Collins Circle, Fuller Road, and Western Ave, to Crossgates Mall. http://www.cdta.org/news_detail.php?id=203 http://www.cdta.org/uploads/PublicMeetingBrochureAugust2012_Web.pdf
  10. If you buy a monthly or a weekly from GCT-Poughkepsie, can you use it for GCT-Croton, or New Hamburg-Beacon?
  11. Finally got this damn thing out of my eye. It was in there 5 HOURS. I couldn't sleep because of it. My eyes have been watering for the past hour trying to get this thing out. Last time I checked, I was trying to get it out so much, my eye was like demon from a horror movie-red. Oh well, it's gone now. Time to move on.... EDIT: This bird is trolling my cat... Having it run all the way around the house from window to window...
  12. Getting home from the train G.O. Monday night/Tuesday morning at about 2AM, I noticed work being done on the southbound track at Delancey, and work being done on the west of Union Square. Anyone know why? It certainly wasn't scheduled. And whatever the work was on the it was some serious stuff, because I saw this one guy walk on the platform from the track who was sweaty as hell. Also another question, can they do track work on the while trains are still running? I thought that wasn't allowed because of CBTC. Either way my train (Eastbound), went about 5mpish to 3rd Ave.
  13. Jamaica-Alabama Ave (Turning around via ENY yard) Manhattan-Chauncey St Suspended If possible, a few spares are sent out of ENY to do shuttle service between Chauncey St, and Alabama Ave, stopping at Broadway Junction.
  14. Anyone else going to that (J) train G.O. tonight?

Yes, track work on the Queens bound track. Most of it is at bowery IIRC. You will be seeing J1 used a lot more later this year because of long term work at Bowery.

  15. Just real quick: I was referring a different part of Wilton, that doesn't show the apartments in street view.
  16. Wilton. Look up "Wilton, NY" on Google. That place is mainly apartments. Tell me that isn't the suburbs. Don't forget, Albany has 500,000 people in it, but it's pretty much a suburb. (Despite what the upstate natives tell you.)
  17. I wish Albany would realize that.... And a CDTA random thought: #4014H is the best bus iv'e ever ridden. But get this- It's a Gillig.
  18. I was thinking it said Williamsburg. Not Williamsbridge.
  19. Iv'e seen it. Caught it at West 8th last time I was in the city. But that was almost two months ago.
  20. Next: Liviona Yard and 148th St yard blow up. This means: 1. No trains can travel between 148th St, and 135th St 2. No trains can travel east of Pennsylvania Ave 3. The IRT now has 300 less cars. Re-route services, and alter TPH's as necessary.
  21. I think that it's because it would simply cost too much to shorten it, and they want the additional flexibility.
