Because I can’t leave you children alone for hardly 10 seconds…

the 211T set at Jamaica is for CBTC integration testing. See how well the train behaves while under CBTC operation.

it is not there for passenger service. Not yet at least.

Someone else on a discord (who claims to be in RTO) was making this claim over the weekend, which is where I think the poster got it from.

Today was the first time I’ve seen an M102 to Lex Av-24 St.

That's typically only used to turn around a very late bus before it reaches Cooper Union. Used to see them occasionally at Hunter with the old "M102 24 ST" sign up which got changed about a year ago.

I don't think the general public cares that much, they just want reliable service and decent A/C, which from the public POV, the 75 FT cars offers.

When normies get kicked off of a train because the doors stopped working, that opinion changes real fast. Just last week the (N) lost three trains in one day with mechanical problems. Those longer wait times start to pile up.

After the situation at CT Transit, MTA requested NFI install a warning device to go off if the batteries are overheating or are experiencing technical issues. NFI is in the development of said tech. MTA requested the entire order to be delayed and the buses to have the tech new from the factory versus delivering the buses now and retrofitting them once the tech is available. NFI said if the order is delayed, MTA has to pay because of “inflationary costs”. The “adjusted inflationary cost” is an additional $79,890 per bus.

It says a lot about the state of manufacturing these days that such a common sense component was not already developed and installed on these buses from the jump.

Any thoughts on this information that was posted on YouTube?

As much as I personally would like to see an R211 on the (N) (really its just I wanna see full color bullets again) there is no need for Broadway to get them. They can get R268s in ~10 years.

Any combination of (B)(D)(E)(F) would be ideal landing spots for the R211s given CBTC install and crowding conditions and one simply needs to ride one of the current sets on the (A) to see it in action.

The extend of the discourse is just going to be this in circles until something actually happens.

What is the MTA's current top priority in regards to the C:

    1. Make the C 100% NTTs for 8th Avenue CBTC?

    Or

    2. Make the C 100% full length?

That is a question that only time will tell.

Any delays with 8th Avenue CBTC may allow the r46's to stay longer on the A/C.

I would assume that the short term goal is number 1 and the longer term goal is number 2.

Is it concerning that (as far as I know) there have not been any R211A deliveries in over 2 months?

They stopped for a while because the track they used to enter the system was under construction. They accepted another R211T set last week so we should be good now for further deliveries

The (R) is one of those lines that are often controlled by council people in the NY government. I'm sure Justin Brannon would have a field day with the TA if they cut the (R) to be in favor of the (N) and (D). I hate what politics does to our transit system.

Actually I think he would approve of that given the alternative, as long as the (D) remains as frequent as it usually is. The shuttle buses on 4th get universally panned by politicians and residents in the neighborhood alike.

My bad, y'all. I was mistaken: my interior sign is for an R62A, not R62.

That's not a problem. Could I get the destinations on a single line of text like a 62 sign though?

Also could I get an R211 (R) sign?

    (R) via 53 St/6 Av Local

    (R) 4 Av Local

    (R) Bay Ridge-95 St

  10. Looking at the video that everyone is talking about, the door lights did not actually glitch out. The train was using the local program on the express track so the train thought the doors were going to open on the left but actually opened on the right. This suggests that the door lights and Door Open sign are linked to whatever program the train is signed up for.

Wait. If they took a train oos this morning, why would that train run from Dyckman St in Manhattan all the way to Euclid in Brooklyn, where there is 207th St Yard? Isn’t 207th qualified to fix New Tech Trains’ problems when it’s at close range?

To add on to what Fan Railer said, crews have been instructed in the R211 service bulletin to only return the train to Pitkin Yard when a problem occurs on the road.

It is very typical for the MTA to wait until subway cars are falling apart to replace them. If the MTA was really smart, they would have included the r262's and whatever car order that will replace the r68's in the current capital program.

The base order of the R262 is funded in this capital program
