  1. More info on the Lift-U Solid Platform Lift, a common lift on accessible Orion V's: http://www.lift-u.com/products/liftsramps-for-transit/solidplatformlift-lu10/
  2. Simply reinstate a variant of local service back on the S79. It sucks that the only access to the bypassed stops is to transfer to the S78 along Hylan.

  5. City officials said that starting Monday, they will begin removing homeless people from the E train. QUEENS — The NYPD and the MTA plan to clear homeless men and women out of the subway system after a skyrocketing number of people have sought shelter there from the brutally cold winter, police officials said. The plan, which is set to begin before dawn on Monday, comes amid an upswing in homeless people in the subway system during the exceptionally cold winter. There were more than 1,800 people living on the subways in 2013, up from 1,000 in 2009, according to the city's annual HopeNYC street survey. Starting Monday at 3 a.m., teams of transit workers, NYPD officers and emergency medical technicians will go to the E train stations at Jamaica Center and at the World Trade Center, officials said. Each time a train pulls into one of the two stations, teams will check each car, and take all the homeless people inside to either a shelter or hospitals, officials said. The trains will then be cleaned for the morning rush hour. "We are not doing this to be cruel to them," Christie Hofmann, a New York City Transit official, said at a Wednesday night meeting. "[Homelessness] is not going to get solved overnight, but we are working on it together with police officers." The initiative was partly launched to help improve conditions for other riders, officials said. The operation will begin on the E line, where the problem is most visible, and will later move to other subway lines throughout the city, officials said. “It’s going to be a really comprehensive effort to alleviate the homeless condition that we have,” said Deputy Inspector Michael Telfer, who oversees Transit District 20, which covers part of Queens. 6. For a concept it isn't bad. Seems to border between the standard and WFD RTS models.
  7. Not necessarily. If NICE is interested in purchasing New Flyer products as some have mentioned there is the possibility of direct negotiations rather than issuing a competitive RFP. And if a RFP is still issued New Flyer may still be the most compliant to the criteria NICE has set.
  8. My regional location leaves me used to earthquakes to an extent. Luckily I've never have had to deal with any damage of sorts, but there's been some crazy ones. Anyhow, back to the topic (ironic, I now), it's amazing where roses, a box of chocolates and a good Merlot will take you in one night.
  9. Well that's actually the term most in the industry use. Time's running out...
  10. Easier said than done. I'd mention it here, but I'll wait for a PM. Also going to be out most of today.
  11. Thanks for contributing to the demise of another one of my threads dipshits. Some advice, lose the power trip and step in and refute the points how you see fit. Signed, This Motherf*cker.
  12. One should not let dubiety get the better of them and make the individual snide and dismissive of other viewpoints.
  13. Exactly. Incidents like these are contributing factors for the increased regulation on firearms nationwide.
  14. Well there was justified hell raising with the Zimmerman trial. Personally I think FL's residents have had enough.
  15. Passengers are competent enough to manage and differentiate multiple services? Get out of here.
  16. They're leaving it. It is the MTA after all.
