  1. The route is supposed to be transit museum to 80 St, 80 St to Jay St, Jay St to Coney via Culver, Coney to 36 St via West End, 36 St to Coney via Sea Beach, Coney to 59-CC via Brighton & 6th Ave. Or in other words, via EVERYTHING.
  2. Well I don't know how you operate, but I use the horn on a pretty regular basis - to signal for help and to get people off the yellow line when I'm trying to observe. It's also been proven that customers are 10x more likely to listen to your announcement if you make it right after turning off the air comfort, so I do that at the 2nd to last stop if the train is a layup/relay and whenever we're encountering a reroute or GO. It'd be a bit of an inconvenience to have to walk to the other end of the car (and TWICE if you have to turn it back on!). Oh, and don't give me that "ask the T/O to do it for you", because #1 the C/R is in charge of the train and #2 the 32's don't have IC's either, and I don't want RCC or the customers knowing our business. I guess I'll have to settle for the NYCTF readers knowing it though...... The gauge and speedometer aren't NECESSARY, but they're the only way to tell what is going on up front, especially when you're stopped on the off-side and can't see the signals. If my T/O is taking 80 lbs of air, I know we got a red signal, and when he releases it, I know it's just changed. Not to mention that the gauge is the best way to tell (since the 32's don't have a TOD) where on the train you have a pulled cord. I am utterly amazed and shocked when I found out what kind of amenities the TA used to expect C/R's to operate without. For the longest time they didn't even get RADIOS!
  3. Well, the thread is done for me, at least, so you're gonna be waiting quite a while......
  4. What are you waiting for? The is getting some R160's (they had one running on Sunday), the is getting some R32's (already have some running), the is keeping the R46's. End of thread.
  5. ....and a speedometer, horn, air comfort & carbody light on/off switch, and reset button. Not to mention the master controller and brake handle.
  6. Yeah, I don't make up fantasies on here, if I'm predicting something, it's based on actual discussion with management, not just "wouldn't it be cool if they did THIS?" Anyway, I can tell you with certainty that the is never going to see the R32's again. They have been specifically banned from that line, as well as any other line which runs with 10 cars, due to the lack of proper controls in the B-cab for conductors, As far as I know, the R160's HAVE been approved for the Rockaways again, but don't get your hopes up because only 5 car sets would run on that line.
  7. I called this first back on http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/36322-r32-ac-line-fleet-swap-discussion-thread/page-132?do=findComment&comment=682832 Page 132 and you downvoted me, and now you're saying the exact same thing!?!?
  8. Yes. Only controlled the one switch north of the station, and has been fully decommissioned and is now controlled by 240 Master. The room still gets used by platform crews when 1's terminate there, as it has a bathroom. BTW - the abandoned elevator is right across from the current ones, but on the northbound platform. And note that during that GO, all of the ©'s which were layups terminated at 145 Upper, so that they could run to the yard.
  9. Eh, I gave him a hint and got downvoted for it. So I guess it'll just have to stay unknown.
  10. Unknown by wikipedia, maybe.....think, what is JUST NORTH of 168 St station?
  11. He wasn't a kid. He had to have been at least 25...... Go back a couple pages and you'll see the reasoning for ENY sending R160's to the
  12. I don't know, but I'm going to take a guess that there were more people riding the 7 than usual this morning......
  13. It went something like this. Me: This is Jay St-Metrotech, transfer to the and cross over for & towards Manhattan Foamer: Hey when is this equipment gonna start running on the again? Me: It isn't. This is a local train to Euclid Ave Foamer: But they did it last summer! Me: Well they aren't this year. Next stop will be Hoyt-Schemememrmerhorn Foamer: But they do it every summer! When are they gonna do it? Me: *ignores him cuz I already answered him twice* Stand clear of the closing doors please! And realizm, I just took a long vacation (both from work and the message boards) last month. I'm out of vacation days for the year....but yeah, I could use another one already.....
  14. Alright, so which one of you was the guy who came up to me at Jay St last night and asked when the R32's were gonna start running on the again..... and then wouldn't accept my answer when I told you THEY AREN'T.
  15. Sure 207 can handle the 160's. They handle them on a pretty regular basis in the overhaul shop. The has their own dedicated fleet separate from the .
  16. 1/2. We DON'T know leaving Lafayette. Hoyt St tower can't see anything except Hoyt St, so they don't know either. It's just a matter of which one appears on the tower board first when approaching the interlocking. One of these days the Fulton St line will get a master tower and then problems like that will be rectified. 3. If you're that worried about getting to work late, stop blaming the crews and take an earlier interval, so that there's no question of you being late regardless of who goes first.
  17. Sorry, let me clarify - swap the 32s with the 160s .... OF COURSE you won't see the 32s on the !
  18. I have a prediction. Swap the ENY R160's for the 207 R32's. This way the gets good A/C, the R32's get confined to a route which is mostly outdoors, both lines remain 8 cars, and 207 and ENY can both handle those equipment. And those idiots who picked jobs on the this summer assuming they'd be avoiding working the 32's on the can stop their bitching about being stuck with 32's the entire pick.
  19. 11. DON'T BE LATE. If your report time is 2:57, that does NOT mean be there by 3PM. If you ARE going to be late, get on your phone or radio and let whoever you are signing in with KNOW that you are going to be late AS SOON AS you know you are going to be late, even if the cause of lateness is due to a TA delay. This is the #1 thing that will make or break you here. When I was on probation, I always aimed for getting to my sign-in location at least 20 minutes early, or 40 minutes if it was early AMs/midnights.
  20. Ugh, someone really needs to tell whoever have been programming these new NYCT routes with working timers that once an automatic clears to green, the next signal CAN NOT still be displaying red+lunar white!!!!! This happens on the A route between 168 and 145. Also, if it's the A to Howard Beach, why the hell does the C/R play the "if you are going to JFK airport, you must change trains at Rockaway Blvd" message between Hoyt and Nostrand?
  21. I've been running into a lot of school car classes the last couple days! There was a T/O class at 168's crew room Sunday night, and then a R-46 racing me up 6th Ave on Monday night, and I also ran into the A-B transfer C/R class at Coney Island!
  22. Watch it. If they terminate a at Smith-9 tonight, they might realize what a good idea that is and start doing it permanently. Please don't give them any ideas.
  23. Yeah I always thought it was cute how so many people (especially all of YOU who should know better) think that the is its own distinct line with separate equipment and crews from the . The 32's can end up on the runs, no reason why they can't. I've already discussed the reasons why it won't be running on the
  24. .... on the other hand, NOTHING makes the pax more angry with us than making an announcement that turns out to be false. When we don't know EXACTLY what is going on, it's often better to say nothing rather than make something up or make a guess. Whenever a and come into Canal St side by side, or a and at 59 St, the customers immediately run up to us and ask who is leaving first, before we even know ourselves. Lately I've just been saying "I don't know yet" rather than try to make an assumption.
