  1. Well aware. Some people in this discussion do not get the point.
  2. The concerns of other motorists are outweighed by those of bus riders. We are in a climate crisis and need to get people out of cars. If anything, increasing the travel times for drivers will incentivize them to switch to transit.
  3. This idea is amazing and will ensure that bus lanes are not blocked. I don't know what your issue is. This should be the model whenever the roadway is wide enough. Woodhaven SBS should have been done like this. This could be done on streets line 164th Street.
  4. This was because of legislation passed by the New York State Legislature and signed into law by the governor. The MTA has no say in the matter.
  5. Here are updates for the E. L. Grant Highway project, which is about to get under construction, and for 149th Street https://www1.nyc.gov/html/dot/downloads/pdf/edward-l-grant-hwy-cb4-jun2020.pdf Screen Shot 2020-06-26 at 9.52.36 AM by Union Turnpike, on Flickr Screen Shot 2020-06-26 at 9.52.46 AM by Union Turnpike, on Flickr Screen Shot 2020-06-26 at 9.52.51 AM by Union Turnpike, on Flickr Screen Shot 2020-06-26 at 9.53.02 AM by Union Turnpike, on Flickr Screen Shot 2020-06-26 at 9.53.11 AM by Union Turnpike, on Flickr Screen Shot 2020-06-26 at 9.53.16 AM by Union Turnpike, on Flickr Screen Shot 2020-06-26 at 9.53.22 AM by Union Turnpike, on Flickr https://www1.nyc.gov/html/brt/downloads/pdf/e149th-st-cb4-jun2020.pdf The 149th Street project was already part of the Better Bus Action Plan but was moved up as part of the Better Bus Restart. Unfortunately, the lanes won't be 24/7. This is the first time the hours of lanes for any street will be 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.. The DOT usually does 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.. 6. @Via Garibaldi 8 It is amazing that you got on the community advisory board. Do you know when presentations will be given to local community boards? Thanks for the great work you are doing.
  7. You should share your extensive international collection. I learned a lot from it.
  8. Chicago manages to safely have track workers work at night.
  9. They have been doing this for years. Wonder what happened to midday 7 express service? Track workers like working midday so the cut was made permanent.
  10. @RR503 It never ends. All supplements are becoming the base weekend schedules. Screen Shot 2020-06-19 at 5.43.46 PM by Union Turnpike, on Flickr Screen Shot 2020-06-19 at 5.44.10 PM by Union Turnpike, on Flickr Screen Shot 2020-06-19 at 5.44.39 PM by Union Turnpike, on Flickr
  11. I am fascinated by bus routes and their history, but not so much about specific bus models. There are too many for me to keep track of.
  12. You really just quoted the posts at the beginning of the thread from 2011?
  13. We haven't left the first wave yet. Just keeping the curve constant isn't all that needs to happen. It needs to go down.
  14. There is no need for that. You want an at-grade junction at 9th Street that wrecks PATH capacity and limits TPH to 33rd Street? Not a good idea.
  15. That is why it bothers me seeing all the fanning videos on Youtube. If they are from a transit employee who has to be using the system that is fine, but people should not go into the subway to railfan at this time. I don't care if the R32s come out for one day. They are my favorite cars. I am not going to put myself and other people at risk.
  16. When you have a few hours to kill between getting off a flight at LGA and taking a flight from JFK home.
  17. The GO with the removal of Kings Highway is going to be very interesting. It is more than just a few trains ending at 18th. I would love to fan it, but won't due to the pandemic.
  18. Fixing what they screwed up at Forest Hills would be nice as well.
  19. You need to solve Roosevelt to deal with it, which likely means turning Woodhaven into an express stop, though I would prefer having my 45-50 mph express run.
  20. https://www.thecity.nyc/2020/6/3/21279505/undesired-uncoupling-leads-mta-to-pull-264-new-subway-cars-out-of-service Until the latest problem, 264 of the agency’s 318 R179 fleet had been in service. They were pulled within hours of the uncoupling, according to spokesperson Meredith Daniels, who added that the agency has enough spare cars that it won’t need to move older units from its yards back into service.
  21. https://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/ny-subway-cars-r179s-decoupled-mta-20200603-qg7epr6xxvatrlwti2jmza72xe-story.html The breakup occurred because a pin was missing from a metal bar that holds the cars together, said a source with knowledge of the incident.
