  1. Yesterday's Parade of Trains was very successful! It was a fun time. Met familiar faces. The BRT Gate Cars attracted the most attention. It was so popular that after the other trains went out of service, they decided to do one more run with the gate cars by popular demand.

  2. Yesterday's Parade of Trains was very fun! I met alot of familiar faces. The BRT Gate Cars were the most popular. In fact so popular, they decided to do one more run with them. I'm happy the Transit Museum did this. Hopefully, events like this can happen again in the future. :)

  3. Awful bus, a/c was horrible, heat was horrible and worst turning point ever. I remember on school trippers those horrible kids use to throw the seat cushions out the windows.

Not to mention the hybrid drive system was a bust.

...plus there was only 10 of them

So they were just simply crap then? If so, oh well. :/

  4. 4280-4281 are at 207th signed for the Broadway Shuttle to Brighton Beach, so expect to see those soon. Weirdly, they're attached to 4572 (same sign) but 4571 has been broken apart and isn't there. 4572 is linked to 3518-3519.

This must mean these two are participating in the events of the 25th-26th.

  5. These are basically the pros and cons of each option.

    Water St

    Pros

No demolishing required, no service disruptions

Serves the biggest unserved cluster of jobs

Allows lining up for future extensions into Brooklyn

    Cons

More expensive, but not by a lot

    Nassau St

    Pros

    Cheaper, by a little bit

    Allows day-one service into Brooklyn

    Cons

Not actually that much cheaper because of the need to extend stations for train lengths and expansion for ADA accessibility

Very disruptive to service on Nassau St and Chrystie St

Does not relieve the Lexington Avenue Line downtown as much

Requires lots of property taking and demolishing

As far as Hanover Sq goes, there's supposed to be a station entrance at Coenties Alley. That puts you roughtly the same distance away from South Ferry as Bowling Green. Any closer and you encroach on necessary tail tracks for Phase IV/the future expansions south.

In others words (for the second part), don't send the 2nd Avenue Subway down Nassau Street. :/

  6. Doing a route proposal. This is for fun and not a serious one.

The route would be called the QM27. It starts at Terminal 5 at JFK airport with the Q3, Q10, &  :bus_bullet_b15:. It would then follow the Van Wyck Expressway until Exit 9 (where it leads to Queens Boulevard). It would continue until the LIE where it would join with the other routes. It continues into the Midtown tunnel and follow the QM16, and terminate with it. The return trip would go follow the QM16, and stick with it until 19 (where it again leads to Queens Boulevard). It would stay on that street until it hits the Van Wyck Expressway (where it would turn right). It enters the expressway, and heads straight to Terminal 5 of JFK airport to terminate. It would be active on weekdays and weekends only. The route would operate with JFK Depot. Purpose of this route is to provide a direct connection between Midtown and JFK airport.

  7. Sorry I don't follow the subways as much but I heard one R188 set has been out of service for a year or so? 7860-7870?

It's funny because when 7855-7859 came, it was attached to 7871-7876 because (7860-7865) had compressor issues.

Is that the same problem still going on? Or something else happened to that set?

The set you mentioned (7860-7870) must have been selected to undergo CBTC testing.

    The others, I don't know.

  8. I imagine of the following;

-Some video game & cartoon characters are railfans (characters from the Sonic universe, some of the Toads, toons, etc.)

-Sonic, Tails, Mario, Luigi, and many others have interest into the NYC subway, and taken pictures of the system in the past. They still do so on some occasions during their freetime. (I would imagine Sonic, Mario, and Luigi being Redbird fans, and Tails being an R110A & B fan.)

-Video game & cartoon characters attending the Holiday Train, along with fan trips.

To add on another note, I would also imagine the 4 (Sonic, Tails, Mario, Luigi) participating in the ERA fan trips that used to be common back then (the brothers starting in the late 1970's; Sonic and Tails with the R30 farewell trip) with all 4 of them (along with others) attending the last one in 2002.

    What do you think?
