  1. Those complaints came from Riders Alliance In Brooklyn not from 8th Avenue Riders.

But regardless, passengers have complained about them. Here's one quote from a commuter in a Daily News article back in August 2015.

    "They stop a little harder."

One from a New York Times article (here's the link; http://mobile.nytimes.com/2011/08/26/nyregion/for-often-late-cars-of-subways-c-train-retirement-must-wait.html?_r=0&referer=https://www.google.com/)

    "It's loud, it's bad.

  2. Sounds pretty bad. Atleast its better than the time they had to emergency trackwork on the (1) during the PM Rush which happened.

Yeah it was bad, My (2) was held between 110 and 96 for about 5 minutes.

It was really bad. I was with my mom when it happened.
  3. GAH!  :deadhorse:

    XD

Today's morning rush was pretty bad.

On the (1) at 110th Street, the conductor said that there was a disorderly passenger at 96th Street. When at 103rd, it was then announced that the train was going express from 96th Street to 72nd Street. I got off at 96th, and the (1) train across the platform was almost empty, while the other (1) train, running express, was crowded. It leaves soon after. Whithin a few minutes, a (2) train arrives (which I board); it was really crowded. Adding to that, it was also a slow ride as well.

  4. Project Update:

The new R179 has reportedly passed the audit inspection, or is on the way to passing it. At this time all is going as plan, and Bombardier will continue to build cars for to accelerate delivery. As I previously posted and told everyone to mark my words, it will not take as long as the news told everyone it would.

Bombardier is building all of our new cars now, and any configuration changes that may be required will be worked into the cars parallel as they come off the assembly line.  Pilot due in 90 days. Total delivery still expected by summer 2018.

Full overview coming this evening!  B-)

Just counted the number of days from today; the pilot should arrive on June 2nd.

Can't wait for more news! :)

  5. I know him but not too well. I'm not surprised about it though. And I would not be surprised if those rude, loud, and obnoxious as hell railfans are also doing these things as well.

Well, there are railfans who behave maturely. Not all are rude, loud, and obnoxious. I don't like this hobby being associated with controversy.
  6. Since the ceiling was recently falling today at Chambers Street on the (J) and (Z), I propose that the station undergo a full renovation. Here's how it would it go down.

On late nights and weekends, the (J) terminates at Essex Street (note that this will take place after the switch east of the station before the Williamsburg Bridge will be reinstalled and fully operational).

The renovation work will focus on most of the station overall (details, cielings, etc.) The abandoned western platforms would be left alone. I would imagine the eastern platforms getting renovations as well, along with restoration of the early 20th century details. The abandoned middle platform would also be part of the renovations.

    What do you think?

  7. They really should focus on that station it's not even funny anymore.

I've been to that stop numerous of times, and it was in serious danger of collapsing. Not only that, the whole station overall is in poor condition.

Time is ticking before the eventual collapse of the station.

Let's hope it won't end up like 181st Street on the (1)...
  8. Since this hasn't been updated in a while...

The TTC is unveiling 5 new express bus routes that are coming out next month.

Also, 55 of the Flexity Outlook's will be expected to be rolling on Toronto's streetcar routes by the end of this year.

  9. Isin't there already an R211 Discussion Thread?

Yeah, but there's a purpose why this version was created.

The reason this thread was not merged with previous R211 discussions, is because everything you thought you knew about this program, just isn't so anymore.

Also, I wonder what car number the 211's are gonna have.

  10. I have an interesting idea. Bilingual annoucements. The Seoul metro has this feature on it's trains. This would be on the NTT's both A & B Division. (The translations were done via https://www.translate.com)

    Example 1

At Canal Street, the announcements would be done in english and chinese. Imagine hearing this on board an R142A (6).

"This is Canal Street. Transfer is available to the (J), (N), (Q), and (R) trains.

    In Chinese.

    这是运河街。转让是可用 (J)(N)(Q)(R) 列车。

    English

"This is a Brooklyn Bridge bound (6) local train. The next and last stop is, Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall."

    Chinese

    这是布鲁克林大桥 (6) 当地火车。下一页和最后一站是布鲁克林大桥市政厅。

    Example 2

Now imagine hearing this on an R188 (7) train.

    English

    "This is Flushing-Main Street."

    Korean

    이것은 플러싱 메인 스트리트이다.

(Of course, Flushing is also Chinese, but I'll end it there).

The purpose of the bilingual annoucements is to famarilize those with their native language. It will mainly be played around the neighrborhood they live in as the 2 examples showed (Canal Street-Chinese, Flushing-Main Street-Korean).

    What do you think?
