  1. I was walking by the 9/11 Memorial and you know the staircase near West St, some people thought that was the subway entrance.
  2. I know I'm suppose to relate to nyc subway but I found this interesting. I was reading two articles, one was publish in 2012 and the other in April 2015 and it was about how CTA riders don't like the seating arrangment style on newer subway cars(5000 Series), which made by Bombardier and they perfer New York-style seats. Even though Bombardier made those cars including the R142, which seats 40 passengers compare to 34 seats on the 5000 Series. The aisle width between seats as you may know is wider on the R142s than on the 5000 Series. From the article "The solution starts with listening to riders. That’s what the Metropolitan Transportation Authority did back in the early 1980s when it stopped installing individual “scoop” seats for its aisle-facing configuration on subway cars and instead switched to benches, according to the . (The CTA recently dismissed concerns about forward-facing seats. But on that issue and aisle-facing benches, it’s not surveying riders about what they want.)." 3. Yesterday around 5pm, I was waiting for the at Chambers St and when the R32 came first and left the station, the train made so much noise down the tunnel and everybody including me looked at the train to find out what the wired sound was. It was a very loud screeching noise coming from the rear of the train and everybody thought something had went wrong because the train had slow down and stopped. When my came, the train had to wait at the platform for like 7 minutes due to police activity at Fulton.
  4. It's been a long time since I last rode a Orion V CNG. I was on the Orion V CNG #1658 on the N6 and the front door open and close very slow.
  5. I got off the downtown this morning at W4 St and as I got upstairs, I saw a train on the express track, which went express to Canal St.
  6. Oh, I didn't know. I rarely take NICE, plus it was my first time taking the N6. So I forgot they only drop off passengers in Queens coming from Nassau County.
  7. If people in Far Rockaway wants to go to Roosevelt Field Mall, they can take the N33 to Long Beach LIRR and transfer to the N15 there. Or the N31/N32 to Hempstead Transit Center and transfer either the N27 or the N15. Those are the only options, not unless if they want to drive all the way over there.
  8. So today, I decided to take the N32 to Hempstead Transit Center, which took me an hour and then I catch the N6 to Hillside Av/179 st . I did miss the N6x when the N32 was approaching the transit center. First time taking the N6 and it started to get crowded before reaching Belmont Race Track and after that, it just got really crowded. I can't believe Chuck E. Cheese's at The Hub is still there. It's been like nearly 10 years since I last went there, plus I used to go there on my b-day. Now I'm still surprise they have the old Long Island Bus route sign near Wavecrest Shopping Center, I would of thought it will be replace with the newer one by now. Also, along Francis Lewis Blvd and Hillside Av going towards 165th Street Bus Terminal, whenever the bus drop off passengers at a bus stop, I don't see any bus signs for that route other than bus sign routes.
  9. It's been so long since I last rode NICE and it was probably like 2 years ago, even though I live right across the street. One of these days, I will take it, probably next weekend. Thinking of going to the movies at Jamaica Multiplex and when that's done, I'll just head to Archer Av and take the N4 or N4X to 5 corners for the N32 to go home. I know, that's a long journey. However, I am happy that NICE got the XN40, when it goes into service next month, it will probably be assign to any route(correct me if I'm wrong). I will be suprise if it shows up on the N31 or N32 randomly like I saw with the Ex-Foothill on the N31 this past June.
  10. So, I went to storage to get rid of some old stuff and I totally forgot I have this: station sign with a ruler on the back Subway map © 2004. I used to carry the subway map in school when I was in 4th or 5th grade.
  11. OMG, I was on the going to Manhattan and at 88 St - Boyd Av, somebody made a lot of dents on the wall on the platform. I didn't had a chance to take the picture of the damage wall since the train was leaving and at the last moment, I saw the dents.
  12. Yeah. In the mornings, the QM17 buses wait for passengers on Mott Av instead at the Q22 bus stop where I was standing. In the evenings, as you see in the picture, the bus drops of the last passenger at Beach 21st/Mott Av and then the driver puts on the "Not in Service". Then it will turn left on Mott Av and left on Beach Channel Drive to the Depot. In the mornings, I never seen the QM17 ever make a right turn on Mott Av at Beach 21st, most likely due to tight turn with little room they have. I assume they most likely drive on Beach Channel Drive from the Depot and onto Mott Av in the mornings for the first pickup. It's always a problem for the Q22 and NICE buses.
  13. N32 Orion Vll NG & N33 Orion V CNG. N4X to Freeport in Far Rockaway? No, it's the N33 to Long Beach. Must be a glitch with the sign.
  14. As I was waiting for the Q22 after I got off the .....
  15. So my commute today went like this. I usually take the 12:33pm at Mott Av but since I got there early, I took the 12:13pm instead. I have class that starts at 2:00pm in Manhattan and it will take me an hour to get there. I sat at the window and saw this: Somebody most likely had a lighter and tried to burn the plastic covering on the window. This was on the R46 #6167. By the time I got to Euclid Av, I heard from the station PA saying that the was suspended, so the ran local. This happened(I think) after 12:35pm. I wasn't sure why the was suspended but as the ran local, at some stations like B'way Jct, Utica Av, Nostrand Av, the conductor say that there was no service and the will make all stops. However, for other stations between them, the conductor say making local stops. I saw some people waiting for the , they didn't get on the and I assumed they don't know that the was suspended. When I got on the train to go home around 4:30pm, everything went back to normal.
  16. Nassau Inter-County Express XN-40 is near completion. Photo showing the axle being install. Saw a very small portion of NICE color scheme too. https://twitter.com/theNICEbus/status/638365664244273152
  17. Since my semester started yesterday at BMCC, which is near West Side Hwy, every time I go home, I always walk towards Chambers St & Church St to catch the . Can I enter the station at W Broadway & Chambers St and then walk via passageway to the instead of walking all the way to Church St/Chambers St? I know there is a passageway south of the platform on the , which leads to the .
  18. I was thinking, since our elevated trestle are aging, would it be possible in the next 20,30 or even 40 years from now that these lines may have to be place underground? I would think if would build a new subway line, it will be below ground rather that make the line elevated.
  19. I find this really interesting, I know it's like 15 years ago but I was trying to find a bus map that was used in 2000 showing Manhattan routes and I can't believe the express bus fare was $3.00 compare to what is now $6.50. http://www.nymedicaldoctor.com/images/Bus.pdf
