They should change it back in the terminals. It doesn't make sence say "there is a downtown train to South Ferry 6 minutes away" at Van Cortlandt Park terminal when the train is already there awaiting departure. They should switch it back to "the train will depart in said minute".
IMO this was one of those scenarios were fixing something that wasn't broken in the first place.
First, they are NOT garbage, enough with the BS name calling towards the SMEEs.
Second, the MTA truely intends on bringing new trains to the Staten Island Railway regardless, so R68s to Staten Island, don't see it happening.
As is all of the fleets in the subway system. The current NTTs are not that special to me, that's why I'm looking forward to the R211s. Design wise they've taken it to another level.
They'll most likely replace the remaining R32s and possibly all of the R46s. The R44s have already been retired from service.
As stated above, several new R211s will replace the current fleet on the Staten Island Railway.
Actually, that pic was taken back in the earlier 2010s. Not recent. Actually, that pic was taken back in the earlier 2010s. Not recent.
Excuse the double post. My phone's been freaking out.
It doesn't matter if the Seventh Avenue Line has only one line with NTTs, the R62/As are still in decent WORKING condition and got another decade or so for useful service life so they are NOT going anywhere anytime soon.
The used to be equipped with R62As 9 car single units back in the day, until they were switched over to the in the 2000s. Also a few sets from the ran on the earlier this year during a weekend G.O.
The A/C issue on the R62As has become absolutely ridiculous. I dont care hit or miss, already this summer I've been on countless sets on both the & lines were the air conditioner wasn't working, a few of them with 3 cars combined without A/C.
A summer swap is not a bad idea at this point like having some of the R62As run on the since is express. On the contrary I've been on Kawasaki R62 trains that felt like ice box so I give props to the line crews for sending those trains out with some decent working A/C.
First of all, the received the R62As from the & primarily. As for a Bombardier R142 ever appearing on the before, I can't even remember if one ever did appear.
It wasn't because Bombardier was or wasn't qualified, the order by defalt went to Kawasaki considering that Bombardier figured the R188 project order was a minor task. Lord knows at the time of the R188 planning they we're qualified, but 6 or 7 years later and it seems as if things have changed.
Anyway, so what about this rumor about Corona possibly keeping some left over R62As.
I just want to make sure of something. Ive been hearing possible rumors that Corona yard might keep some R62As left over. If this is correct or just simply a rumor, would somebody confirm it?
